I started watching this on my phone, and then I thought, no this is wrong. Then went to put it on the HD big screen. These videos are truly works of art.
My friend and I went down this descent during a cycling tour of Switzerland 40 years ago and I still remember it. Even going at about a quarter of your average speed I was hoping my brakes would hold. It was exhilarating though.
The level of skill to do this and avoid certain obstacles, is actually insane. The quality of these videos is also insane. One wrong turn or big rock and you're done. Glad to see someone ride with such grace an precision actually insane.
you don't need skills, you just need to be a reckless fool. Anyone can ride 80kmh on a bike. I have travelled 80kmh on an ebike I built myself on dirt roads closed to the public. Not like this idiot who enters a village at 70kmh where children can suddenly cross the road. That's not being cool, that's just stupid
Well said...with no protective gear for the most part. Love riding but dont like the lack of control you have on one at higher speeds Like you said...just one small rock, road imperfection its meet Jesus time the hard way.
..i learned to ride a motorbike on this road...its crazy on weekends...the lines you two choosed were quite risky... at the liitle "S-Shape piece of road" at exactly 4:40...you can see some staines on the road...this is where 2 bikes collided head on.they were cutting corners as you did and then this little piece of road invites you to do the same...but imagine something is coming upwards..you are to fast to even wiggle to the right...trust me..i was a first responder..2 dead..the stains proof my point..a dam risky 50 meters..
I could never attempt this you just cant move quickly nor stop as youd need to...in case. Surely I would be launched off the side of that mountain like Wile E Coyote for some stupid mistake.
Not really sketchy he could have stopped in time if the bus kept going, just not polite forcing the bus to come to a stop by not waiting, its the bus drivers skill (well he saw them pass, checked his mirrors and let them go through!) at least one of them would have got pinned if the bus kept going, the car had to wait there no matter what.
@@robertwaldram5903 that's plain bs. At the point where he ignores everyone's safety, the line on the street is straight, not dashed which means no overtaking is allowed. Not only did he risk his life but the lives of the other passengers and drivers. The car had to be cautious for a large vehicle such as the bus that obviously can't take the turn. Instead an irresponsible guy on a bicycle decides to bypass all that by acting as if on the set of Mission Impossible. I can't believe there are people here who admire this guy for acting stupid.
@@happytrimmerAt no point do I say I admire the riding, its not skilful riding. I'm just saying its not a particularly dangerous situation. @@125-z1h It's not a stupid comment, this ride was very wreckless, at minute 11:42 and than at 15:44, wtf? This guy is lucky not to get fined because in Switzerland they don't f*ck around.
I climbed that in summer 2023 after the Grimsel which you can see in the distance. Those Swiss roads are amazing! You got lucky on the Hotel Belvedere turn!
We looked at the Furkapass in Sept 22. Our tandem was heavily loaded, we had only v-brakes for the rims (no drag brake) and the climb looked like Cardiac City. We punted by taking the tandem on the train under the Pass, then returning to ride the Postbus from Realp to Obergoms. From there we went down the Rhone to Marseilles. After this video, we don't regret cheating. Nice ride down although you were pushing it around a couple of the hairpins.

I wish I was there, it feels so good when you get completely exhausted on a bike and you continue to ride. You can just fell everything. You can even feel your muscles ripping apart. 😊😅
Experiencing the raw runs on Furka Pass (west) in Switzerland was like diving into a thrilling adventure! 🏔💨 The breathtaking scenery combined with the exhilarating twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat, wishing I could join in on the action. What an epic ride!
Well I’ve read many of the comments where people think this is fantastic and so exciting and of course it is quite exciting but it’s also quite dangerous. Even if you are a driver I really feel for people. It’s one thing to go into the Tour de France and have an entourage of people to look after you in case you have a terrible accident that these ones are just courting disaster. That section where you went between the bus and the car is absolutely ridiculous and if a police car was there I’m sure you would’ve been fine as you should’ve been not only is it dangerous for you? It’s also dangerous for the driver of the car and the bus and the person filming behind you. I am a cyclist myself. I love cycling, but this sort of recklessness is really uncalled for and it’s so sad to see it happening in such a beautiful place where I actually wanted to drive myself. I certainly hope this sort of recklessness doesn’t happen in my country, Australia.
That was great to watch, thank you. Great video quality and cammer riding, not a good place to have a break failure that's for sure! I normally ride powered 2 wheels but that was aces 👍
Kudos to the camera guy on the bike, ran the same speed ran a slightly better line and had to multitask doing the run and the camera at the same time. ✌
Controlled insanity, I'll call it. Few riders have the skill, confidence or balls to try this. Brian possesses all three. As one poster said, one false move...Even the best make mistakes, and sometimes machines fail for any number of reasons.
So many memories. I rode the Furka in 1990 as part of the Swiss Mountain Passes ride. I was forty years old. I found it scary then and this dude makes it look scarier a la Tom Pidcock. But, I’m ready to go back…………….will likely be somewhat slower this time…………..going up……..and going down😂. Cycling is youthdew!
Absolutely fearless and skilled. At around 5:09 you move to the left toward the centreline to pass within inches of an incoming RV at 65kph… I’m not even going to ask why, I think your answer would be “why the hell not?”
Great effort, great video. Cut it a little close to traffic a few times. Super loud freewheeling hubs you have there. Speed would have been well above 100kmh if not for those switchbacks. Also those Swiss can really produce a quality pavement, those roads get the worst weather and they are immaculate. Careful out there and thanks for the vids..
thanks for sharing this amazing footage of Furka Pass, it really captures the beauty of Switzerland! however, i can't help but feel that the raw runs take away from the breathtaking scenery. sometimes, a little editing can enhance the experience and showcase the stunning landscapes even better. what do you all think?

The city where I live and cycle is pretty much totally flat. I have a 7 speed hub gear city bike. However, I always do a SAFA Brian aero tuck whenever I come across a little downhill section and imagine I am in the alps doing 50mph :-)
Really love your maximum attack style, no time to catch a breath, passing through the gap between the car and the bus, 20 seconds later, super-tuck! I wonder how many runs can you think you can do in a day, as it is really exhausting mentally. Phisically, you`re flowing, so loose, not tense, it`s a joy to learn...I mean watch! Oh yeah, that bike really goes!
