    Baby Blue has been a staple in my 62-year top 5 since it came out. I was so pleased that Breaking Bad passed the song on to newer generations at the series' end. And you are right, I was sure that If You Want It was the Beatles when it came out. Badfinger was a great band, and Pete Hamm was a great writer. Their story is tragic, but their musical legacy is beautiful.

      If you haven't already heard it, here is a link to the McCartney demo of the song: th-cam.com/video/JSCVOQv4j6E/w-d-xo.html. Badfinger supposedly wanted to put their own stamp on it, but he insisted it go exactly like this! Love to hear "Baby Blue" has stood the test of time for you...I think it's just a perfectly written pop song and it will stay on my list, as well. Thanks for sharing!

      @@poprocksradio I'm sure your list will be fine. I like the Kinks and Hollies from the early days and the Bangles and Fountains of Wayne from the latter days. There are scads of 2nd tier bands like The Joe Jackson band, Del Amitri, The Knack etc, that could fit, depending on your parameters.

    Ok. First using love me do to start the video. Joey molland’s song that is seldom played and doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Is way cool.
    Second the nova was far from cool unless it was a yenko.
    Third magic Christian then no dice then straight up. Straight up is the one Harrison was to produce.
    But you nailed it. Straight up is a masterpiece.

    • @poprocksradio
      @poprocksradio  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey there...thanks for the feedback! 100% correct on all counts! Since I wanted to use "No Matter What" earlier in the video, I really needed to put something later to clarify the order of the albums - and it definitely makes it seem like I'm saying George was going to produce "No Dice", which is not correct. Also, I think Joey is really underrated as a songwriter and Pete and Tom get most of the attention. "Sweet Tuesday Morning" is one of the loveliest songs in their catalog, in my humble opinion. And I must confess...had to look up the yenko...correct there, as well, my friend!

      Your videos are well executed. I’m not sure if you do long form but a long form video by you about badfinger would be great. Especially since you have a better “understanding “ of Joey’s importance. Also very few cover Bob Jackson’s time in Badfinger. Especially the songs he did with Tom evans just before evans committed suicide Oh I got to talk to Jackson for over an hour on Evans’ last tour

    The biggest mistake Badfinger made was being “democratic “ in its song selection. Pete Ham, and to a lesser extent Tom Evans, were the best songwriters. And singers.
    If every album was heavy Ham and Evans, this band would have been better prepared for the brutal road they traveled. Although it may not have made a difference.
    One fan’s opinion. I do own their full catalogue (including Wish you were here); so believe I’m at least informed.

    • @poprocksradio
      @poprocksradio  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You know, hadn't thought about it like that, but that could be...so many things went wrong with those poor guys. Though I'm partial to Straight Up, many people feel Wish You Were Here is their best album...I never get tired of either. 😀 Thanks for watching!

      @@poprocksradio Thank you for still remembering this band. Straight Up is still my favorite by far, but WYWH has a few gems on it (Love Time ?). Even Head East, or whatever it would up being labeled had a few ( Lay me Down, Keep Believing).
      At the end of the day, Pete was right - sol polley was a heartless bastard, and Joey Mollard brought more grief (my opinion) than benefit. His wife especially.
      Molland apparently was so annoyed about Pete backing up George at Bangladesh concert Pete wrote “Take it All”.
