Have you ever dealt with a nightmare client? Did you find any methods that helped you keep the project moving?
    Let's hear those stories!

I think my most nightmare clients are Graphic Designers themselves. Having to work with managers that "were" Graphic Designers and want their input to be the final say. I start to feel like a robot just copy pasting what they want by taking myself out of the equation creatively.

That’s a great call out. I find that happens a lot with new senior designers or art directors - they have a hard time letting go of the work since they’re so used to being ‘in it’.
With time, they usually start to realize that designers need autonomy and can figure out the ‘how’ on their own if you tell them the ‘why’.

Nah, jack up your fees either they make it worthwhile or they leave. Win win.

I think it was Chris Do that said you should charge clients an amount where you’re happy every time they call. If you get mad and roll your eyes when you see a client calling, you’re charging too little.

Not taking the time to bring them in and help them understand our creative process is 100% where most of my frustration stems from, great point!

It’s definitely challenging to set aside the time when a project is about to get underway. I probably should have touched on being a champion for realistic timelines as that’s a challenge in of itself!

I did a pro bono book cover and she hated it! Why do amateur book writers think they can design their own book cover! I’m a graphic designer and will most likely outsource my own book cover.

Sorry to hear that! Dealing with rejection of a concept is always challenging.
Did you put together a few moodboards with potential design directions and pitch them to the client before designing? I find that’s a quick and easy way to make sure you’re on the same page before spending time doing the work.
