Another great tutorial. Thanks for sharing and inspiring!
This was the only way I painted for the first 10 years. Just putting color on paper and let IT guide me. I’ve not really practiced this in some 20 years and I am grateful you painted this way. When it fits into your plans, I’d love to see another one. Thanks for the inspiration. Ahhhh, to be gifted. How fortunate you are.
Hi Bobbie, hope you're well. Pick up some brushes and do it this way again. You'll feel how gifted you are as well.
You should definitely try painting like this Bobbie, you sound a natural! It can be so instinctive. Thank you for sharing that with us. I would love to paint something like this again. Watch this space 😊
I’ve titled this masterpiece “waiting on the Unicorn”. Very special serendipity 💓
Lovely 😊
Wow you are so talented.
Magic!
Real poetry!
Really inspiring Karen, wonderful intuition! You've also inspired me on the Silver Black Velvet brushes, my collection is growing!
Gerald, Hampshire UK
Thank you so much Gerald. I’m so pleased you like the black velvet brushes! I love using them!
This is gorgeous! In my mind painting like that is the best ⭐️🎨🤗
Thank you so much

Wow, exquisite blurring and blotting💮. Very beautiful🌟. You have made full use of what watercolor has to offer✨👌. Lovely landscape painting💙.
Thanks so much!
Magical!
Very much like Steve Mitchell spontaneous painting. Relieves the pressure of trying to replicate a photo or painting.
I always love your generosity and I continue to grow and learn by your example 😎
Thank you so much 😊
I just love the effect of the trees the way it blended. It is absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to try this to me. This is what I call Art real true natural art I absolutely love it.

So beautiful karen! I struggle with looseness every time.
Karen, you are such an inspiration. Today I watched this video and had a long-awaited breakthrough. Thank you, thank you! I am so grateful for your painting tutorials with commentary as you progress.
You are so welcome! I am delighted that you had a breakthrough as a result of this tutorial. The most important thing is to get your paints out and just practice, don’t worry about the end result. Just enjoy the process and the journey.😊
Just amazing - I would love to paint like this … I know … just practice! So freeing - I need to work on my imagination 👍😁. Big thanks for bringing us this amazing technique 🙏

This is amazing Karen. I love it ❤. What a wonderful imagination you have to create such a fabulous painting from such a random start. So much fun and I am really dying to try it. Have been wanting to do a painting for a friend who likes something a little different but couldn't think what to do. If I can make this work for me, I think she would love it. Thank you so very much. You are incredibly generous to all of us 💕
So pleased you like this one. I am sure your friend would love it! Have a couple on the go to take the pressure off as well. I hope you enjoy it, it can be so uplifting 😊

You are so welcome!
Does anyone else see the dog at 0:49, or is it just me?😉 He's got his leg in the air and a surprised look on his face.
I can see something, but not quiet a dog... I love the fact that you can see different shapes in abstract work! Thanks for sharing!
Bellissimo !
Great
Amazing Karen
Thank you 😊
This was fab. Thank you
Thanks Sonia 😊
I will be trying this today! I’m a tightly wound perfectionist and trying so hard to loosen up! I love very loose watercolor work but my own work, even with the best of intentions, often misses the mark as I overwork and overthink. I think this will be a helpful exercise for me. PS your end result is beautifully ethereal!
So pleased you found this helpful 😊
Karen, I had your video running in the background while attending to my dog. Your voice kept triggering memories until I finally figured out that you sound very like Emma Thompson!
I love a Emma Thompson !
sooooooo nice thank you
Thank you 😊
Очень акварельно ! Спасибо !
Thank you
❤I’ts so nice. I’ll try this😬
Have fun!
Love the freeness of it all. How do you get your paper so wet without it buckling?
Thank you 😊
I mostly use watercolour gummed blocks, which help with keeping the painting from buckling. I also use paper that is 300gms and that seems to help also. I hope this was helpful?
Love this technique!!!Can you use this with any topic such as flowers and nature? If so pleases how us how?? Thanks sooo much....
Thank you! Great suggestion 😊
I was away from the internet for about 3 weeks. I surely missed your channel during that time. I am so glad to be back. I enjoyed this tutorial so much. I was amazed at how you started the painting with the random mix of washes. It's the first time I've seen anything like it. The painting is stunning. I was hoping you could explain what it means when you use the term "atmospheric"?
So pleased you are back and enjoyed watching this tutorial. When I say atmospheric, I mean .
creating a distinctive mood of feeling of the weather. Not representational, more impressionistic and I try to use both soft marks and expressive brushstrokes. There is so much to say. I hope you he the idea 😊
@@KarenRiceArt I understand. Thank you.
Hi Karen, do you sell any of your work? This piece really resonated with me.
So pleased you like this painting. At present I’m not actually selling my artwork, especially those I produce for TH-cam tutorials. I like to have access to the originals for photographs et cetera
@@KarenRiceArt thanks for the reply! I’m really enjoying your tutorials.
Bonjour Karen je voudrais savoir si sur Patreon il y a des sous-titres en français car je ne comprends pas l’anglais …. 🙏
Hi Patricia, at present, there are no subtitles on my petrol tutorials, except English. I am working on publishing future tutorials with subtitles in different languages.
Magnifique peinture !! J’ai du mal à laisser mon imagination vagabonder …. Pourriez-vous nous faire une démo pas à pas avec un portrait svp ? Je ne sais pas si ça vous plairait par contre, je demande on ne sait jamais ….. 😊
Thank you so much. Great suggestion I love painting portraits :-)
Peccato.che d inglese do.molto.poco e non sento le sue spiegazioni.e più d vedere in effetti..
I’m working on trying to get some subtitles for my tutorials 😊
