Learned much just from watching as you worked. More than just the figures but use of the brush, water and paint as well as shapes. I am wanting to be more impressionistic and not too much detail. Very happy to have found your site.

Most of the tutorial that I watch are from artists "across the pond". This one was so informative and fun at the same time. When I've watched several videos in a row, my room mate will say "Why are you talking like you're British? lol I dunno. It just 'appens. (I'm from Arkansas in the US) Love all your videos! I'm learning so much.

Well young lady, if ever you produced a pop of pure joy this was it. Oh Karen, you took us on the most amazing ride and the end result is just phenomenal ✨✨ I loved every second of it and you were in your element. So exicited to try this fabulous technique. I rarely include figures in my landscapes but I will be making some serious changes after this - and dog walkers too!! Thank you so, so much. You made my day 💕💕💕

Great tutorial on creating figures. Love the initial spattering to start defining the rough shapes. Your quick loose technique of creating torsos and legs is a great demonstration. I keep reminding myself to stay loose when doing figures and watching you reinforces that discipline. Thanks for the great demo.

Thank you so much Ted really pleased you enjoyed this figure painting tutorial. I have found teaching students over the years, that practice really helps with painting figures and once they get it they just get better! It’s magical in a way. I hope you enjoy painting figures in your paintings. :-)

I really like this type of painting. This is a loose sort of impressionistic, suggestive, type painting. There is not a lot of detail in this painting yet one can tell exactly what is going on. I would like to see more examples of loose watercolor paintings like this one. Thanks for painting this.

I loved this tutorial! I have been trying for months to stop getting sucked into details when I paint, and to learn to paint loosely. Finally! And I was especially excited that rather than getting frustrated and upset with myself when my painting did not look like yours, I gave myself permission to stop the tutorial (which I had watched previously) and be creative, making the painting my own. I'm really happy with the result, and I'm super self-critical. Oh - and I loved painting the little people. Thank you so much!

Brilliant video, just what I needed to help me with my urban sketching painting. Although these simple figures are great to add interest to some landscapes paintings or village streets for example.
I've been practising the "carrot shape" figures for a few months, but with mixed success. I find it difficult to get proportions right and to match the perspective of a given street scene. Hopefully, this video will help me develop more consistent results, so it is much appreciated.
