I just got my WB Scat about a month ago. I got it in Indigo Blue and added dual black matte stripes. It looks soooooooo damn good. I love it. Drives great, sounds awesome, really fast, handles incredibly well for such a big car, and it's just so bad ass looking. It puts a smile on my face everytime I look at it, and another everytime I start it up, and an even bigger one when I hit the gas on a straight, and one more when I get out and look at what I just drove. Exactly. Zl1 1le owner telling me "yeah but can your charger handle on a track" - oh you mean how your 1LE goes to car shows and sits in the garage? Lol
Yep. And the few times I’ve had mine at the track, most of the Camaro, Mustang and M3/4s we’re behind me. Most of their owners can’t drive their cars to even 75% of its ability.

My wife is a few years my junior, but when she retires, we'd like to spend a good deal of our time roaming the U.S. by car, and I've thought a Hellcat or perhaps the Scat Pack would make a comfortable yet powerful and fun car for that. Thanks for the comprehensive review, it was helpful.
Your criticism of the "aging" is a bit weak. I've gone from a 2010 to a 2016, and found it to be a huge upgrade, very different vehicles. The sheet metal is very much the same, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the Challenger design is classic.

I plan on running down to my Dodge dealer and putting down money on an order for 2022 RT challenger widebody. Back in the 1970s had a poster this car on my bedroom wall, it’s been a dream car for me. My only complaint is that it doesn’t offer all leather seats, it’s Alcântara and Leather. I’ve driven all the challenges and I think this is the best balance and the biggest bang for the buck. 65,000 fully loaded is a very good price for that performance and handling. Compared to a Corvette which I have specked out but $90,000. The challenger is a no brained. I ordered my car and I got it April 15, 2022. I love it does everything well have a glorious sound from the exhaust. I decided to upgrade my stereo system to the Harmon Cardin 18 speaker system with a subwoofer and has a great sound I’m very happy with my purchase.
This car will never be out of style. Love the interior lot's of room. I test drove the new camaro's and mustangs way to small for me. If I wanted that I would buy a corvette again.
Nice “R/T scatpack wide body” review. I appreciate the review of the model that I and probably most others would consider purchasing due to costs and practicality. I have the urge to drive my 944 and Corvette out to my Dodge dealer as a down payment for this exact test car.
When you sit the new Challenger next to an old one. It seems stretched. As in the new car has a lot of side height and it looks taller. In my opinion, the wide body breaks up the side lines really nicely. It looks more proportional. I wouldn't get a Challenger without the wide fender configuration. The Hellcat and Redeye get a lot of attention, but I think this configuration in the video is probably the sweet spot in performance and looks. I would only buy the 6 speed myself. Because I feel the 6 speed with the pistol grip shifter is an iconic thing for the Challenger.
Bought the F8 Green Wide Body Special Edition, Shaker, Challenger & having owned Pontiac T/A’s Formula 350, Nissan Z, BMW M6 & M8 competition, this Challenger is hands down my favorite, I’m not into racing, I just like the package @ the relic age of 65, with the car being so called overweight, the ride is second to none! My only drawback is knowing where the cheapest gas stations are located, it like gas.
True it 10yrs plus but the classic look is not a ugly because no matter what that muscle classic look will never go out of style. So that to me is a good thing not ugly.
I was surprised when you listed the Uconnect as a "bad". Most auto journalists like that system when compared to all the others. Oh well, to each his own. Nice job on the review and I love the drone shots of the car. Keep up the good work!
I still like Uconnect. The 8.4” display is NICE. But from a user interface perspective it’s sort of all over the place. Thanks for the compliments! Really means a lot! -Hansen
Agreed. Would love to know what SL thinks is a good infotainment. I have lived with, not test driven, a Chevy, Ford, VW, infinity, and this is best system in my opinion.
@@ShiftingLanes I have 2 Ford F150s, a Toyota 4Runner and a Jeep SRT. the Uconnect is miles better than Fords or Toyota. so unless you're comparing it to a Euro spec'd car it's the best of the big 3 and Toyota.
Dude the TREMEC Manual transmission is simply the BEST money can buy dude, It's what's also on the GT350's and every review on Earth praises them man, wtf ???
