I love how mesmerizing the string is when you get the pattern how you want it and twist towards the end of the process. It's like watching the white parts march in unison down the string. I actually let out an audible "OOOOooooo" it's gorgeous. Your string videos always make me want to make my own. Someday I will!
I am sooo glad this Video appears in a NUSensei `playlist` of Bowstring making videos. They all belong linked together! It's helpful to follow `em all. Great instructional video - keep up the good work.
When you're laying up your string material how much longer do you set your posts vs the string length you want to account for the twists? So if your making a string for a 70" bow, I believe that should be a 66" string at the end after putting in the twists. Also for strings you've made for your Uuhka limbs do set the posts further out again (I believe Uuhka's want a slightly longer string)?
You usually use BCY 452x. You then need to stretch the material overnight. Companies use about 300 pounds of pressure. I don't know if there is anything different with making cables, b ut there are plenty of tutorials out there. sorry for being late on answering your question, but I hoped this helped.😁
Thank you very much for the great vids! I'm definitely a subscriber! Question for you, if I may. Can I use candle wax on the string? Again, thank you very much!
To my knowledge, silicone-based wax is best for modern bowstrings, while natural waxes are better for traditional bowstrings. I don't know how candle wax will work out.
Decut string jig. It's OK. Does the job, is fairly affordable compared to more professional string jigs, but has its limitations (and cruddy instructions).
If you're making standard-sized strings, it does the job. Other than adjusting for length, there's not much else it does. One problem I've come across is that it doesn't retract enough to make short strings, such as the 48" junior bows we've got at the club.
social3ngin33rin I followed his plans and I've made at least a dozen strings since March. The only thing I added was a small hook on each side, near one end, to tie off the string at the start of the process.

I could watch you making strings all day long... It's so peaceful

It is nice to see you've sharpened your knife. 😉😉😉
There is nothing more POINTLESS than a blunt KNIFE.
😂😂😂😂
Was able to make my own following your instructions, and the results were excellent. Kind of addicted now. Thanks, once again, for the great work!
Beautiful! That's the colour combination that I would choose too. Nice touch the serving thread colour.
NUSensei is lowkey sonic fan with that spin there.
Binging your videos...that string came out quite nicely
A tool that I use in fly fishing might help you with the nock stop knots. A nail knot tool. Beautiful string.
Hahahahaah that guitar at 15:17 is just hilarious ^^. Much funny, very thankful, such skill.
I feel like he should've switch to something really slow classical music right after that
Awesomeness in Action!
banger playlist, I might actually try making my own strings now
terrific video as usual, I don't get tired of the music transitions at the 'spin to win'.
Thanx for showing.
I struggled with the end.
Now I know again.😁😁😁
@NUSensei when are you gonna make the infinity string? i wanna see all the colours😂
string making, endless loop or Flemish is so relaxing and fun. too bad they never break.

All your videos put me to sleep. I never see the whole and I can't re watch or I fall asleep again!
I ar with many ultra sads for u freend :^(
I enjoy these videos as I am improving my bowstring skills. What are the music tracks used in this vid? Helps the inner zen...
Do you still accept string commissions?
Does it need to be stretched up to a few pounds? when is the right time to stretch it?
How many loops are recomended of the thread ? Does it vary by bow weight?
Yoy are talented
Question for you. Do archers use mechanical releases with D loops when using a traditional bow or a takedown recurve bow?
Never. Mechanical releases with D loops are used just in compound bows. Actually are forbidden by the rules.
Great vid, cheers! Same/similar process to make compound bow strings // cables?

+Red Whinemann Candle wax will get brittle in the cold and flake away. Silicone-based string wax like that sold by BCY stays soft when its chilly.
What jig is that anyway? Looks pretty solid.
Decut string jig. It's OK. Does the job, is fairly affordable compared to more professional string jigs, but has its limitations (and cruddy instructions).
How is it limited? I'm looking to buy a jig so I'm looking for the best bang for my buck.

How you choose the string leanght for a recurve bow
Length of bow minus three inches.
Do you mean the length of bow without the string?
looks fun to make but I don't have access to a jig :(
social3ngin33rin here are some plans: www.shootingthestickbow.com/STRING_MAKING.pdf
cool :D
Thanks for the info

That does seem better :)
Estonian archers string? Eesti sata.
BSAMSR
Fuck it, make 18 color string
