    This was the only way I painted for the first 10 years. Just putting color on paper and let IT guide me. I’ve not really practiced this in some 20 years and I am grateful you painted this way. When it fits into your plans, I’d love to see another one. Thanks for the inspiration. Ahhhh, to be gifted. How fortunate you are.

    I will be trying this today! I’m a tightly wound perfectionist and trying so hard to loosen up! I love very loose watercolor work but my own work, even with the best of intentions, often misses the mark as I overwork and overthink. I think this will be a helpful exercise for me. PS your end result is beautifully ethereal!

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you 😊
      I mostly use watercolour gummed blocks, which help with keeping the painting from buckling. I also use paper that is 300gms and that seems to help also. I hope this was helpful?

    I was away from the internet for about 3 weeks. I surely missed your channel during that time. I am so glad to be back. I enjoyed this tutorial so much. I was amazed at how you started the painting with the random mix of washes. It's the first time I've seen anything like it. The painting is stunning. I was hoping you could explain what it means when you use the term "atmospheric"?

    • @KarenRiceArt
      @KarenRiceArt  ปีที่แล้ว

      So pleased you are back and enjoyed watching this tutorial. When I say atmospheric, I mean .
      creating a distinctive mood of feeling of the weather. Not representational, more impressionistic and I try to use both soft marks and expressive brushstrokes. There is so much to say. I hope you he the idea 😊
