- We went to Joe Beef in Montreal, a restaurant that has been canonized by the likes of Anthony Bourdain, and is beloved not only within Canada but also the world at large. Co-owner David McMillan took us on an insanely delicious food tour of the city that ended with a wooden board covered in smoked meat. Enjoy.

“ is there a billionaire or a despot anywhere on earth who at this precise moment is eating better than us?”
Me too! I am so thankful to be in Canada! Ontario but one kid my brothers studied in McGill!
i'm on a diet, eating mostly vegetables and i can't stop watching all these munchies episodes after midnight....my mouth can't stop wattering...aw god....why am i doing this..
Keep these coming. I love watching all this food.
i am excited to try this place in 3 weeks. Visiting Montreal from Chicago. :)
+PootsBruh ok i will.
How did you like Montréal? :D
How was it?
@ g Jacky Roxas Did you get to try Joe Beef? How was it? I'm from Chicago too, and I'd like to eat there. Is the hype legit?
I went to Montreal just to eat here and yes -- it's as amazing as everyone says it is.
well finally...this is more like it, and not the other vice episode in Montreal
The phone breaking replay was brilliant.
Came here from Rogan's podcast 5 years later. Damn he looks better these days
same
same... but i live in montreal... and to get a table there it's a 2 months reservation thing.... not cheap but 100% worth it.
Yup
Love it! I work for the burgundy lion guys and I love joe beef. Great vid as always munchies!
white and blue....
Miss my Montreal. Keep it going boys and girls !
I love how when they were at burgundy lion, that camera was just following the bartenders bosoms
This guy eats the way every person would be able to eat in a perfect world.
This guy is full of love. The way he gets it across may seem odd to some but he seems to have surrounded himself with people that see through that. No need to hate on him
He broke his phone
Sam Nelson 100%.
Always get a case.
Dont stop these videos. They are awesome
He doesn't even hold the door for shorty leavin the Nora grey place
peter w I noticed that too. kinnda rude.
peter w What makes you think she deserves to have the door held for her ? lol
olskoolnewpaint
It's common courtesy to hold the door open for anyone (not just women) in Canada.
@@peachylady i would hope it's common courtesy worldwide
@Dante Solaris you only open the door for women?
All you guys hating on the fat dude are ignoring all the moments where he's a total sweetie. Like when he talks about how much he loves that japanese and argentinean chef.
Jared Greenwald Gayer words were never spoken. lol
Living downtown Montreal, loving it :)
11:32 hahaaa, they got progressively drunk until this moment. Killed me.
this guy knows how to go out in montreal
This spot looks unreal! Cheers from NB!!
Thanks for the enlightened way to enjoy Montreal.
I'm trying my heart out to open up my own place....I want a place like these joints. It's where the Chef's want to go. That's what I really want...
This was actually really good and I want to go there again because the first time I cheaped out on the food and spent all of my money on various alcoholic beverages.
I want to go to there!
I love Montreal! Some of the best music, bars, and gooooorgeous women! Poutine for the win.
the fact that he didnt get the door for her was a sign of respect.
Ive watched this episode about 4 or more times and the phone breaking scene is still weird/amazing to me.
I love this show.
Not one dude held the door for the lady! LOL
No phone case ? He totally smacked it out of his hand.
the Joe Beef stuff NEVER GETS OLD; why they don't have their own tv show on like CBC or the Travel Channel...???
Love this channel dude.
I miss Montreal. The guy in my thumbnail, Harvey, brot me there every year as a teen. Schwartz's and real bagels. The best stuff in America.
love these vids
Honey's was my spot in my early 20s! Love that place.
This video is such a great snapshot of Montreal dining at the time.
Montreal, Quebec (Canada) In The Building Yo! Word Up!
@11.14 I had poutine with smoked meat (not mentioned) that kicked ass too!
I ate at Globe sitting next to Hank Azaria when McMilan was a chef there.. the best baby back ribs I've ever had in my life.
going to check out those places this week!!
thank you. everyone needed to know this interesting information.

David Mcmillan comes into my work every once in a while
i live in montreal... and to get a table there it's a 2 months reservation thing.... not cheap but 100% worth it.
