Seeing the mistakes for Pokerap, Thunder Armor, Seviper & Arbok, and calling Furret a ground type makes me wonder if the Pokemon writers ever play the games

Here is another thing in Pokemon that made absolutely no sense in hell. Pikachu, Ash's main Pokemon, who is probably Level 80 by Sinnoh, beating two legendaries, to lose to Trip's Snivy who never battled!
I dont think the anime relies on level like the game do. It relies on battle techniques. Instead of relying on level to evolve the anime most likely rely on max experience or when they are highly skilled enough to evolve. Plus u can't see the level above their head in battle so hcyk

The jelly doughnut thing is even more egregious considering that in another episode Brock is in the process of forming Onigiri when he says 'when you have lemons, you make lemonade, and when you have rice, you make rice balls.'
Right like when he meets a "Mewtwo" in the genesect movie and yet has absolutely no idea what she was (female voice ergo Female pokémon) despite having met the Team Rocket created Mewtwo in region 1s mewtwo strikes back then again at a later date in i think one or two regions later, probably coz the second mewtwo was created by the Bad guys in Unova and this one had Mega evolution as default
I would say ash has forgotten a lot because he has gotten hit on the head over the years a huge amount of time as well as being shocked by electricity. Probably suffering from memory loss

It is also ironic that Rhydon got the ability Lightning Rod in later gens...which doesn't make it not immune to Electric Type attacks, but actually renders all Electric type moves useless, even from an ally Electric Type.
I only found out like 3 years ago that Pokemon was Japanese. I always thought it was an American show. I haven't watched it past orange islands so whatever
I thought there was gonna be a honorable mention like: Ash and his traveling companions bringing everything like tents, swimsuits, and cooking equipment in their backpacks Ash returning Corphish and sending him out at the same time while battling Anabel Brandon's Regirock destroying Paul's Electabuzz's Protect with Stone Edge etc.
the move that can actually break through Protect (and by extention Detect) is Feint. i know this because my Lucario in White 2 had it before i replaced it with Bone Rush.
Well....okay, in a real-world setting, I could see a strong enough attack puncturing Protect, especially a STAB-bonus Stone Edge from a Legendary against a second-stage Pokemon, and while I don't recall how the Ash/Anabel fight went, returning a Pokemon and then immediately sending them back out could maybe cure the Confusion status as it does in the games. Plus, its possible in the Pokemon universe to put an animal as large as a Wailord inside a ball no larger than an orange, so...maybe the backpacks also contain super-advanced tech (Silph or Devon?) that miniaturizes supplies..?
@@jacktheomnithere2127 "Protect failed" Maybe protects that fail are just protects that got broken. In the game, using protect multiple times can cause it to fail. Maybe this is what a failed protect looks like, when one breaks.
I like to believe Pikachus thunderbolts cannot harm his allies, especially after they've gone thru that amount of "shock therapy" training with Ash and Pikachu's spark/spirit
Late I know but Swellow being a badass is why I can buy the Thunder Armor. At face value it's silly and out of nowhere, except for one detail. Ash's Swellow always had a stubborn never back down attitude towards electric attacks. Remember Ash basically had to catch it to keep it from basically battling to the point of irreversible injury or death because it just refused to fall to Pikachu's electric attacks. Furthermore as a Tallow it was the leader of its flock so it wasn't exactly run of the mill.

How does Gary having a car make no sense? He's the grandson of one of the greatest researchers ever. It would make PERFECT sense that his parents spoiled the hell out of him! I've seen 12 year olds on MTV that had multiple cars that they owned and couldn't drive. Honestly though this list brings up good points I don't feel it was fully thought through.