Is this a typo on the year? You mention the extra money for the widebody and I’ve seen more than one video that Dodge decided to make it standard. Correct me if I’m wrong but most people are very happy about this. Great video! Such a beauty!
I really enjoyed this review. Like myself, you don't have any hang ups about getting the biggest and badest version to drive around town, and, like me, feel the best way to enjoy these cars is to get to as you put it, roll your own gears. I recently leased the 2018 R/T Shaker Plus for 3 years and now I am looking forward to upgrading to the wide body version next time around. What I don't agree with is buying a car like this, You lock up too much of your money for too long, they can be expensive to fix, and as you said can look outdated in just one year. Leasing a car means just changinbg the oil every 5k and that's it. A lot less money down and still, hands down, one of the best scents in the world: the smell of a new car every 2 or 3 years!
nice review, but you do realize that this ten year old car is made to look retro like the ones from the 70s. so it is suppose to look outdated..in a sense. If you want modern looks, there is every other brand to choose from. Still nice review though.
Yup! Just stating that the others (GM and Ford) have been making big revisions, while this one has been more or less the same. Nothing wrong with “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”. Thanks for watching! We did a first drive impression of the Redeye as well, make sure you check that out as well! -Hansen
Well for the infotainment I’d rather too much info than not enough...because when you need the extra info it’s there rather than needing it and be missing *FOREVER*
If the only “ugly”, is that the Challenger may look outdated in a couple of years, then that’s totally ok with me! I’ll take a retro-looking 10.9 second 1/4 mile Hellcat any day! Thanks for posting the vid on this R/T SP Widebody! Cheers!!
Some folks talk ish about the scat pack new but old features...but i think they built the car for the ones who want the look of the hellcat but not the HP or the low gas mileage
It's a great package on a car that really doesn't have any lines to speak of. Challenger got a bit dated too quickly but a V8 compensates for everything else :D
Excellent review and you hit the main points. You a preaching to the choir when taking about the platform. It applies to both the Challenger and Charger. Both are aging well but after 11 plus years of the same thing it's getting old. Im on my second Charger in that time. Currently driving a 2015 Loaded Scat Pack 392. I bought it because I liked the facelift it got. However, Im so ready for a new design inside and out it's killing me. The widebody's are very cool but other then that it's the same old same old especial inside the cabin. I get it. It works for Dodge but come on it's been over a decade man.
I totally agree with too much info on the Uconnect for the driver while driving. I don't mess with it while I am driving my wife's Cherokee. I get her to navigate it or I wait until I am stopped at a light. I own a 2018 Camaro SS and I had a F150 before that and I think the Uconnect is the best system out of the big three. The back up camera is not as crisp as Ford though.
Got a 21 wide body scat chally blacked out red interior… I know they say muscle cars only attract dudes…. But LET ME TELL YOU, this car is the best wing man you’ll ever have 🤣🤫
I like they've kept it virtually unchanged. I liked the mustang when it was "taller" and the camaro I liked better when the lights were "round". But just my opinion
You are wrong about the ZF transmission. The Hellcat uses a beefed up unit. Hellcat is a 8HP90 and rated to 900 FT/TQ. The SCAT and RT are 8H70 700FT/TQ and the V6 is a 8HP45 with.... shock, 450 FT/TQ
the only thing that sucks is that in the auto scat pack they have the cylinder deactivation.. my guess is that the engine of the manual scat pack should last twice or three times as long as they dont have the deactivation paired with them.
Good review, thanks. I've got mine on order in F8 green that might be here in a month or so. The 19 SP and the SP WB have numerous differences such as different sway bars, springs, shock tuning, front brakes, the hood is different (WB has the extractors) and even the grille is different. Not sure why Dodge didn't just keep the SRT 392 name to be honest. I had a 2012 Challenger Classic but sold it years ago but have always loved the looks of these. I figure sooner or later FCA will quit making these and decided now was the time.
I'd love to buy myself one of these cars.....same Octane Red color. I'd get the SXT with a 3.6L V6 engine. It would be a nice addition to my 2019 Chevy Camaro SS.
