Apple needs to add a 5 minute battery backup to their Apple TVs, Mac Mini, and iMacs. This would allow popple to move these devices to other rooms without spending time shutting down and rebooting. It would also provide a distinguishable advantage to all Apple products. An Apple ad could show someone moving their iMac outside to enjoy the good weather... without rebooting.
I get the overdue need for a USBC charging port on the keypad and mouse, but wouldn’t it be awesome - and probably wishful thinking - for an innovative redesign of the Magic Mouse, or at least a charging port somewhere more convenient than the current ridiculous under device location?
The underside charge point is a little odd, but it doesn’t actually make a lick of difference. Just plug it in once every couple of months when you’re done with the computer and it will be good to go for another couple of months when you come back later.
Just thinking of the admittedly rare instance in which one might need to charge the mouse after power drains in the middle of something being worked on.
@@diegan23 Very rare indeed. Based on my own experience of using a Magic Mouse since 2012, that scenario has happened to me exactly twice. 5 minutes of charge was enough for several days of use afterwards. I just sat there impatiently staring at the mouse for those 5 long minutes, instead of emptying the waste bin or going to the kitchen for something. It was super inconvenient.
I agree that the Mac Mini is going to be a major seller. I bought the M2 Pro last year to replace an aging MacBook and it has been just great. The last desktop I had was a couple of decades ago. I didn’t need the portability of a laptop so much as I wanted to get rid of the tower under my desk. Now, with more of us working from home, the Mini is fine most of the time, with the iPad meeting our needs when we’re on the go. I can definitely foresee replacing my TV with a larger monitor (or two, because I work with dual monitors). The increasing miniaturisation is changing how I use rooms in my home. I’m not even sure I need some of the larger appliances in the kitchen. Apple now needs to step up its home hub game and make it simpler to integrate our lighting, smart plugs, locks and other smart appliances with Apple devices.
For Apple chips, the M1 is followed by the M4. The M2 and M3 were interim developments, M2 had bad graphics and M3 was overrun by TSMC and their new M4 process.
Actually no. The M2 generation improved the GPU by adding additional cores and fixing the scaling issues. It also added CPU cores. M3 further improved the CPU on the Max and across the line added hardware acceleration for raytracing and dynamic caching. M4 will be better CPU through better IPC and additional CPU cores and improvements in rasterization and raytracing on the GPU. Each generation is fixing the flaws with the M1

But the M4 Mac mini has me very interested. In terms of the idea that "these M-chips are so good, why upgrade?" People people stop waistline your money. You are buying Apple devices that are not being using to the capability. To the presenters, I get it you want to talk and make money here but this is mute already. “Exactly you see no difference” stated by one of you. The same goes with cycling, people get disk brakes and people never ever will average 20-25 mph. Impossible. Even pro riders can average 25-30 mph. So why have disco brakes when the average yo can get away with rim brakes. I think I am trying to make a point here. Honestly I am trying to go back to a flip phone. Besides, phones have and continue to make people ignorant. Instead of being on social media get algebra, science, biology books and read, get educated.
Bought the M1 Mac Mini at launch in the UK and still does all it needs to (only Arc browser seems to strangle it, which p1sses me right off as I lurrvvvve Arc) but will likely upgrade to M4 Mini to update all USB A to C and the RAM upgrade, that’ll become a 5year+ machine quite easily.
The M3 was made using the first 3nm process from TSMC which had a low yield. Apple was the only company that was prepared to fund the manufacture of so many faulty chips. The M4 is made using the new reliable TSMC 3nm process. Apple are therefore unlikely to order any more M3 chips from TSMC. I believe that in future Apple are unlikely to offer anything other than M4 and M2 chips. The reason is that I believe that Apple will continue to order M2 chips is that they are made using the reliable TSMC 5nm process. Note that the 5nm process was also used to manufacture the M1 processor and so Apple would have no reason to order any more M1 processors. TSMC is currently trying to make 2nm chips which would presumably be used in future M5 Macs. However the yield for the TSMC 2nm process is only around 10% and so considerable work must be done before the 2nm process will have an acceptable yield.