Most of these are dub errors and/or changes, and it's been established, especially under 4Kids, that the dubbers had absolutely no idea what the show they were working on was about. Referring to those as anime errors is misleading, as they're dub errors. Most of those errors didn't exist in the original Japanese version. As for the real world animals, those haven't appeared since the first season, way back in 1997-1999. Obviously the show retconned their existence. Also, Miltank didn't exist in Gen 1 when Ash was in the cow costume, so he couldn't possibly have dressed as one.
Only #7, 4, 2, and maybe 5 could be considered dub errors, and even so, they indeed make no sense to dub viewers. (And even if the line about Venonat not being a Bug type wasn't in the original script, it still makes no sense that Misty isn't scared of it.) Also, retconned or not, #6 still technically counts as something that "makes no sense."
I'm surprised you didn't include Ash having no clue what love is when he and co meet a Cottonee in love with another Cottonee in the Black and White series, despite that, in the earlier episodes of SEASON ONE, he had to help his Butterfee with its love life, having a complete grasp on the concept. Meaning he was very aware of the concept when he first started his journey, but somehow became completely dense to it later into his journey. Also, I was surprised by the audio during the pokerap.

Things in the Pokemon Anime that dumbfound me: Team Rocket still being active despite their incompetence. The sudden downgrade to a "We don't take anything seriously" mood in Sun and Moon, despite how good the "We take EVERYTHING seriously" mood in X and Y was. Why fans are still dumbfounded by how Ash "never ages".
Well, Jessie, James, and Meowth were actually kicked out for a time back in Johto. After that, Giovanni has kept them around just for the value they bring in disrupting the other regions' criminal teams. Even though their supposed actions against Teams Aqua and Magma were a bluff, they really did help stop Teams Galactic, Plasma, and Flare.

Actually another comment said that maybe it was supposed to reflect the 'guts' ability, which I think gives buffs if a pokemon has a status condition, which could be the paralysis from the electric attack.

They forgot the one where Ash and the gang gets thirsty and they don't use their water type pokemon (example: Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea movie)

6 is simply a retcon. In gen 1 Pokemon were merely mutant animals like quirk humans in MHA. But by the time of Gen 3 Game Freak retconned the story to basically make Pokemon having been there all along.
Yeah i always thought that the "Jelly Filled Donuts" looked to weird to be actual donuts back as a kid. It wasn't until I got more serious with anime that i found what they actually are, Onigiri. XD
8:03 Actually Misty wasn't a gym leader at this point in time of the anime version. Her 3 older sisters were the gym leaders of the Cerulean gym until they just kinda pawned it off on Misty after winning some vacation trip at the end of the Master Quest series. Why they didn't take back their gym leader positions after they finished their vacation I have no idea.
I'm glad somebody called out these errors. I was actually hoping you'd also call out more Pokemon attacks that shouldn't work because of type disadvantages.
Remember when Ash’s Sliggoo evolved into Goodra by using Rain Dance, while in the games only natural rain triggers the evolution? Guess they needed a quick way to evolve it.
They've also had other episodes with stupid evolution methods in the anime too, even in the most recent ones; Ash's Lucario evolved from Max Happiness...but it was NIGHT TIME! But Riolu evolves in the Day Time only! 😲
Even officially, some evolution methods are weird: Inkay evolved by holding your 3DS upside down past a certain level; Milcery evolves by holding certain items and you spinning in place certain ways; Galarian Farfetch'd evolves by achieving three critical hits in one battle; the list goes on.

