I still have my 2011 1200S Sport model in yellow livery and I'm not going to part any time soon with it. It's still a joy to ride, the only thing I miss is a better dashboard (TFT color panel and a better organization of the icons/info on the display).
It’s actually very good, much better than we thought it would be with such a small screen. We did a tour of Europe on them which involved quite a lot of highway riding. At 100mph I got less buffeting on the PP than I did on the BMW GS. Not quite sure how that works but it does. 👍🏻
@@fentontaylor9021I'm finding that US dealers do let the serious go for a short ride. Maybe Ridersshare will have a V4S. The RT had to go off my short list due to too much wind protection less sport for my warm mountainous climate. So I want Bmw to remove speakers for a narrower front end with more air flow when standing. But quiet is nice for tinnitus. Maybe the radar will soon appear on several makes models with the Tracer 9 + going to the US in '24. We need modern sportier touring options.
I would say irrespective of looks, go spend some time on the 1000/1100S... only bike I've kept long term, it's just fun! Looking at the V4 or even a good 1260 now to add mainly for a bit better two up power, but it will compliment the 1000S as opposed to replace.
I'm lucky to have a 2017 1200s with a remap and full termi system plus I brought a V4 pikes peak a few months ago and put the akra racing exhaust on. I love both but the V4 scares me as it's just so damn quick! I won't part with either is the plan.
Oh the 1260 Pikes is the best looking for me by far. I like the V4 but the front end is just not as appealing. I am about to trade my 2015 1200s for a 219 1260 Pikes Peak. Can't wait.
Hi mate, considering that you are familiar with all of them which bike is worth multi 1200s 2015 vs 1260s. Is there any difference socially after a remap. Thanks
I say remove the beak out front, if it really is different geometry/ purpose than the 4S, why have the adv look. Offer a bracket to lower the exhaust can, for a tighter integrated full size right bag to complete the sport touring transformation. The extra tech features then matches the larger target audience and two up buyers. With this hp you need full protection gear with air vests and a place to put them.
Does it have to have the akrapovic exhaust on the V4 or can it have the regular exhaust to get the same numbers? Also you say you have removed the RPM limiter to gain 5 additional horsepower, what if one were to get a false neutral and rev the hell out of the bike? Wouldn't the engine die?
We have not removed the RPM limiters, we have increase the RPM a little, we have removed some of the power limiters. So no chance of revving the engine to destruction.
I've a late 14 pp love it won't change. Does everything . I love the L twin as have a 1098s to. Just enough tech for me . Skyhook is ace for two up touring can switch between sport and touring. Problem is more tech more to go wrong long term ok if you change every 3 years or so. Personally not interested in kick shifter, auto blip etc etc .
I was dead set on buying a V4 sport, but was a little disappointed after a test ride. Then took a 2023 KTM 1290 adventure S for a testride, felt right at home and the torque is really impressive in the lower rpm. Saved me a lot of money also compared to the multi v4.

The 2012 pikes peak with the golden ohlins is the most attractive of all mts's till now. Period.
nah the 2015 is the best looking
Still love the original, I’ve got a 2104 model . Also used to own the Enduro. All excellent machines .
No, it is not dvt engine on the 2011/2013 MY... the dvt model is only for the MY 2015 and after.
V4 pikes peak for me 💥
Could you please , do an in depth 1200s Electronic suspension sett up. Or if you have already covered this please send a link .
Regards 👍 new owner.
How is the wind protection on the Pikes Peak. I ride a 2023 BMW RT, but am really interested in the Pikes Peak!!

Good to know, thank you. Im going to look at one tomorrow, but they dont want to let me test ride it..@@BHPUK
@@fentontaylor9021 seems a world wide phenomenon, no test rides on a PP.

They should have put a 1299 in the 2019 Pikes Peak....Legend
Now that would have been some bike!!

Be goid to see dyno graph overlay of 1260dvt and v4 compare torq n power

@@BHPUK And is the akrapovic exhaust required on the Multistrada v4 in order for the decat/tune to work?
@@Waldo1122 The decat and tune will work with the standard can.

I test rode the V4, didn’t like it. Give me the L twin any day.