I work down the street on Notre-Dame. Like a 2 minute walk. This place is beautiful to see.
Chefs: Hedonistic, self absorbed, alcoholics. Livin' the high life
McMillan: "you gotta work hard at not burning bridges"...that aged well
Its cool to watch a video of your own city. God I love vice.
Montreal Seems Awesome.... I'm gonna go visit for sure... Nice Video...
chris moyles is a chef now???
vice fucking rules, come to the south, houston texas to be specific we'll show you whats up with the munchies world.
I heard about the Schwartz so many times. I can't wait to get a chance to go there! :D
Joe beef, Liverpoll House, Nora Grey and Park are all amazing restaurants. And that's just 4, Montreal has got tons of great restaurants.
I love my city
"I love Korean food"...proceeds to use chopsticks backwards.
Was first introduced to David and Fred on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. A couple of interesting cats. I'd give my right nut to get a chance to eat at Joe Beef.
Only a Canadian can be chill after someone broke their phone.
i fucking love this guy and his drunk banter: "smoke meat is the best meat, out of all the meats it's the finest of the meats" righteous dude
live around the corner from Joe Beef, never been. Vive st-henri!
That Pavlova mock potato thing looked amazing, is there a recipe for that ??
Another success Vice :)
i liked the manager lady ... She's pretty!
Watching this makes me feel like my taste buds are inadequate.
I would love to have that experience.
bring back the series!
Yeeeeeeh, Vice reppin my city
Montréal pour toujours tabarnak !!
9:26
My dear friends,
Welcome to Montreal.
David is so drool-worthy gorgeous!
He could cook me great food any time he liked!
sushi, pasta, booze, and barbecue... this is great
This shows so entertaining yet so painful to watch , I just want to eat something from one of these restaurants :(
Haha, yeah every single time there's munchies i want to book a plane to go wherever the episode was shot !
Does anyone know what the intro song starting at 0:32 is?
MONTREAL
this cant all be in one night lol, this beats my whole month >.>
Honey Martin is an expensive bar for "hip" late 20somethings 30somethings. Fuck that
He was in Rob Ford's Sobriety Coach video
"Best Irish pub in Canada..." Time to visit St. John's son.
His reaction is so ridiculous to the phone being knocked out of his hands. He's like mid-shrug by the time he realizes it happens. Rather than fumbling trying to catch the thing.
The look on the guy's face when the phone is knocked out of is hands.. replay
thanks for the video
my brother used to have this old samsung flip phone, toughest phone iv'e ever seen, used to throw it against walls and still it didnt break, even dropped it in a swimming pool once, and still it lived
that brisket looked soooooooo good O.O
Going tonight! Can't wait
Broke his phone lol. pain in the ass! hahaha
lol used to eat at Burgundy Lion all the time with my parents for lunch on sundays, when they came to visit me in st-henri. never thought it had mad cred like that... awesome.
they have sick shepards pie.
"Could you not do ice right now" seems so nonchalant for a means of asking your employees not to smoke meth while he's on camera.
No he legitimately mean ice. As in, don't use crush ice or cause loud noise.
ddzqowpoo ppppo
hahahahahah
Dude Joe Beef is amazing but David really needs to learn to chew his food longer. Also I hope he can keep his health in check, I like the guy.
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised, past you
I would Iike to visit Joe beef!
Vice needs more foodie episodes
Perfect!
Awesome people and place, Hope to eat their one day and I hope the dude pays for that guy's iPhone haha.
put customers in their place and only the ones that respect the atmosphere will contribute to it. also, anyone know the soundtrack during the intro?
GMM intro, anyone else hear it?
Sometimes when I watch Vice, I feel like I'm learning about someone I don't like a little TOO much.
i couldnt put it to words like you did but thanks for the laugh. i feel the same way lol
Holy shit, this one got me from 0 to starving in 6 minutes.
They need their own show on VICE or Munchies and Action Bronson and his crew needs to be on the first episode.
Montreal looks like heaven to me
GOD i love watching Munchies when i have the munchies
He's looking at both cameras at the same time.
Antonio Parks. Such a good guy.
Butters coming through:'I know what you are saying'