Pokémon Advanced Episode 6: A Poached Ego! Errors At one point, when Rico orders his Fearow to attack, he tells it to use "Fury" rather than Fury Attack. When Team Rocket is seen plotting against Rico, after they were blasted off, the sound of Wobbuffet coming out of his Poké Ball can be heard even though he is standing right next to Jessie. After Meowth falls down the hill, the "R" on James's white uniform is missing. The blurb for this episode spells Tyranitar as Tyrannitar. Along with this, the blurb also spells Weezing as Wheezing and Fearow as Fearrow.
Because it was the main character of Electric Soldier Porygon and more likely to be associated with the episode than Pikachu, who caused the whole thing.
Dishonorable Mentions: *What Immunity? -There have been several moments throughout the Pokemon anime where a pokemon has taken damage from or been knocked out by a certain attack despite its typing being immune to those types of moves. Brock's Onix being defeated by Pikachu's thunderbolt despite being part ground-type and being immune to electric attacks, Scizor being defeated by Croagunk's poison jab despite being part steel-type and immune to poison attacks, Ash's Turtwig being affected by another Turtwig's leech seed despite being a grass type and immune to leech seed, James' Inkay being affected by an Espurr's Psychic despite being part dark-type and immune to psychic-type moves, the list goes on and on. *Mold Breaker -While battling Roark's Cranidos, it has an ability called "Mold Breaker," which negates enemy abilities. Such as stopping static in its place. Or that's what the anime would have us believe. News Flash, Mold Breaker, doesn't, work, that, way! In the games, Mold Breaker ACTUALLY negates enemy abilities that grant immunities. Abilities like Levitate, Volt Absorb, Battle Armor, Flash Fire, Etc. *Soaking Mudsdale -This one... might be plausible? To gain an edge over Hapu's Ground-type Mudsdale, Ash gets the idea to trick Mudsdale into knocking over a pillar into the water at high tide. Mudsdale is splashed with water and soaked. The onlookers mention that this is similar to the move, soak, which turns the target into a pure water-type in the games. So by that logic, Pikachu is able to TKO Mudsdale with a powerful Z-Move it had just now become weak to, Gigavolt Havoc. Jury is still out out on this though. e_o *Holding the pokeball Shut -When catching a pokemon, why does LITERALLY NO ONE get the idea to just hold the pokeball shut so that the pokemon can't break out? And more importantly, why don't the games implement this feature?! It would be a godsend! Even Smosh did this in a sketch of theirs, holding the ball shut and sealing it by wrapping it in duct tape.
There's this type immunity error where the move Psychic got used on a Aqua/Magma Grunt's Poochyena & still affected it by slamming him into a tree, when the Dark type wolf cub should have not been affected by it.
Actually, the anime uses a different logic than in the games. Game logic, being too simplified to account for physics, just says "all ground types are immune to electric, etc." Put anime logic into a real world setting. Take ground and flying, you can, theoretically, hit a bird by throwing a glob of mud like the moves mud bomb, mud slap, and mud shot, very similar to the move rock throw. Pikachu hitting Onix after it got drenched by the fire sprinklers could have worked the same as Mudsdale. Soaked earth IRL does act as a conductor for lightning and may be what allowed electric attacks to bypass the type immunity. As for Scizor, the poison may not have bothered it, but the physical hit might have. Just like Palpitoad not being bothered by the electricity of thunder fang, but Stoutland's teeth were painfully keeping it trapped, then it used ice fang to hurt really it.
10. Obviously, Grace set up the laptop before she left. The bigger issue is that she left an expensive computer out on the front lawn that Rhydon could accidentally step on, or someone with a Pokémon strong enough to beat Rhyhorn and Fletchling could potentially steal it. 9. Did Ash say he didn't recognize it? You do know that Ash will use his Pokédex to remind himself about previously encountered Pokémon in addition to newly encountered ones, don't you? 8. Who says Gary can't ride in someone's car for traveling on his journey? He's not driving it himself, and nothing says he has to own the car. Maybe his parents lent him and his friends one of their cars for all we know. His grandfather is a world famous scientist with a huge ranch, after all, so I'm sure his family is loaded. 7. Yes, that was a ridiculously stupid error. It was also far from the only time that the Trainer's Choice segment screwed up, just the biggest error they made. Thank goodness they dropped it and went back to Who's That Pokémon after the R/S part of the series. 6. Yeah, that was an outdated concept back at the beginning of the anime when they never could've expected that the franchise would eventually expand so much to make Pokémon analogs of almost all major animal species, nor that the anime itself would last so long as to include all of them. 5. Yeah, that was weird, especially since Venonat is one of the creepier looking Bug types. 4. Heh, somehow I never realized that before. 3. Ah, yes, *that* fight. While most of Ash's unorthodox strategies do make sense to at least a degree, that literal plot armor was absolute BS. It probably would've become a meme were it not for the similar already existing one at #1. 