- I spent a week in Madeira testing out the 2023 Scott Foil. This is an all out aero bike but it handles as well as any bike out there. I can't say enough good things about this bike or the riding in Madeira. There are so many incredible roads with outrageous elevation all over the island. This is the first in a series of films from Madeira.

Madeira has some great views, but, the Azores Islands are even more beautifull, a island on the coast of africa and similar to Hawaii

Serious descent. The disc brake and freewheel sound is amazing. The whole island can hear you coming for sure. Bonus safety feature.

gotta love a brand new bike already having various disc brake noises haha.
It is inevitable if you are a heavy rider. You bend the front wheel and steering while applying force. The space between the disc and the jaws is just to small + you have friction deformation.
@@Umetnik or you just pulling hard one side amd than the other with same effect of bending the wheel.

I recently climbed 6000ish to the top of Clingman's Dome in TN/NC. Felt like you on the way down just gliding through curves. Your channel is inspiring!
i think its just crazy how the fine pawls inside a freehub can work for several years after riding stuff like this

This is insane. I went to Madeira last October and I would not dare to take my bike on open roads, especially when there's cars involved too. People drive their cars down and uphill like crazy....didn't see anybody on a road bike in 10 days on the island. Amazing place though! And breathtaking video. 🔥🔥
Haha i just commented about that, we're not used to cyclists over here, much less fast ones! I ride my bike around here too but much more slowly xD

10:19 its so awesome when drivers know that a cyclists will be faster on the descent so avoid overtaking on the crest. Annoyingly in the uk it almost never happens
Yh here in berlin ppl go faster than the speed limit just to overtake me and go extra slow on the descent to fuck me up

Ohhh man! Don’t you even think for a second that anyone here understands that or gives a fuck, ha was just lucky. That near miss with the lady - the one that kept backing up despite seeing him - is more representative of the current social mentality around (although I must say he was ballsy/irresponsible doing what he did, I would never in a million years try to pull that move). In this society the majority is still stuck with the motto: bikes are inferior, cars reign the road, you should ride on the sidewalk.

Pretty stupid from him not to stop because the car was on the road before the rider was visible means you are not able to make the driver of the car responsible if you crash the car because your right of way is gone if you would be able to brake down and someone is on the street way before they can see you.

@@12Burton24 You can't cut off "an entire" street because you feel like it. She was not doing any tricks, simply interrupting the free movement of the rest of the people.
Cutting, going under the minimum, etc. are faults.
@@Elmaryan @Elmaryan 60 in a village is also not allowed. Stop means all your wheels have to stop not 17km/h. The car is not cutting the car is turning and when the car started the cyclist was not visible you are forced by law to stop and let the car do the turning. You dont gain a right of way over the other person.

@@Kaiweeks Slowing down when you want you can do with 300km/h the question is can you stop within a distance. and this person is clearly unable to stop in any case of closer incoming traffic. Beside that local speed limits count for every vehicle also riders. You should stop thinking you cab ride like the pros on close secured streets.

@@404nobrakes I got more skill than Safa has in my back pocket. Been racing road bikes and mountainbikes for more years than most people like Safa have even owned bikes. I don't race anymore but I've got experience Mister. If Safa had the balls he would go to Moab, Utah and ride some death defying downhills there. I've done it.
These bikes are awesome. The scene breath taking. The sound reminds me a little of the drag on some fishing reels. When a kingfish grabs it. Lol. Beautiful video 💯

Yet another Safa special. Perhaps its a combination of Aero bike/wheels/tires, lower tuck position, smooth roads and warmer air, but it seems for the grade you are descending, your avg speeds are higher by a few kph. Curious to know your thoughts.
The bike is definitely faster and the wheels must be helping too. I really like the flat back position this bike puts me in. The 54/40 keeps me hammering the pedals on the flatter stuff too which I've really been enjoying.

Friend, sometimes you take a lot of risks. This downhill somehow reminded me of motorcycle racing on the Isle of Man, only there on the track all the corners, walls, fences, they try to protect at least with compressed hay, well, or other means, and everything is adult for you. Respect you!

Hi Safa, I watch your videos from a year and a half I think. I know you got great skills, but at that speed you should be wearing some protective gear, like motorcyclists, maybe some light gear but do wear it.

@@kw4704 yeah I can kind of see the appeal for a loud hub. But when watching videos like these, I personally just find it too loud for me to enjoy his skills and the scenery.

As a skater, it's wild to me how fast you guys go without elbow or knee-pads. Like what happens when it all goes wrong? Do you just melt on the asphalt?
I hope I could ride this beautiful route in one day.
The 180° rule may be good, but I would like to be able to freeze frames to identify the vegetation on the road. Solanum mauritianum may be present, it's a miraculous plant that allows you to do without stripping products to clean your bike transmission, and do the dishes too!
Quite a lot of turns but still looks like a fun descend.
