David Chang kind of feels like a guy who tried something, got really rich doing it, not too sure why he's so good at it(or why people like it so much), and tries his best to not screw up what he's doing.
I agree and that's why I like him. He seems modest about what he does. But for some reason he still gets a lot of hate. Not sure where that hate is really coming from
Have a lot of respect for this dude, first off, he's doing something, he knows that he's never going to be as good as the dude next to him who happens to be the best. But that doesn't stop him from becoming great in his own way, and be successful.
Just saw this for the first time and was on a different tab listening while reading other stuff and INSTANTLY knew that voice and flipped back to see Gary. Love that dude so much. He took up so much of my time watching WineLibrary back in the day, cool as shit IRL too.
I have been a chef for 20 years, and I completely relate. That man tells it how it is, he is a regular guy who is an excellent creative chef, humble, down to earth, you and me kinda guy. I would love to hang and drink with him.
David Chang is the man. my favorite chef hands down. he's just a good fucking person even though he's famous and rich, it doesn't seem to have changed him.
I love this guy, he's real. No facade, no tricks, he's just a genuine dude with realistic expectations of everything. Need to see more people like this around!
I feel it fits the theme of the show better. Thats why the old "A cook's tour" with Anthony Bourdain appeals to me(as a cook), it peels back this "skin" of romanticism the media encases around the real life or social activities of a cook. Which is usually alone or with other people in the same industry; more often than not, they're as socially remedial as you.
David Chang is a rock star. I love how he’s unfiltered and doesn’t try to put on an image of the highly decorated chef or put out pretentious vibes. He’s punk rock, not an orchestra in penguin suits. Blue collar. Passion for the people. Seems like a dude I’d love to kick it with.
sue lol julia sue the morning, and the 2 I don't have a great time at the time. I 8th. I am going on here and now the only solution. I have anniversary 4 the morning and? I am
hahahahaha love all these munchies series, i think chefs and cooks all across America, at least what i've seen, we're a bunch of fucking pirates just looking for good food and great company. Rock on chefs!
I must just be thin-skinned or something to pick up vibes like this, but for some reason on a lot of these Munchies episodes the people who hang out with each other seem really passive-aggressive. Basically acting like pricks towards each other. Like they're a shot of whiskey away from slugging it out on the street. Maybe it's just the place I'm from, I don't know.
That's just how people in the food industry are. They're a bunch of egocentric, depressed, socially-retarded, drug-fueled, assholes. At least in my experience. But there are some exceptions.
Gary V lmaooo of course! Now dave is probably one of the most recognizable chefs in the world and of course Gary V is there where it all started lol that’s awesome
LucidDream Come to Hawaii there are tons of Asian girls here, but unfortuantely there are many here that are stuck up and kind of shallow. But if you are good looking, you have a nice vehicle, and you have a lot of money then you should be okay. =) I would still choose South East Asia if I wanted to date and have sex with Asian women though.
Didn't know what Momofuku was until now and I work in NYC (fashion industry so no one eats) but I am checking this place out ASAP. David seem mad cool.
omg how embarrassing how he not only got shitfaced but in front of jose andres and then serves him ham??? wtf!!!! the man is from spain from where the best ham hails from. love you david but damn... kinda messed that one up lol
Yup! Cheng is not only my favorite chef but one of my favorite artists alive. He comes up with the most controversial dishes but hey.. he's having fun with it. I can imagine him going to White Castle at 2 am and just laughing it up to all the snob food critics !
Well what you said reminds me of a survey they mentioned in the movie "Waiting for Superman" (a documentary about the failing education system in America). The survey showed that the countries with the smartest kids (Korea, Japan, Finland) had modest amounts of confidence despite scoring the highest in math/science proficiency. And that Americans who scored among the lowest in math and science, had the highest responses towards thinking they did well on those tests.
Here in 2019 watching this video for probably, I don't know, the fourth or fifth time and I only just realized that Gary Vaynerchuk makes a cameo at the end. I'm just glad he didn't try to give me advice.
i feel the same way but he's strangely calm given all the stress of the business i would love to try my own hand at a business and have had minor success in the industry but working in Entertainment has certainly taught me alot about how to carry yourself!!
So pretty much everyone below me has never seen VICE'S series called "munchies" ............ Dont bitch when Vice put out new and interesting things for you viewers be thankful.
David Chang kind of feels like a guy who tried something, got really rich doing it, not too sure why he's so good at it(or why people like it so much), and tries his best to not screw up what he's doing.

I think that' exactly the case.
And to all the people who hate on him for this, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.
He is very easy to relate to
Americas got talent
Have a lot of respect for this dude, first off, he's doing something, he knows that he's never going to be as good as the dude next to him who happens to be the best. But that doesn't stop him from becoming great in his own way, and be successful.
Henry Cee this
One of my favorite chefs of all time. I really hope Momo stays alive after all this Covid chaos ends.
Sadly but to no surprise he has preemptively closed all of his restaurants, I hope for the same.
@@cailankromer2118 I just had Momofuku a couple nights ago so I guess it’s open now.