2. Aw, come on, don't mock the doughnuts! Still, that was just a poor localization choice, not an actual headscratcher. Besides, if you were new to anime at the time (like most of us originally watching this were) and had no idea what a rice ball was, calling them doughnuts isn't the worst thing you could do. 1. Of course, we can't do without this classic meme that contradicted everything we knew about type advantages and disadvantages. It became even more ridiculous in hindsight once we got the Lightning Rod Ability. Other good ones: Every time the first season mistook Rock types as having immunity to Electric attacks instead of Ground types, most notably when Kabutops was immune to Pikachu's electricity. Conversely, Pikachu *was* somehow able to defeat a Marowak with an Electric attack. Every time a Normal type or part Normal type took damage from Ghost type attacks Whenever putting a Pokémon to sleep (or other status condition like when Bulbasaur was paralyzed by Erika's Tangela) acted as an automatic win condition Whenever a Pokémon could fire off multiple Hyper Beams without needing to rest/recharge When Exeggcute evolved without a Leaf Stone Why doesn't Wobbuffet ever take damage when using Counter and Mirror Coat? It's supposed to return double the damage only after tanking that damage first! How is May so stacked at 10 years old?! Norman's Slakoth and Slaking weren't encumbered by the Truant Ability Somehow, Kanto was suddenly full of wild 2nd and 3rd gen Pokémon upon Ash's return to challenge the Battle Frontier.
Funny enough. The Rhyhorn family did gain the Lightning Rod ability later. (course that still doesn't allow for them to take more damage) lol And who doesn't like a good "jelly donut"? 🍙
First episode makes no sense at all cus apparently four kids turned 10 at the same time in such a tiny town. Plus they could only pick from 3 Pokémon which left one out and yet Oak was not prepared for that. And he didnt even consider telling Ash when he arrived. How could he only have ONE of each starter? He is the official professor in that region. And how the hell do organic creatures turn into light that can be stored in a ball upon touching it? And how do you even controle that ball? People just say "return" and a light pops out. The Seviper segment and Pokérap is just a bad error - not really lack of logic. In general you missed a huge opportunity to point out a lot of things that actually dont make sense.
Okay so, there is an actual explenation for that but comes in WAAAAAAY later, Celebi's movie at that, in which young Sam Oak meets Ash with Pikachu. At the end of the movie, it's shown that modern day Professor Oak keeps a drawing he made of Pikachu and Celebi, so he remembers meeting Ash and that he had a Pikachu with him. So, he purposely went and gave Pikachu to Ash, knowing that they would become friends eventually (there are theories that he even could have hidden all other starters so Ash would end with Pikachu no matter what). Of course this creates a time paradox about how Ash even gets Pikachu before time travel, but whatever...
Plus how Ash caught all starters in the wild while we couldn't do that in the game and only Charmender evolved for some reason while Bulbasaur and Squirtle never did, like wtf? Did they ever evolve? I haven't watched the show past orange islands
I remember a Pokémon episode (which I can't remember its title of) where ghost Pokémon are weak against psychic Pokémon, even though it is the other way around. It really confused me as a kid.
Ash dexing Koffing doesn't mean he forgot it, he has always used his Pokedex on Pokémon he has seen before, but unless he says "Who's that Pokémon?" he knows what it is. And not only that, this was in fact the FIRST TIME Ash has looked up Koffing on his Pokedex.
4:30 He never drives himself, though. He always has a driver. He's the rich grandson of Professor Oak, so I'm not surprised he would spend his parents' (or his grandpa's) money on travelling by car.
How Gary managed to catch any Pokemon is beyond me. Grace could have given the laptop to her Pokemon and showed Fletchling how to use it, or a neighbor could have done it for them.
For #6, I had a theory for that, and it's that real animals were slowly going extinct as we move on to the next generation and as more pokemon are discovered
Thunder Armor is weird, I think they were going for a play on Swellow's Guts ability and how it has always been able to tank Electric Attacks really well.
A little obscure one that may have gone under the radar; in one of the first few episodes to feature Tracy, Ash uses his Charizard for something and both Tracy and Misty utter something like "Oh no, not Charizard." Despite the fact that Tracy has not seen Ash's Charizard or is aware of it's poor behaviour at this point.
there are some bug pokemon that's also part water type. Such as surskit and the wimpod evolution line. Can misty really handle these pokemon despite being part water type?
First of all, if Swellow is using Guts, then it must've been paralyzed, but it shows no signs of that. Second, Swellow still should've taken a ton of damage from that attack and be on its last legs even if it avoided fainting. Third, that still doesn't explain why Pikachu also has the Thunder Armor.
Thunder armor kind of makes sense since the armor was supposed to show that swellow was paralyzed activating its guts ability which boosts its attack. The real bs in that ep was the fact that swellow wasn't one shotted after being hit by pikachu but I figure that was due to pikachu acting like an electric converter/battery.
They are still doing stuff like that, as Ash's Riolu evolves in the Night Time from max happiness during a fight against Chairman Rose. But Riolu only evolves during the Day. 🤦♀️
That moment when the trainer question about what Seviper evolves from threw me the first time I saw it. Really made me question the Ekans evolutionary line for a solid 2 days until my friends at school set me straight after a loooooong conversation about it haha!
I never noticed the mistakes in the Pokerap as a kid. On an unrelated note: After that aired, how many people playing the Pokemon game at the time tried to evolve their Arbok into a Serviper until they ended up breaking their consoles out of pure frustration or finding out they've been lied to?