The Challenger is the most classic of all current muscle cars, it has a similar look to a 70's Cuda and that's precisely the reason why many people are buying it; they are buying it for how it looks, and the argument of a 10-year-old outdated platform as an "ugly" feature is not valid because people owning this car couldn't care less about that. The outdated platform may be a concern for Camaro's and Mustang's enthusiasts because they are constantly updating it and how those cars look, that's not the case for the Challenger who looks just like a classic american muscle car, and as far as I concerned, it better stay that way.
So buy this challenger for $45K then for $12k you can have twin turbos installed and your still under $60k. But you will have 785HP. With headers and aftermarket exhaust you will surpass 800HP. This is a pretty good deal.
I almost bought a 2018 TA 392 and went with, believe it or not, a slightly less powerful (6.2) Chevy SS ...in Slipstream Blue. I loved the Mag Ride Control feature. LS3...what a sweet engine. Sleeper looks, yes, but looks a lot better up close over time. HUD and all the gadgets, though I left off sun roof. LOVE the above car though and thinking about owning it AND SS! I hadn't bought a new car in 24 yrs when I bought SS, so...(and not being married or with kids) maybe I'm getting ready to live L-A-R-G-E?!! The purple seems to be the way to go with this WB.
Maybe they're thinking "if it's not broke, don't fix it" or maybe they don't have anything new on the drawing board so they're sticking with the Challenger platform. In either case, I still like Challenger in all of it's variants.
Great video!... But as far as price wise the GT and the SS are not even almost comparable to a scat pack. Those are base model v8s. The scat pack is absolutely not at the base model V8.
Love this car ! Great colour too. It's a fun-bus. So, second-hand 'standard' SRT Hellcat wide-body OR one of these Scat Pack wide-bodies? As a daily driver the whine of the supercharger could get irritating and all that HP could get scary...I'm thinking.
You have to be a Mopar Diehard to truly appreciate the appearance of the car. It's a "Dodge Challenger" & you don't want to mess with the appearance to much. As they say. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Who cares Dodge did not design that car to be a BMW it is a muscle car and that's what it is and that's what the Challenger will always be is a muscle car. So I guess the SRT 392 is dead and the Scat Pack took its place. Would have been nice to see them bring a 426 for the SRT model but I think that might step on the heels of Hellcat owners. Dodge needs to stop making Demon and Hellcat equipment available for V6 Challengers. The 5.7 needs Brembo brakes.
Unless you’re a die hard challenger fan I’d just get a Charger. It’s more practical pretty much identical performance and there’s no insecurity if you don’t feel like dropping an extra 6 or 7k for the wide body package.
That would actually be a false positive but your face told the story Lol my 2019 Ram done the same thing to me scared the crap out of me Good vid I’ve watched it numerous times.
Dodge challenger is perfect the way it is.. I don't care if they keep the same design for the next 20yrs.. Camaro and mustang turned into sports cars and that's why they keep redesigning coz they are still looking for the perfect design..
the wide body is the visual upgrade that the car needed

The Hellcat and Redeye get a lot of attention, but I think this configuration in the video is probably the sweet spot in performance and looks.
I would only buy the 6 speed myself. Because I feel the 6 speed with the pistol grip shifter is an iconic thing for the Challenger.
So thick!
I thought my 2016 scatpack was thick. 305s stock? Yes plz. I hope they do the same thing to the Charger.
Rear seat delete and a supercharger. Best car
I wannA see the 1320 reviewed, please, when available.

Nothing ugly about this beauty!
This thing sounds legit. A real tuners car it would kill a hellcat dollar for dollar with mods.
Is this a typo on the year? You mention the extra money for the widebody and I’ve seen more than one video that Dodge decided to make it standard. Correct me if I’m wrong but most people are very happy about this. Great video! Such a beauty!
Benny Bodash its a $6k option
Benny Bodash it’s NOT standard. You will be charged for the WB option

@@ShiftingLanes will do
Well for the infotainment I’d rather too much info than not enough...because when you need the extra info it’s there rather than needing it and be missing *FOREVER*
I'm Impressed, keep it going Dodge "FCA"
But LET ME TELL YOU, this car is the best wing man you’ll ever have 🤣🤫
This is a good review on the R/T Scat pack, especially for someone that is considering it as their next car. Thank you I enjoyed it a lot
Offset the wheels, drop the suspension SLIGHTLY, and custom exhaust, cold air intake. That’s all the car needs.