I love how Gary Vaynerchuk just happens to show up at 11:36. Both him and Chang are cool ass dudes who deserve all the success they get.
Just saw this for the first time and was on a different tab listening while reading other stuff and INSTANTLY knew that voice and flipped back to see Gary. Love that dude so much. He took up so much of my time watching WineLibrary back in the day, cool as shit IRL too.
Forget Gary - Travis kalanick at the same table.
Gary Vee is a fucken cornball
I have been a chef for 20 years, and I completely relate. That man tells it how it is, he is a regular guy who is an excellent creative chef, humble, down to earth, you and me kinda guy. I would love to hang and drink with him.
Gary Vaynerchuk popped in at 11:35. Funny.
I thought that was Gary V.
scottmuck 🤣🤣🤣
And he's with Travis Kalanick wtf
Too bad Gary passed up on Uber
"some salt, some black pepper, and a couple hours of don't fucking worry about it" lol love it
David Chang is the man. my favorite chef hands down. he's just a good fucking person even though he's famous and rich, it doesn't seem to have changed him.
Brandon Wallace but he's low profile type of person ahaha
Ahhhh this production and editing is so 2000's i love it! Just good fun to watch
I love this guy, he's real. No facade, no tricks, he's just a genuine dude with realistic expectations of everything. Need to see more people like this around!
I like how he's not down to cook and the minute he gets drunk he goes for it. drunk cooking, while it can be dangerous, is so much fun
The dude is hammered and kept it together! what a legend.
Oh man Munchies used to be so badly produced lol.
Jason Hope but it had quality material. nowadays it's just a bunch of hipsters on munchies.
Noooo the production makes it, it's just some peoole messing around and enjoying food. Doesn't get much better then that!
I feel it fits the theme of the show better. Thats why the old "A cook's tour" with Anthony Bourdain appeals to me(as a cook), it peels back this "skin" of romanticism the media encases around the real life or social activities of a cook. Love watching this in 2022 and seeing how far Dave has come.
Restaurant owners getting wasted.
Munchies in a nutshell and I love it.
Lol that’s Gary vee hahaha
I just googled "Peter Meehan" -- because I'd never heard of him, Wow. A lot can change in 10 years.
this video got Vaynerchucked
bro puts himself down so much, but is actually REALLY good.
down to earth af Dave Chang is the man lmao
+Mr. K dont watch his videos tho if you have mad aspirations
af haha
David Chang is a rock star. I love how he’s unfiltered and doesn’t try to put on an image of the highly decorated chef or put out pretentious vibes. He’s punk rock, not an orchestra in penguin suits. Blue collar. Passion for the people. Seems like a dude I’d love to kick it with.
"Jose Andres just called me, should i call him back?"
Chang you gotta love where you are at.
Insane watching this now as you can really see how much the food culture has changed
Watching david chang makes me proud to be a chef. lmao
If you've never eaten at a David Chang restaurant, you have to go, it's not just hype -- his food is really comforting and tastes incredible
How this guy turned an average idea, average food and an average Talent into a multimillion-dollar Empire is quite incredible
except hes just being modest and hes not an average chef with average talent lol
Hard work?
I went to this place in Toronto, the classic momofuku ramen is unbelievable. The pork buns are heaven. Great atmosphere as well
idk why people are giving Dave smack when he owns a chain cuisine restaurant and makes at least 7 figures. Am I tasting salt from the haters?
+Mr. K maybe he hasn't stayed true to his working class roots by charging $10-$15 for a couple of steamed buns
+Mulch Diggums have you tried them? are they good - are they worth it?
Francosteiner they are nice but not worth the price... i have tried better in chinatown NY.
Mulch Diggums the bread didnt look so tasty to me, but 10-15$ is close to a big mac meal where im from, so doesnt seem so bad to me, if its delish
Francosteiner where are u from? we pay $6 for big mac meal
Real, humble, and honest dude, Vice needs more stuff with this guy
"I don't think I can handle that."
"I think we're gonna have to handle this."
11:35 The "we're gonna have to handle it" guy is having the time of his life haha
This is hilarious! He was so drunk haha. Love how down-to-earth he seems.
I really like the feel of the atmosphere at momofukus, the food looks good can't wait to go there one day.
I learned that David Chang doesn't know what to do with his hands.... and that's okay.
another thing ricky bobby and him have in common!
These are my favorite videos. More videos about chefs talking about their favorite places to eat please
Haha, Chang is hammered. I love it :P
sue lol julia sue the morning, and the 2 I don't have a great time at the time. I 8th. I am going on here and now the only solution. I have anniversary 4 the morning and? I am
LaNeice Watson wtf
LaNeice Watson yeah wtf
i love how personal this was.
also, seems like an awesome place to hang out
"here's to burning and looting, i think its a bob marly song but idk im drunk!" hahaha
Anyone else notice Gary Vaynerchuk just chilling at 11:34? Mind blown. Don't even think David Chang noticed.
Don't forget Travis Kalanick
hahahahaha love all these munchies series, i think chefs and cooks all across America, at least what i've seen, we're a bunch of fucking pirates just looking for good food and great company. Rock on chefs!
Man I want to work with David, or just to hang out with him and understand him, have him mentor me, just chill with him. I have mad respect for him.
Do I spy Gary Vaynerchuk and Travis Kalanick at 11:35? Yes, yes I do.
Chang is awesome. No nonsense straight forward.
david chang is the fucking man
David Chang killing the food game right now..Those buns looked on point and obviously very respected by all.
Wow, worlds colliding. Gary Vaynerchuk making an appearance at 11:38.
I thought i was the only one who noticed hahaha
Chang ROCKS!! I love the fact that he is humble enough to admit that he felt out of place.
11:35 Gary Vay-ner-chuck. I hope he brought some wine.
omg they are so honest. This gives me some hope for my place
Guy with glasses looks like an undercover Bradley cooper.
Unapologetic and honest. Best guy🙏
Ole #GaryVaynerchuk cameo at 11:38 ... My dude.
I fucking love this dude - i'm not even a cook or a chef (i'm a musician); but i respect Dave so much for his success. He's inspirational
Did I see ***** at 11:35? Awesome! Must have been good wine too.
David was relatively coherent @ 7:57 considering how smashed he was... hilarious and uber chill
The west coast could use a Momofuku...
holy fuck...that's gary Vaynerchuk at 11:28
This guy is very unassuming
He is definitely an entertaining individual.
that office worker looks like she gets tagged teamed
Love this. Ive had many pork buns in my life, but I still say I haven't truly had one yet since I have not had David Chang's. Nuff said.