Pokemon The Series: Crystal: Furret is a Normal-type Pokemon. Misty: I don't understand what's Pokemon type is it? Sunny: Furret is a Normal-type Pokemon. It's immune to Ghost-type Pokemon, and it's weak to Fighting-type Pokemon.
I don't think #2 should be included in the list since it's merely just about food than just Pokémon itself nor the story itself. The other parts in the lists are passable. I think the one Pokémon Moment that makes no sense should have been included in the list was "How is Ash Ketchum still 10 years old?" should have might deserve to replace #2 instead.
What always bugged me was that Sabrina the saffron gym leader and her colleagues actually have telekinesis powers, like how does that make any sense with the Pokémon world
You should wonder about that not just for them, but any Psychic trainer. It seems like all Psychic trainers across the series have had psychokinetic powers.

1. What's more, Gen 3 would actually include Lightning Rod as an ability and even if it had Lightning Rod as an ability, it still wouldn't knock him out since Lightning Rod not only draws in all electric attacks, it also gives the user immunity to electric attacks.
@@amandamakin1542: That rule only applies to double, triple or multi-battles, not single battles. So you can't thunderbolt foes with an ally pokemon with Lightning Rod because it'll hit your partner instead. But there IS a loophole, using discharge, which hits everyone.
Honorable mention: How Ash's Lucario is still able to battle after taking a Blocked High Jump Kick, a Sky Attack, 2 seperate Bullet Punch Barriage's, and a Cross Chop.

i know this because my Lucario in White 2 had it before i replaced it with Bone Rush.
Well....okay, in a real-world setting, I could see a strong enough attack puncturing Protect, especially a STAB-bonus Stone Edge from a Legendary against a second-stage Pokemon, and while I don't recall how the Ash/Anabel fight went, returning a Pokemon and then immediately sending them back out could maybe cure the Confusion status as it does in the games. Plus, its possible in the Pokemon universe to put an animal as large as a Wailord inside a ball no larger than an orange, so...maybe the backpacks also contain super-advanced tech (Silph or Devon?) that miniaturizes supplies..?

