My thoughts on Apple's just released MagSafe Battery Pack that retails for $99. I like it, but you've got to love the system integration, reverse wireless charging functionality and form factor for it to be a hit. 7/10

If you plug in your iPhone with the MagSafe battery attached, the iPhone will reverse wireless charge the MagSafe battery pack as well.

@@dxdanny82 That would be cool! We would have to tear the phones down then to find out what they are hiding. It could kinda be like a Tesla or something, you think your car is gonna stay the same and this is all there is and then one day you turn on your car and get inside to see you got an update that increases range. Or a whole new feature was added.

Hey dude, it’s officially reverse charging that you can charge your battery by plugging your iPhone while it’s attached to it. I meant the battery could reverse charge from your iPhone. And if your iPhone have 14.7 it could have the MagSafe charging up to 15W. it’s all about compatibility. Try it with 14.7

Great video! Found your channel via THE Genius Bar. Want to drop a comment here to potentially clear up some confusion about “reverse wireless charging.” There’s a distinction between powering the external battery which in turn wirelessly charges the iPhone as something of a pass through (in a sense, the MagSafe battery is really acting as a typical wireless charging pad in this scheme) and plugging a lightning cable into the iPhone and having its inductive coils wireless charge an external accessory like the MagSafe battery - which would suggest that the iPhone is capable of wirelessly charging any Qi compatible device, AirPods included. Love the content. Keep it up :)

I’m glad they finally released a battery pack- I’m disappointed that it isn’t a case. I always picked up a case and I liked that versatility.
You can repurpose it as makeshift "charging mat" by placing it flat facing down on the table and have it hooked to cable-and-charger. Place your iPhone on top.
Novelty of the product is still there.
It still has the wow factor.
It stands out from the rest.

Maybe it’s just me but my AirPods are never dead. Generally when I get home I set them on a wireless charger but I can see the appeal if you’re someone who’s out and about all day

Hey Sam, does the MagSafe Battery stick stronger magnetically when attached to an official Apple Leather 12 Pro Max case? The MagSafe Wallet is really stuck on there in this combination!
If it was slipping & sliding like that on the clear one the leather case won’t be any better.
It holds on a lot better with the official leather case.
Comparative to the Smart Battery Case it’s thinner, lighter, costs less, more convenient and I love the Smart Battery Case and have been using it since it was released on my iPhone XS Max.
I bought the Mophie one and it has 5000mAh, it’s black, and is half the price

The battery pack has some features that helps taking care of your battery so it it doesn’t deteriorate too much. I’d rather take that than messing up my phones battery

Anker made a better version months ago. I don’t see how that’s reverse charging. It’s just a cordless wireless charger.
This is better optimized and will result in long term battery life
He also didn’t really mention the real reverse wireless charging. If you have the battery pack on, and you plug in your iPhone, your iPhone will reverse wireless charge the battery pack

Hey Sam, you messed up the reverse wireless charging description. Its only to charge the battery pack when the iphone is plugged in instead of the battery pack. Any magsafe power banks will charge your airpods.

not really a pro tip but buy this instead of a magsafe charger and use it as a one and when you need a battery pack you're good to go
How is charging Airpod Pros with the battery pack reverse charging?
Reverse wireless charging is not exactly what you think it is. If you put Airpods on the battery pack and they charge, that's just wireless charging. Reverse wireless charging is when you charge other devices with your iPhone. For instance in this scenario, when you charge your iPhone via the lightning cable with the magsafe battery attached and the iPhone gets fully charged, the lightning cable connected to the iPhone won't charge the iPhone anymore, but the iPhone will send that power to the battery pack, charging the battery pack instead.
Yes I will get the charger plus a few other tidbits.

I don't think you understood that the reverse wireless charging is. The wireless charger charging both the iPhone and airpods is just normal as its a wireless charger. Thats not reverse wireless charging. The iphone charging the battery bank is reverse. I think you got a lot mixed up there.

I think it is pretty neat. I'm sure they will release another version 2 if it that has like a faster more miliamp fast charge. Which would be cool. And maybe it all be a bit slimmer but all in all, I agree. 7/10

Maybe youll have to stick two little thin strips of double sided tape on your magsafe case on either side of the battery pack to keep it from sliding side ways
But thats just me because these kind of things give me ocd lol. Maybe eventually some light weight attachments with with little brackets to prevent the side to side thing will release

There is reverse wireless charging in the iPhone when you talk about how plugging the iPhone in will also charge the battery pack, but talking about the battery pack using wireless charging for more than just the iPhone isn't the same thing :P

My official opinion on m gsafe us of apple was going to do this instead of AirPower they should have started years ago ,,, because in the years since Magsafe was canceled there was maybe one or two accessory manufacturers already using magnetic accessories and with MagSafe not being open like mfi even more are creating random magnetic accessories even dji has a magnetic non MagSafe accessory system im not disappointed I just expect something more substantial

Bro it’s not reverse wireless charging just regular wireless charging. The battery pack can wirelessly charge the iPhone and the AirPods not the other way around.
You can charge the battery pack while connecting to your iphone and plugging in your iphone. Is it possible to get a charge to airpods if you quickly replace the battery pack with airpods?
I wonder if you can charge the airpods and iphone if you put the batterypack half on your iphone so your aipods would fit as well?

Honestly its nice but the MagEZ juice 2 by Pitaka i blows this away and its 10 dollars cheaper and it comes with a charger stand to put the battery pack in, also the pitaka also comes in blue and black carbon fiber to match the cases Pitaka has.
P.S. The one from Pitaka has a very strong magnet and won’t budge at all.
