You are such a gentleman. Thanks for this. Brian may wrote this song for Freddie. What a courageous man. He knew he was dying but still pushed on. Rip love you freddie
Yes, we all miss him. My mother was 85, she just passed away. She LOVED Freddie Mercury. We made a slide show for her funeral, we used one of his last songs. Freddie was her guilty pleasure haha. It is so good to hear all these different generations appreciating Freddie Mercury and let's not forget the other very talented members of Queen.
Freddie had so much talent and music inside him. His death has deprived so many of what he could have shared. It's very sad. I'm glad you recognize the passion. Well done, you.
You're one of the many, across the globe, that couldn't care less about Freddie's sexual orientation, and the bigots who feel the need to hate on him, they're the few. You'll move forward and they'll fall behind.

Hi JB I'll date myself here. I seen Queen in 1977. It was my first concert. I was 15. It was in Jan. and snowing real bad. We drove To Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland, Ohio. It was a hour drive. We loved them back then. When the lights went out just before they would start every person in the place held up a lighter. So cool. When the lights came back on you would smell and see all the pot smoke. That is just how it was. I was one of the lucky ones to have seen him twice. Take care.
I'll date myself even more. I saw them in 74 before they got sent home because of Brian's hepatitis. Best concert of my life not even knowing who they were then. Most people had no idea who they were then but I knew about the middle of that concert that they were going to be something great and they were.
The vocal range Freddy had was amazing I have been fascinated by him since I was a kid...Since the movie has come out I am obsessed all over again and just love Freddy Mercury and Queen and I will till my dying day!!! The haters can hate all they want but you, me, and all the rest of the Queen fans know who true talent is I say no one and I mean no one will ever be like him or can rise to his pedestal!! Freddy forever!! We will always love you!!! Never forget!!!
Thank you so much for your honest feelings. Written by Brian May about watching Freddie perform& compose as much as possible knowing he was dying. Gets me Everytime.
I think he would get such a kick out of how famous and well-loved he still is. I remember watching an interview in which he was asked how he wanted to be thought of after he passed, and Freddie answers, "I don't know, dead and gone. It's up to them... after I'm gone, who cares? I don't." Oh, a LOT of people still care, darling...
I can't enough of Freddie... if you look up "awesome" in the dictionary, there's his picture, and the definition would simply read, "Freddie Mercury." Not only extremely talented, but also kind and actually very humble. When a mother who had brought her daughter to a concert met him, and she told him how much her daughter loved him, he just said, "Really?" like it was hard for him to believe. He later gave that woman a small toy he had won from one of those vending machines, and told her to give it to her daughter. Just a sweetheart.
This song is both one of my favorite Queen songs, yet also so hard to listen to. Knowing how sick Freddie was when he recorded it, still managing all that passion and power in his voice while his body was failing him. It's one of the greatest gifts he left us. Freddie was always so much more than his sexual orientation, and anyone who judges him for it, all I can say is...their loss. They are missing out on something really great that we will never have again. There will never be anyone like Freddie Mercury again
So good to see you back James 😘💚 I was thinking about you earlier and hoped you were doing ok? Thanks for reacting to this. So powerful and emotional. If you didn't know, Brian wrote it for/about Freddie and how he carried on so passionately and so bravely despite him being so ill. And his voice was STILL incredible. Such an amazing man, it's no wonder he's an inspiration to so many people across so many generations, countries, races etc. You're so right, the greatest showman ever. As well as having a stunning voice and being a great songwriter, pianist and music producer. And a personality and sense of humour that just draws you right to him. He really did have it all. There'll never be anybody like him ever again. So glad you hear you say you'll not stop reacting to Queen 👑💜 ugh the people who make horrible comments about him really need to get a life. I'd feel sorry for them for the greatness they're missing out on but I just CAN'T because they're such arseholes (sorry lol) but it's true. There's a beautiful tribute to Freddie that the remaining members did after Freddie passed, called No One But You (Only The Good Die Young). I would love for you to check it out sometime. Keep the Queen coming, don't listen to the haters!
ferretmom66 haters are gonna hate because they are miserable people and they cannot ever be as good as other people and they definitely cannot be the vocalist or performer that Freddie Mercury was. It’s just simple.
