‘Strange Weather’, a cover of the Keren Ann original, is a stunning collaboration between Anna Calvi and David Byrne, released 14th July 2014.
The 5 track covers EP was produced by Thomas Bartlett (The National, Antony and the Johnsons, Sam Amidon) and recorded in New York. It features covers of tracks by Suicide, David Bowie, FKA twigs, Connan Mockasin and Keren Ann. The cover of Suicide’s Ghost Rider was recorded with drummer Matt Johnson (Jeff Buckley), and Nico Muhly contributes string arrangements to the EP opener, a deconstructed organic reworking of FKA twigs’ ‘Papi Pacify’, which is available to stream here - / papi-pacify
Directed in NYC by Alan Del Rio Ortiz.
Anna Calvi’s new album ‘Hunter’ will be released 31st August 2018 on Domino Record Co. Pre-order here: smarturl.it/HunterMart

Anna i love you
Mi😂
Normal People has just captured my heart. What an emotional rollercoaster that I didnt want to get off. A true masterpiece. Connell and Marrianne soulmates...just like my husband and I. An obsessive love that is hard to describe.
Just finished it. The best bit was hearing David Byrne starting to sing. I was falling asleep before that
@@Scumbelina55 The mise-en-scene is also so fitting for this song. Really felt like I was watching poetry.
The beauty of melancholy - top tracks, go?
Happy for you.💕 All the best 💗
it was outstanding
one of the most beautifully sad songs i've ever heard. Anna is severely underrated.
We meet millions of people, and I never truly click with anyone. I relate to Marianne and Connell, on many levels. And I love my life, but I just hurt a bit when I realize that there's so many people, yet there's no one, ever. No one has ever gotten me like these characters get each other. I'm hopeful, but I don't want to go not having had that, somehow. What's weird is that I read these comments about how Normal People resonated with "you" too. Where are "you", then, when I go out the house ? Are you all hiding behind faces and words, so that I can't *recognize* you ? We all 'seem' to be like the characters in this series, but when it comes to it, it's still just make-believe. Fact is I'm still struggling to be myself around others, and when I'm myself people find me weird. Nothing changes.
Normal people episode 11 perfect song for that end of the episode
kam henry Best thing I’ve watched for a long time.
Yes broo I loved this series ❤️
I’m still thinking about the end of that episode, it was so moving 💔
@@farrelljuliet189 Me too! Such amazing television. Such emotion 💖
I ve just watched the full series. Think it’s one of the best things I ve seen. So moving.
Now this song is gonna get millions of views - By order of the Fooking Peaky Blinders
Heah Heah!!
Sometimes you watch a trailer or an episode and there's a staggeringly good piece of music. This is one of those times. Peaky Blinders is just awesome...
YESSSSSSSS
Nope ..peaky fooking blinders
Thats right eh !
More than good this song is haunting.
I adore this song. Criminally underrated. The whole EP is great too.
Here because of Normal People. This scene was so raw and emotional. This song compliments it beautifully. Just stunning!!!! #NormalPeople
Syed Madni ah which scene was this from? :)
@@isabellarobinson7069 End of episode 11. Scene where Connell and Marianne drive into the distance :) Did you enjoy the show?
Syed Madni I loved it!! Especially the sound track it created the perfect atmosphere for those scenes! I want to watch it all again but I think I need to recover first haha
@@isabellarobinson7069 That scene at the end of episode 11 is just one of the best things I have ever seen, and the soundtrack as you say is so perfectly matched to it. Connell for the first time truly loses his anxieties and when he asks Marianne to look at him and he tells her he will never let her get hurt again and that he loves her, is said with such strength of feeling and the first time, truly, Marianne, whose self worth is just so low, knows Connell is there for her, no ifs and buts...just pure love for her. I could watch that scene over and over. They have found each other.
But it's by keran Anne the brilliant French artist
All the musics in Normal People fits so well in each scenes!!! So grateful to watch a show where every thing fits so well:
1. Of course I will read the book!! In portuguese and in english.
2. The story is normal, but the way was presented it was so beautiful!
3. The actors and actresses chosen for the story. Daisy Edgar - Jones and Paul Mescal have a magical chemistry in the beginnig until the end! Awesome!! Sarah Green like Lorraine it was so cuuute and perfect. What mom!
4. Places. Ireland have beautiful places. Sligo is a cute city!!! I never heard about it. Dublin and Trinity College, omg, I really want to visit all these places!!!
5. And all the musics in each scene??? I cried every time! When they are happy, sad, loving each other...
6. I really could see me in Marianne and in Connell.
7. Love is strange, magnificent, hard and beautiful.
Perfect comment
- Lyrics
[David Byrne]
She'll take you back, don't make believe
You wanna think it through
I've loved before, I'll love again
I know that yours was true
[Anna Calvi]
Wake up slowly, there are blue skies
Cutting white lines in black matter
I see them shinin' through your drunken eyes
Carving silver in strange weather
[David Byrne]
She'll meet a man, we'll make a home
And travel to the deep
Of further lines with hidden dreams
The broken heart to keep
[David Byrne + Anna Calvi]
Wake up slowly, there are blue skies
Cutting white lines in black matter
I see them shinin' through your drunken eyes
Carving silver in strange weather
[Anna Calvi]
She'll take you back, don't make believe
You wanna think it through
I've loved before, I'll love again
I know that yours was true
[David Byrne + Anna Calvi]
Wake up slowly, there are blue skies
Cutting white lines in black matter
I see them shinin' through your drunken eyes
They only want me in STRANGE WEATHER
In a small room, on a naked floor
With the blinded heart of black matter
I could hear you through the front door
Carving silver in STRANGE WEATHER
[Anna Calvi]
She'll take you back, don't make believe
You wanna think it through
[David Byrne]
I've loved before, I'll love again
I know that yours was true
Beautiful
I cried (possibly about time) twice this morning watching the last two episodes of Normal People. I think it was more because the show resonated with me, but this song got me going at one point too. So very beautiful!
At episode 11 of normal people, of all songs played in this show, this is the best, so raw and emotional like the story of Connell and Marianne
Heard this for the first time this morning on BBC 6 Music while driving through the dystopian landscape that is Birmingham city centre with it`s ring road and underpasses, quite chilling and easily my fave song of the year so far.
Straight here from Normal People. ❤️
Same just saw normal people this weekend !
One of the most vunerable, gorgeous song i've heard in a long time.
I can't get enough of this song, so beautiful
Yeah me too 😭😭
Never seen any PB episodes, but will start for sure. On the other hand, go find Anna Calvi and her albums....she and they are awesome!
They are great
This is the music that should be on the radio.
Keren Ann is such a wonderful song writer... Strange Weather is one of her best songs.
And Keren Ann's version of her own song is much better!!!
@@netzachsephirah huge facts
i heard this song on a radio and my first love broke up with me like a month ago so i came here looking for other comments about heartbreak but all i found was that this song was used is ten thousand things haha. oh well. beautiful songs. i was looking for meaning online but couldnt find it, but the part "ive loved before, ill love again, i know that yours was true" helps me a lot
Just finished normal people. Listening to its whole playlist rn. Tell me who's here after watching that show.
Late commenting, but really if you are listening to the whole playlist...I would substitute the cover of Love will Tear Us Apart for the original...nobody can do outdo Joy Division.
I am. And my god, Im way too emotional, I can't even describe what Im feeling right now.
i'll go... and I'll stay...
@@imene5361 I totally forgot that I left a comment here. 😂😂 It's been a year.
Damn. What a feeling
its May 2024 here , just finished it and i loved Everything about it , i've never seen a happy sad end in my life like this one 💔❤️🩹
Liverpool BT thanks for this music
I've just finished Normal People and I can't believe how pretty this song and the series was. I felt that
Listened to this on Liverpool Premier League video. Beautiful song.
Great and powerful song, tears fills my eyes every time!