Late I know but Swellow being a badass is why I can buy the Thunder Armor. At face value it's silly and out of nowhere, except for one detail. Ash's Swellow always had a stubborn never back down attitude towards electric attacks. Remember Ash basically had to catch it to keep it from basically battling to the point of irreversible injury or death because it just refused to fall to Pikachu's electric attacks. Furthermore as a Tallow it was the leader of its flock so it wasn't exactly run of the mill.

How does Gary having a car make no sense? He's the grandson of one of the greatest researchers ever. It would make PERFECT sense that his parents spoiled the hell out of him! I've seen 12 year olds on MTV that had multiple cars that they owned and couldn't drive. Honestly though this list brings up good points I don't feel it was fully thought through.
I think another reason it makes no sense is that it is a two seater sports car and he somehow fits eight people in it.

Most of these are dub errors and/or changes, and it's been established, especially under 4Kids, that the dubbers had absolutely no idea what the show they were working on was about. Referring to those as anime errors is misleading, as they're dub errors. Most of those errors didn't exist in the original Japanese version. As for the real world animals, those haven't appeared since the first season, way back in 1997-1999. Obviously the show retconned their existence. Also, Miltank didn't exist in Gen 1 when Ash was in the cow costume, so he couldn't possibly have dressed as one.
Only #7, 4, 2, and maybe 5 could be considered dub errors, and even so, they indeed make no sense to dub viewers. (And even if the line about Venonat not being a Bug type wasn't in the original script, it still makes no sense that Misty isn't scared of it.) Also, retconned or not, #6 still technically counts as something that "makes no sense."
I'm surprised you didn't include Ash having no clue what love is when he and co meet a Cottonee in love with another Cottonee in the Black and White series, despite that, in the earlier episodes of SEASON ONE, he had to help his Butterfee with its love life, having a complete grasp on the concept.
Meaning he was very aware of the concept when he first started his journey, but somehow became completely dense to it later into his journey.

6 is simply a retcon. In gen 1 Pokemon were merely mutant animals like quirk humans in MHA. But by the time of Gen 3 Game Freak retconned the story to basically make Pokemon having been there all along.

8:03 Actually Misty wasn't a gym leader at this point in time of the anime version. Her 3 older sisters were the gym leaders of the Cerulean gym until they just kinda pawned it off on Misty after winning some vacation trip at the end of the Master Quest series. Why they didn't take back their gym leader positions after they finished their vacation I have no idea.
It had been shown that the sisters were inept at battling to the point of offering Ash a free Cascade Badge.
There's also in Battle for the Badge where Gary mentions that he has 10 gym badges, whereas in Kanto you can only get 8 badges

When Team Rocket is seen plotting against Rico, after they were blasted off, the sound of Wobbuffet coming out of his Poké Ball can be heard even though he is standing right next to Jessie.
After Meowth falls down the hill, the "R" on James's white uniform is missing.
The blurb for this episode spells Tyranitar as Tyrannitar. Along with this, the blurb also spells Weezing as Wheezing and Fearow as Fearrow.

