2021 August i had same issue with wyze cam v2.. followed this video. It Works!! But u have to find a way to hold down button for 5min. I used a flat head screwdriver.. due to your finger will hurt or left up before download is complete. Also i used the lasted update on there firmware site.. it saved me $35.00 for replacement! Thank you.
So far so good. One of my wyze cams bricked on me. I tried several suggested attempts at fixes to no avail. I just found your video and it looks like it is working it is going through a very long setup sequence but its actually responsive again. THANK YOU.
Hello, can someone tell me how I download the update? My camera doesn't connect, it's never happened before, and now I see this video and I have the same problem 😢
Thanks for the great video. I followed and the firmware version you used in the video but it didn't work. I tried the version that the other mentioned 4.9.5.115 and it works perfectly. Note that in the app any firmware upgrade would brick the camera again. Wyze did a poor job on their support and firmware development. Hope this information helps the others. Thanks again.
Update - After reflashing to 4.9.5.115, I tried automatic upgrade and it didn't respond to the app for 20 minutes. I then pushed the setup button and "Ready to Connect" sound popped up. After re-adding the camera to my app, I found the camera was upgraded to a near-recent firmware version and the system asked for another upgrade. The 2nd firmware upgrade seems to work well and now my v2 camera is up to date. Hopefully Wyze won't blick their cameras again.
I was looking for an outdoor camera to keep an eye on my dogs in the yard when I'm not home. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe Tried a different one that was absolutely terrible, so I got these instead. They work perfectly! With 3 of these cameras I can see every corner of the yard, and they were very easy to set up. The best part is I only get the footage I want to see, not hours of videos of the bird feeder swaying in the breeze.
I'll add my experience here. I have a Wyze cam v2. I have been using it with a 256gb SD card without any issues Today I had this "yellow solid light of death" issue. Tried to flash it using that card several times, nothing happened. Then I remembered that FAT32 has issues in drives over 32GB (even though Wyze cam and my Windows/Ubuntu computers had no issue reading/writing to the 256GB card). Tried with a smaller card (8GB) and it worked!!
Hey i had a 64gb storage and what I did was use rufus to format it to fat32. I downloaded this firmware for my V2 camera 'demo_V2_RTSP_4.28.4.41'. That one has RSTP so i was able to enable rstp stream and then use frigate software instead for NVR and send it to home assistant app and the use duck dns to access from external. Then on modem block external access for wyze v2 so it cant communicate outside my network it only sends the rstp stream to my NVR(frigate running on pc). On my phone i just use home assistant. They should really support RSTP there is a big market for it but I think there is more money for them selling subscriptions rather than giving people customizable options.
hum so you kept your finger pressed on the reset button throughout?? I only saw the instruction to press it until the orange light turned blue.. I need to try your method
My V2 has the solid yellow light, I noticed that the firmware downloaded is for the pan cam. Looking by this video it seams to have fixed the wyze cam. I will give this a try
did it work with the "pan" cam firmware?..the video shows he has regular v2 camera..same as me but v2 firmware will not work..was wondering if "pan" firmware is the fix
i just took a new V2 out of the box and it started right up - THEN I DID THE LATEST UPDATE - Doomsday! solid yellow light and would not reconnect. They WYZE wanted me to buy the next cam up naturally NO WAY I SAID this is only six months old I WANT A NEW CAMERA - she said they will send me one. In the mean time I will try this fix on my older V1 CAMS (six of them that got the dreaded doom of gloom solid Yellow light) convenienty so I would have to buy the V2
I used oldest firmware I could find.. 4.9.5.115 (August 31, 2020) and then I had to keep it pressed for 1~2 min longer than this video. It is slightly different, but eventually the light changed. I was able to set up. But when I updated the firmware from wyze app again, it went brick again. (yellow light). Spent almost another hour to reflash the firmware.... Do NOT update if your camera is having this problem. Mine was V2.
HI, thanks for the video, is this a V2 camera? I have a V2 with the same problem but want to find the correct firmware. I used yours, with the rename but I am thinking I have the wrong version. I did a couple odd light changes then shut down.