What you say it's ugly I think it's the best thing ever if dodge moves forward with a new platform it will always be cool having the last retro design
the only thing that sucks is that in the auto scat pack they have the cylinder deactivation.. my guess is that the engine of the manual scat pack should last twice or three times as long as they dont have the deactivation paired with them.
I wish they had a Laguna Leather option....oh well..need to find a 2015-2018 SRT 392 now....
Thanks for watching! F8 green is a sick color!
-Hansen
I'd love to buy myself one of these cars.....same Octane Red color. I'd get the SXT with a 3.6L V6 engine. It would be a nice addition to my 2019 Chevy Camaro SS.
Remember to ring that bell! *Cue outro.
My 2018 RT 6 speed manual is a beast..Terrible in wet weather..can't wait to get rid of it..
I’m looking to get one, let me know of your discount
It's not terrible in the rain. Stop driving like a dumbass and acknowledge that you need to be light on the throttle when there's rain on the road.
Actually my last comment was a bit harsh. I hope you're successful and happy in life.
Sounds LIKE THAT "False / Negative", was her getting mad that you said the 6spd was better than her! lol Good video Sir!
The good: it exists. The bad: it’s not in my garage......(yet)
“Love The Channel Bro!!!!#MOPAR💪🏿😤”
Awesome review video! This is exactly how I want my Challenger to be. The color is priceless!!! Thumbs-up 👍
So buy this challenger for $45K then for $12k you can have twin turbos installed and your still under $60k.
I see a Mavic!
It wuld be nice if they put a Granny shift mode in set the gears to change slow or to were you culd customize settings
That’s the perfect car to put the hellephant into
Very informative thank you
it will be mine in the next few years but for now i can only dream....
Great video!... But as far as price wise the GT and the SS are not even almost comparable to a scat pack. Those are base model v8s. The scat pack is absolutely not at the base model V8.
Great review but Connect is 10x better than anything else out there. I love it.
F8 green only way to go...
Can't beat a Challenger Scat WB esthetics. 2021 Triple Nickle 21mpg. 6 speed.
You have to be a Mopar Diehard to truly appreciate the appearance of the car. It's a "Dodge Challenger" & you don't want to mess with the appearance to much. As they say. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Fun review, well done!
Everyone agrees UConnect is one of the easiest to use around. Information overload is like ... welcome to Audi/BMW/MB world :) Cool video thou!
At 7:10 the element of surprise! this is what happen when you get too comfortable 😄
2015 SRT 392. Love it.
2018 SRT 392. Love it!
2015 Scatpack 😎 looooove it. Hurting feelings at the track.
I traded my 2010 Corvette Grand Sport for a 2016 Srt 392 Charger. To be honest I love the Charger more.
2016 srt392 redline red m6 with black stripes love it
And, I DO go to Home Depot with my Challenger!
I need that in my life
That SRT logo on uconnect scares me a bit
How is there a bad and ugly with this muscle car? The longer I take to get this car the better it keeps getting my goodness!
Question, can you supercharge a 2018 Scat Pack Shaker? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Great video, thanks...
No but can do boost but don’t know how that would effect the car in the long run….still might have to upgrade internal
Unless you’re a die hard challenger fan I’d just get a Charger. It’s more practical pretty much identical performance and there’s no insecurity if you don’t feel like dropping an extra 6 or 7k for the wide body package.
New Chally scat with the wide body kit beat out the Mustang GT pp2 numbers.
Plus the charger looks like a lifesize hot wheels.
That would actually be a false positive but your face told the story Lol my 2019 Ram done the same thing to me scared the crap out of me Good vid I’ve watched it numerous times.
you complained about the stick, same stick in the gt350, that gets nothing but kudos dude !!
Dodge challenger is perfect the way it is.. I don't care if they keep the same design for the next 20yrs.. Camaro and mustang turned into sports cars and that's why they keep redesigning coz they are still looking for the perfect design..