Brock's Onix being defeated by Pikachu's thunderbolt despite being part ground-type and being immune to electric attacks, Scizor being defeated by Croagunk's poison jab despite being part steel-type and immune to poison attacks, Ash's Turtwig being affected by another Turtwig's leech seed despite being a grass type and immune to leech seed, James' Inkay being affected by an Espurr's Psychic despite being part dark-type and immune to psychic-type moves, the list goes on and on.
*Mold Breaker
-While battling Roark's Cranidos, it has an ability called "Mold Breaker," which negates enemy abilities. Such as stopping static in its place.
Or that's what the anime would have us believe. News Flash, Mold Breaker, doesn't, work, that, way! In the games, Mold Breaker ACTUALLY negates enemy abilities that grant immunities. Abilities like Levitate, Volt Absorb, Battle Armor, Flash Fire, Etc.
*Soaking Mudsdale
-This one... might be plausible? To gain an edge over Hapu's Ground-type Mudsdale, Ash gets the idea to trick Mudsdale into knocking over a pillar into the water at high tide. Mudsdale is splashed with water and soaked. The onlookers mention that this is similar to the move, soak, which turns the target into a pure water-type in the games. So by that logic, Pikachu is able to TKO Mudsdale with a powerful Z-Move it had just now become weak to, Gigavolt Havoc. Jury is still out out on this though. e_o
*Holding the pokeball Shut
-When catching a pokemon, why does LITERALLY NO ONE get the idea to just hold the pokeball shut so that the pokemon can't break out? And more importantly, why don't the games implement this feature?! It would be a godsend! Even Smosh did this in a sketch of theirs, holding the ball shut and sealing it by wrapping it in duct tape.
There's this type immunity error where the move Psychic got used on a Aqua/Magma Grunt's Poochyena & still affected it by slamming him into a tree, when the Dark type wolf cub should have not been affected by it.
At this point it makes you wonder if the writers ever played a single Pokemon game.
Actually, the anime uses a different logic than in the games. Game logic, being too simplified to account for physics, just says "all ground types are immune to electric, etc." Put anime logic into a real world setting. Take ground and flying, you can, theoretically, hit a bird by throwing a glob of mud like the moves mud bomb, mud slap, and mud shot, very similar to the move rock throw. Pikachu hitting Onix after it got drenched by the fire sprinklers could have worked the same as Mudsdale. Soaked earth IRL does act as a conductor for lightning and may be what allowed electric attacks to bypass the type immunity. As for Scizor, the poison may not have bothered it, but the physical hit might have. Just like Palpitoad not being bothered by the electricity of thunder fang, but Stoutland's teeth were painfully keeping it trapped, then it used ice fang to hurt really it.
Yeah, I really don’t like it when the anime seems to forget type immunities in certain instances.
10. Obviously, Grace set up the laptop before she left. The bigger issue is that she left an expensive computer out on the front lawn that Rhydon could accidentally step on, or someone with a Pokémon strong enough to beat Rhyhorn and Fletchling could potentially steal it.
9. Did Ash say he didn't recognize it? You do know that Ash will use his Pokédex to remind himself about previously encountered Pokémon in addition to newly encountered ones, don't you?
8. Who says Gary can't ride in someone's car for traveling on his journey? He's not driving it himself, and nothing says he has to own the car. Maybe his parents lent him and his friends one of their cars for all we know. His grandfather is a world famous scientist with a huge ranch, after all, so I'm sure his family is loaded.
7. Yes, that was a ridiculously stupid error. It was also far from the only time that the Trainer's Choice segment screwed up, just the biggest error they made. Thank goodness they dropped it and went back to Who's That Pokémon after the R/S part of the series.
6. Yeah, that was an outdated concept back at the beginning of the anime when they never could've expected that the franchise would eventually expand so much to make Pokémon analogs of almost all major animal species, nor that the anime itself would last so long as to include all of them.
5. Yeah, that was weird, especially since Venonat is one of the creepier looking Bug types.

