As a born and bred Southern Californian, I went to Sizzler often with my family. Yes, Meatball Tacos from the taco bar. This is why Anthony Bourdain touch so many lives: he never looked down on a restaurant that may be common. He ate at Sizzler and enjoyed it. I will miss his voice.

One thing i loved about Anthony is that he could go anywhere and fit in. He wanted to experience everything the way it was intended and loved to see the world through your eyes; no judgement and an open mind. Who knows how many people he influenced to go out and eat or experience something new. To me people like that make the world a better place. ❤

I'm a Korean American who was poor for much of his life (my family is doing very well now but my parents came here with $300 lol). We are now considered upperclass but we still have that desperate immigrant, lower-class mentality: we never buy nice things, we never buy expensive things unless we absolutely have to, when we eat out...we eat at fast-food restaurants and places like sizzler and TGI Friday is a major stepup that I personally haven't had for like months and I love those places. Funny thing is...my parents, especially, are millionaires but they always say you won't be a millionaire if you get cocky and forget about your roots. My dad says the most important thing in a person is their work ethics. He fucking loves honest illegal Mexican immigrants that are desperate and hard working and hate a lot of the flashy Koreans that are willing to be on huge debt to showoff good cars and houses lol.

Sizzler is definitely a food experience that resonates with a lot of children of immigrants to America.
In the early 2000s, I dated a woman who was a child when her parents came to America from war-torn Afghanistan during the Soviet occupation, and she absolutely LOVED Sizzler. She had fond memories of family dinners from the Sizzler buffet, and she also did the "meatball taco."

      C. S. I’d been to that sizzler many times after school. It was on my way home down Vermont. Miss that place. I used to hotbox with some classmates on the way home and we’d stop at sizzler and that salad bar was so good

I was only talking about sizzler the other day saying it would be nice to see it come back again. Partly because there is nothing like that now and secondly nostalgia

Born in Korea in 79 and came to the States in 90. This shit hits like ton of bricks, mixed with Miyukgook and a hint of Al Bundy. Miss you Anthony.

My regional version of Sizzler (Ryan's steakhouse) closed all their locations 10+ years ago. As son of vietnamese immigrants, this was also where we went for special occasions. I can literally afford to go to one of the best steak houses in the country, and I do, But I always miss Ryan's and buffets like this

I was shocked when he went to this freaking Sizzler! I live like twenty minutes by car from there and ate there when I was younger. Wow, looks nicer now. And the salad bar has definitely expanded :)
And yes, NO SNARKOLOGISTS at Sizzler.

Growing up in Alaska, where a head of lettuce in the early 80's was about $8, eating at Sizzler and getting the salad bar was a monthly thing.

In Korea there's this steakhouse chain called Vips that's a lot like what I imagine Sizzler is like (although probably a little nicer). They may even have the taco shells and taco meat in the buffet section, which you rarely see elsewhere in the country.
I wonder if it might have been started by a Korean who'd experienced Sizzler in LA or someplace.

I lived few blocks away from this sizzler during my college years and my roommate and I would treat ourselves to a steak and salad bar if we had extra money left over or special occasion to celebrate lol... Sometimes I miss being a broke student.