I'm here because Anna is an amazing artist and the song is brilliant in its own right.
BT Sport's montage of Liverpool, Champions of England.
Beautiful football edit. One of the best edit.
Amazing.
"I've loved before. I'll love again. I know that yours...was true."
back here after 2 years because of normal people. this is one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. makes me cry every time.
this is beautiful and a great pairing, I love Anna and I'm a big fan of David's and I loved Talking Heads.... amazing!!!
Regalo bellissimo questo incontro. Distillato potentissimo di emozioni. Brividi
This song makes me feel every possible emotion.
does it make you feel any happiness?
Anna e Byrne uma associação meia improvável, mas com um resultado sublime. é isto que nos toca.
I loved this song as soon as I heard it for the first time at the end of Episode 11 of Normal People, but this music video makes me love it even more! The girl who's the main focus of the video (00:19) is beautiful and mysterious, and the way I see the video is that she's stuck in a love triangle with the blonde girl at 1:29 and the guy at 2:06. She's very torn up about it. It's really tragic and beautiful at the same time.
Gorgeous video and song. Gave me all kinds of chills
Brilliant song,thank you very much...
Peaky fookin Blinders brought me here
Love the song ❤
видел утром этот же коммент под фильмом сволочи

Normal people and Peaky blinders ;both productions have such a significant relevancy to this song in their own ways .
What a masterpiece