First episode makes no sense at all cus apparently four kids turned 10 at the same time in such a tiny town. Plus they could only pick from 3 Pokémon which left one out and yet Oak was not prepared for that. And he didnt even consider telling Ash when he arrived. How could he only have ONE of each starter? He is the official professor in that region.
And how the hell do organic creatures turn into light that can be stored in a ball upon touching it? And how do you even controle that ball? People just say "return" and a light pops out.
The Seviper segment and Pokérap is just a bad error - not really lack of logic. In general you missed a huge opportunity to point out a lot of things that actually dont make sense.
Okay so, there is an actual explenation for that but comes in WAAAAAAY later, Celebi's movie at that, in which young Sam Oak meets Ash with Pikachu. At the end of the movie, it's shown that modern day Professor Oak keeps a drawing he made of Pikachu and Celebi, so he remembers meeting Ash and that he had a Pikachu with him. So, he purposely went and gave Pikachu to Ash, knowing that they would become friends eventually (there are theories that he even could have hidden all other starters so Ash would end with Pikachu no matter what). Of course this creates a time paradox about how Ash even gets Pikachu before time travel, but whatever...
Plus how Ash caught all starters in the wild while we couldn't do that in the game and only Charmender evolved for some reason while Bulbasaur and Squirtle never did, like wtf? Did they ever evolve? I haven't watched the show past orange islands
I remember a Pokémon episode (which I can't remember its title of) where ghost Pokémon are weak against psychic Pokémon, even though it is the other way around.
It really confused me as a kid.
Ash dexing Koffing doesn't mean he forgot it, he has always used his Pokedex on Pokémon he has seen before, but unless he says "Who's that Pokémon?" he knows what it is. And not only that, this was in fact the FIRST TIME Ash has looked up Koffing on his Pokedex.

How Gary managed to catch any Pokemon is beyond me. Grace could have given the laptop to her Pokemon and showed Fletchling how to use it, or a neighbor could have done it for them.
For #6, I had a theory for that, and it's that real animals were slowly going extinct as we move on to the next generation and as more pokemon are discovered

Thunder Armor is weird, I think they were going for a play on Swellow's Guts ability and how it has always been able to tank Electric Attacks really well.

That theory seems logical, but Guts shouldn’t have that affect and doesn’t explain why Pikachu is affected as well.
A little obscure one that may have gone under the radar; in one of the first few episodes to feature Tracy, Ash uses his Charizard for something and both Tracy and Misty utter something like "Oh no, not Charizard." Despite the fact that Tracy has not seen Ash's Charizard or is aware of it's poor behaviour at this point.
there are some bug pokemon that's also part water type. Such as surskit and the wimpod evolution line. Can misty really handle these pokemon despite being part water type?
Surskit, maybe. The Wimpod and Dewpider lines, no. Gardenia would have the same issues with the Grass/Ghost sets.

The "Swellow armor" is supposed to represent his "Guts" ability where he gets a boost in attack when statused
First of all, if Swellow is using Guts, then it must've been paralyzed, but it shows no signs of that. Second, Swellow still should've taken a ton of damage from that attack and be on its last legs even if it avoided fainting. Third, that still doesn't explain why Pikachu also has the Thunder Armor.
Guts only raises the users attack when burned, poisoned or paralyzed. Not their defense.

Thunder armor kind of makes sense since the armor was supposed to show that swellow was paralyzed activating its guts ability which boosts its attack. The real bs in that ep was the fact that swellow wasn't one shotted after being hit by pikachu but I figure that was due to pikachu acting like an electric converter/battery.

They are still doing stuff like that, as Ash's Riolu evolves in the Night Time from max happiness during a fight against Chairman Rose. But Riolu only evolves during the Day. 🤦♀️

That moment when the trainer question about what Seviper evolves from threw me the first time I saw it. Really made me question the Ekans evolutionary line for a solid 2 days until my friends at school set me straight after a loooooong conversation about it haha!
My favorite thing that makes no sense in the anime is when ash’s snorlax used six moves sad it could not make the list.
There have been a lot of instances in the anime where the four move limit had been broken.

1. What's more, Gen 3 would actually include Lightning Rod as an ability and even if it had Lightning Rod as an ability, it still wouldn't knock him out since Lightning Rod not only draws in all electric attacks, it also gives the user immunity to electric attacks.
It also even renders the user's OWN Electric Type attacks useless, too, as long as the Lightning Rod Pokémon is on the field.
@@amandamakin1542: That rule only applies to double, triple or multi-battles, not single battles. So you can't thunderbolt foes with an ally pokemon with Lightning Rod because it'll hit your partner instead. But there IS a loophole, using discharge, which hits everyone.
As for the Koffin, because Ash hadn’t battled or came across one for a while, I assumed that he wanted to refresh with his PokeDex