james dutton Sue isn't a man. Don't know where you got that info.

As soon as I ate a Momofuku Pork Bun, it instantly became my death row meal; unbelievably delicious!
I must just be thin-skinned or something to pick up vibes like this, but for some reason on a lot of these Munchies episodes the people who hang out with each other seem really passive-aggressive. No, like i said "Gari Whu", this is from my own experience. Working in kitchens 12 hours a day.
***** Welcome to the cooks community.
nah, they're just ball busting, Tons of people do it.
Cooks love to bust each other balls. When a waiter drops a plate, we don't get piss but we do a "Aahhh" kind of noise. Make fun of him a bit.
I love that Spanish dude and his show.
sue chan.......hot
you and me both.
on srs note, i love how david chang is so humble even though he's successful
Momo Fuk U ? rofl
THAT WAS FUNNY
Gary V lmaooo of course! Now dave is probably one of the most recognizable chefs in the world and of course Gary V is there where it all started lol that’s awesome
DANM sue is hott!

I love the Gary Vaynerchuk cameo at the end.
That chick is hot!
***** Mediocre? Last time I checked, there were a lot of beautiful Asian women. Why compare?
***** I have Asian fever too though. :P Too bad I live around pretty much nothing but white people. : \

There’s so much chaos going on in this it gave me anxiety
Yup! Cheng is not only my favorite chef but one of my favorite artists alive. He comes up with the most controversial dishes but hey.. he's having fun with it.
I can imagine him going to White Castle at 2 am and just laughing it up to all the snob food critics !
I love success stories like this. Never give up
Discovered him on Treme. It's crazy that a tv show put real talented cooks behind the screen.
I really enjoyed the last video with David Chang and was glad to see another. Nice fuckin' work.
Keep em comming V!CE, love almost all your stuff!
This episode should have been called Drunkies. HAHA David Chang and Jose Andres are hilarious when they interact.
THANK YOU 👑 DAVID CHANG 🏆🌹CARLOTTA&SON'S💃💃💃CHICAGO, IL.
Love these episodes. Good shit.

Rewatch this after reading his memoir Eat A Peach and it hits different. You can see this is essentially David Chang howling "Wubba lubba dub dub"
i feel the same way but he's strangely calm given all the stress of the business i would love to try my own hand at a business and have had minor success in the industry but working in Entertainment has certainly taught me alot about how to carry yourself!!
There's something refreshing about seeing someone not comfortable on film.
seems like a chill guy
legend! guy drunk and still cooking!
'And a couple hours of don't fuckin worry about it.' This guy is great.
So pretty much everyone below me has never seen VICE'S series called "munchies" ............ Dont bitch when Vice put out new and interesting things for you viewers be thankful.
I just ate a pulled pork sandwich with a fried egg and cheddar. The bun was dipped in au jus. Best highdea I've had all day.
more like this with other chefs
thank you vice
Holy shit, haha. You can see Uber's CEO, Travis Kalanick & Gary Vaynerchuk at 11:33
+Matt Nassar yeah manhattan status. you have to be perfectly unimpressed by ppl in other cities you'd go nuts for LOL
did anyone else notice Gary V 11:36
His facial expressions, way of talking and attitude remind me so much of Kobe Bryant.
I was glad to see the speaker dude at the end! hahaha must have had interesting fun convos.
and you have loads of footy on your channel, good job man!!
