Right, you gonna wonder if that ump solely relies on watching where the catcher frames pitches to call strikes. Like that pitch was right down Broadway... no other excuse
As a catcher I’ve never got a strike call when I’ve had my glove facing down. It’s pretty much an indication that the pitch is low, same with standing up for high pitches
This is exactly the type of thing that happens to the Pirates almost every game. That and getting called out for running inside the baseline when the catcher throws the ball away on bunt attempts, regardless of whether they were in fair territory or not.
Dude. You don't see many people that love and analyze baseball like this. I absolutely love it. So hard to find someone that clearly loves the game like I do!
I remember watching this game with my grandpa who passed away just over a year after this, for some reason I have always vividly remember us watching this game even tho we watched probably close to 2000 sports games together over a 6-7 year stretch. Seeing this made me very happy because I think of him and how great this game was
The “Runner on 2nd Base to Start an Extra Inning” Rule has got to be the worst thing MLB has done in years. It is nothing more than a stupid Gimmick to try to “speed up the game”. Even though they added instant replay (which is necessary) and more commercial time between innings, they somehow wonder why games are taking so long. Of course, I am one of those maniacs who will willingly watch a 20 Inning game all the way through, as I enjoy seeing teams scrape the bottom of their rosters after hours of game play. I am also one of those idiots who enjoys seeing a game end 1-0, as pitching is my favorite part of the sport. Offense is fine and necessary in the game, but I think it gets really boring when a team scores 8 runs off of 6 Home Runs. Now with this “Runner on 2nd” Rule, we’re seeing Lead-Off 2-Run Homers, Lead-Off RBI Singles, and Baseball Figure Heads being paid to say they like this idea. If I am the only one who feels this way about this Rule, I should just leave the ballpark after 9 Innings, regardless the score. At least maybe I’ll beat traffic that way.
i hate the rule too- I love baseball the same way you do- I'll watch every pitch. I hope they remove that rule, the 3 batter rule and get rid of the new playoff format. As a Twins fan I feel screwed for the wild card round. Astros kicked our ass, but if it was best of 5 I think we could of won that series. MLB is not doing a good job getting new fans, and then alienating fans like me and you.
At worst the rule SLOWS DOWN the game by basically guaranteeing that the home team gets the run back. At best, it keeps the status quo, and thus isn't worth it. I would be more comfortable with ties! There's at least plenty of precedent for that. Maybe not a hard and fast rule like the NPB's 12-inning limit, but something like, say, if neither team scores (or, if you prefer, reaches base) in the 12th inning or later the game ends; at least in the regular season.
8:00 I'm sorry but even with the movement of the catcher, I don't care if umpires might get stuff on the corners wrong but that was down the middle how do you call that a ball.
The Tigers game had a similar game a few weeks back. They played the Twins and broke the record for allowing the most home runs while still winning the game.
I didn't watch this Tigers game, but i did watch another tigers vs pirates game where the Pirates walked 4 runs on 28 pitches with 0 outs. I'm also a Tigers fan. I liked that game from this season.
If we had this kind of scoring game in the World Series that would’ve been so entertaining for baseball, but obviously Rays and Dodgers had the best staffs in the league so that would’ve clearly never happened Haha.
Hello SportStorm, This is Cullen Craig the CEO of Centerfield Media. I have a vision that every local MLB team can get their own special sports report through video because I think there is a lack of coverage for MLB teams on SportCenter and all of the other big TV channels. Although, with Centerfield Media we will take it one step further by specializing in local baseball team reports, by uploading content on specialized teams news, rumors, and scouting reports. I am recruiting you to be the reporter for the San Diego Padres. If you want to join the Centerfield Media team, you would have to post on TH-cam, Instagram, and Facebook. Benefits will come with making videos, although the main goal is to grow the game for fans of local MLB fans that do not get a lot of video coverage on their favorite teams. If you have any questions or are interested in being part of this company, please get back to me! Also, if you have any other people that you have in mind, that would want to be a part of Centerfield Media please let me know. Thanks for your time! Cullen Craig
Pittsburgh had the the worst record in its league. Detroit had the 2nd worst record in its league, behind Texas. When you say, Pittsburgh had the worst record in the entire league, you meant to say, Pittsburgh had the worst record in the Majors, or in all of Baseball. Fans shouldn't forget, MLB has two leagues, not conferences. Yes, i'm a stickler when it comes to that.
Haha I thought you were gonna talk about the Rangers scoring 30 runs vs the Orioles
Fits the criteria lol
He’s not.
@@joeyhudson5880 nahh does product mean in math with vairables

As a pirates fan this game will be the only thing I remember from this season other then our incredible tank
Not even Hayes’ debut or the no-hitter?
I saw that Adam Frazier was from Georgia and was like "Oh no!"
Yea i saw that too lol

I listened to this game at work. I’m from Pittsburgh and am a Pirates fan, but my favorite team is the Tigers so this was a special game for me.
Ima tigers fan, and i do a pizza delivery job. I listened to majority of this game while driving, probably one of the most fun shifts ive worked😂
Love this vid and this concept! Every season has some hidden gems thanks for zooming in on this one!
That final score tho. Lookin like an NFL game
Lions 17, Steelers 13
Who’s the real winner tho? We have first overall pick.🥶😤😈😈💪🏻

love me some CJ Cron- loved him in 19 with the Twins.
I watched the whole game fell asleep when Detroit’s scores 3 or something
So the SP is dealing and is pulled because a spreadsheet said to take him out. That feels familiar somehow