Unforunately this didn't work for my Wyze Cam v2. The camera's LED turned blue when I held the Setup button, but then it went back to solid yellow regardless of holding the button. This is a brand new Cam v2 I unboxed (in 2024) that I bought a long time ago. It paired with the app ok, but after firmware upgrade it bricked. Evidently Wyze did not test the full firmware upgrade path from a really old firmware version.
One firmware which did sort of "work" was the "webcam" firmware. The LED slow-blinked light blue as expected. But I don't have the non-standard USB A-to-A cable to test if it's truly functional as a webcam.
Im in the exact situation as you, bought 8 cameras in 2019, used 7 of them ,never unboxed the last one till today (Oct 2024), it set up normally on the app, immediately after setup, it asked to update, then the update bricked it, i manged to note down the original firmware 4.9.2.25 (then it was trying to upgrade to 4.9.9.2351) I have tried quite a number of firmwares including the one it tried to upgrade to still no luck. Tried the hack in this video it hasnt worked, instead turned blue after the update (not the purple that happens during update but a solid blue AFTER the update) did you get yours to work?
After lightning storm, 1 out of 2 cameras came online. The 2nd one doesn't light, connect.. nothing 😠. Changed cord, outlet, unplugged for half a day, reset, deleted camera..won't work period😤
I have a solution that worked perfectly for me I put it on the floor got on my sofa, jumped and landed on the camera then jumped 4 more times until it was disintegrated. Then went to home depot and bought another one. Problem Solved
The fix is much simpler than that, get a hammer and hit the wyze camera until completely flat, get an envelope and send it back to wyze camera support. And ask them to have it for lunch.
So unfortunately, this method didn’t work for me, I held in that stupid crazy small button for 10 mins and nothing happened, just a solid yellow light...I guess you get what you pay for...a piece of junk
blue mean its loading the firmware if after 5 minutes it doesnt start flashing try to use an older firmware I had success with the rtsp firmware for mt v2 cam 'demo_V2_RTSP_4.28.4.41'
I deleted my V2 from the App hoping it will solve the "offline" issue and not taking the updates. Now it blinks yellow, followed all the steps and after reading the QR code I receive the message it couldn't connect. Have done all troubleshooting posted in the forums and nothing. Does anybody know what to do in this case? Thank you!
This fix DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE (if it ever actually did) in JULY of 2023. Save yourself the aggravation. You'll also notice he loads Wyze Cam PAN firmware onto a V2. When others have asked him about this, all he says is he loaded the version (the PAN version) he shows in the video. I've tried that as well, as ridiculous as it seems, and of course it doesn't work! This guy is full of BS! IF it ever worked (which is doubtful) it certainly doesn't work now. In his video the light remains yellow from the moment he applies power and is holding in the reset button. Today, doing that will turn the light blue after a few seconds. so it DOES NOT WORK! You've been warned. Save your time...this is all BS!
Well, as of August 2023, you're half right. I got a set of V2 Cams from a friend after enjoying my current V3 setup. All 3 V2s he gave me worked out the box, but needed updates. Not knowing better, I let the app update the firmware on all of them. The end result being one fine, two bricked. I needlessly tried other solutions until I got to this video. Surprisingly, following the steps in the video (except I actually used the correct device firmware type, not the pan or anything else) got one of the bricked cameras working again! I haven't updated it's firmware in the app and I don't plan to since it seems all it'll do is brick it again. The last V2 camera still remains bricked, with the light remaining blue for a bit and then shifting back to orange. But still, now I got two working V2s to add to my setup instead of one - as of right now. When I spoke to Wyze, they offered to credit $15 per non-working camera, but you would need to provide receipts which I don't have. I'm just gonna hold onto this third V2 to see if I can eventually get it to work or if I'll repurpose it for something else. I don't think this guy is full of BS as people obviously had success with his tutorial. Also, dude's video is about to be 3 years old, so the fact that it's still helping some people should actually go to his credit. I think depending on manufacture dates/locations, some Wyze cams are defective and don't accept traditional reset codes or procedures. Don't blame it on this dude - instead voice your concerns to Wyze themselves for shotty software deliveries. @joehowto thanks for the video!

How long? I followed these steps and now it's stuck going between solid blue and solid yellow every few minutes..not sure what's going on.
