    I know the season is still very young but you can already see that Riley did a lot of work on his defense during the off season. I've seen him make some great plays already this year and I think if he keeps that up this could be his year.

      @@Baseballify in 2021 he actually won MVP. They’re talking about him almost winning, so it wasn’t 2021 they’re talking about. They said he won MVP a few years back. I thought they would be talking about 2021, not 2015, as 2015 was almost 8 years ago now and I wouldn’t consider that “a few”. But I now realize that probably is what they’re referring to, and him almost winning while missing two months is probably referring to 2017 (even though he wasn’t even close to winning MVP that year either)

    As a Braves fan I hope you are right. However, it's hard to rule out Olsen from his start so far this season. He's seeing the ball extremely well and may rack up 120+ RBI. Consistency though is king as you mention. Hopefully Riley's mental coach can help him avoid his dead zone as experienced late last year. Great breakdown!

    Riley isn't flashy and goes about his business. He doesn't seem to talk a whole lot to the local media. Let's be honest...Acuna is propped up by media more because he is flashy/shows off a bit and because they want black players to market to get more black youth into baseball, which MLB has stated is one of its main goals going forward. All good things, don't get me wrong (except that he does appear a bit immature and there are probably better idols to have in MLB). He was also a 20 year old phenom and youthful stars are great for baseball and young people looking up to these guys.

    • @AT-dx9pf
      @AT-dx9pf ปีที่แล้ว

      I truly believe one of the main reasons Freeman wasnt resigned is because, from a marketing standpoint, they wanted Acuna to be the poster child for the organization and Freeman was at least equally popular and was the last link to the "old Braves" of Bobby Cox and Chipper and so on.

    • @pjbuma13
      @pjbuma13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AT-dx9pf it’s well documented the reason he didn’t resign with the Braves was due to bad communication with his old management firm. He found out the truth after the deal was already done. Hence why he fired that management team.

    You can make an argument that Machado had a definitive better year offensively than Riley, but in the modern game .025 average isn't necessarily better 6 more HRs and.025 less average. Arenado is out of the question 8HRs for .020 average? Get outta here with that. Give me the 8 HRs every time.