This was a beautiful video, I had never seen it! The official video is even better, I hope you check it out! Thank you, James!! :D This song was written by Brian, inspired by Freddie's power of will even when he couldn't stand up anymore. He's such an example of living life to the fullest for all of us! We all feel connected to him, like a straight connection between his soul and our souls, don't you think? By the way, some people keep saying Fred recorded this song in 1 take. It's not true, why do they keep saying that? He did in 1 take the higher notes after Brian showed him his concerns about it, thinking it would be too much for him. Freddie drank a glass of vodka and told him "I'll f*cking do it, darling". And he f*cking did it!!
Listen to "Mother Love"... it's from the posthumous 1995 Made in Heaven album. It was the very last song Freddie recorded, about a month before his death. After two verses he was feeling so unwell that he had to stop. He planned to record the last verse later, but never made it back into the studio... Brian finished the last verse instead. I can't even imagine how many takes he had to do before he could get through it without crying. You can hear the heartbreak in his voice.
According to an interview I heard with Brian May, Freddie did three takes of each line / verse. He wanted to just get the vocals done so the rest of the band could "finish it when I'm gone".
Greatest showman, greatest singer, played piano, guitar, wrote his own incredible music and lyrics. There will never be another Freddie Mercury. You are right. Greatest talent. Don’t ever let anyone ever make you hesitant to say so because there are millions upon millions who agree.
It's amazing that he recorded this very sick, getting worse and less than a year to live. That is mind-blowing. This song and "Who want to live forever" choke me up each and every time I hear them.
You are so right about the passion. No one can bring so much emotion to a song as Freddie. He can make you laugh, make you cry, make you happy. I am usually emotionally exhausted after listening to Queen.
If you haven't reacted to I Want it All by Queen, you should!!!! They rocked their asses off with this song. The growl in Freddie's voice and Brian's guitar solo is mind blowing.
A few days ago at work, a young guy in his 20's asked me who my favourite group of all time is, I replied it's close between Queen and Dire Straits, and his reply was "I've never heard of either of them" Such a shame that these great artists will be forgotten because the young people of today have no idea of what they've missed out on.
awesome reaction. Freddie Mercury's aids was full blown at this point and with the title, he was telling everyone and the universe "screw it" he was going to literally make the most of what time he had left and keep singing and making music till he dropped. This looks like a fan made video, though its still great! I suggest you watch the original music video which is a compilation of other music videos and concert clips. Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor tour with Adam Lambert who joined on in 2012/2013, keeping the memory/legacy of Freddie and Queen alive. while it may not be the same without Freddie, Adam is a surprisingly great singer/showman and Brian and Roger consider him a true member of the Queen family now and a "gift from god". Adam even makes a regular speech during his concerts to make it clear that he's not anything, but just singing, keeping the legacy of Queen alive, and that there is only one god of rock that our love goes to: thats Freddie and profusely thanks Brian and Roger for choosing him. therefore, (though I haven't yet,)still you should take the opportunity to see Brian and Roger live while you have the chance. this year they are going on a new "rhapsody tour".
I always took this song to be a sort of anthem of Freddie's, of what he was going through: "Inside my heart is breaking, my makeup may be flaking, but my smile stays on." At this point he was getting sicker, but only the band and his family and closest friends knew of his HIV/AIDS status. It must have been very isolating.
Hey you ok?????? . No live recording of this Freddie was so sick at the time. Written about Freddies need to carry on with his music right til he passed. Think you should check the lyrics of this song fot yourself💖. Can you react to Who wants to live forever...LIVE at Wembly when you get a chance please.x
My suggestions are the whole Wimberley concert, Someone to Love from Montreal, Live Aid, Barcelona, I'm Going Slightly Mad and to finish: Only the Good Die Young. Love everything from Queen.
Thank you for your kind comments about Freddie; he always wanted to entertain, not just sing to the crowd; he WANTED THE CROWD to participate. My favourite group from high school until 1991.
I look forward to your reactions to Queen and Freddie, can’t wait to see some more 😊 love for you to check out the song it’s late 1977 another great song 😊
And you should know this: Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song in 1990 that May (who largely wrote the song) had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal."
You're right. Even Freddie said they didn't make much money from their tours. The money they made was reinvested back to the tour expenses. But for the most part, it was the love for music.
Queen wrote songs that are still relevant today.. And they were all song writers. Brian and Freddie wrote the most, but they were all good. Brian didn’t think Freddie could sing this . He was quite ill and weak by this time. But he drank a glass of vodka and sang the heck out of it. Freddie faced death with more courage than most of us will ever know. And from what I have read he didn’t have time to feel sorry for himself, he was to busy making music.
You're right, there is no passion today, not like then. I hate being older, but I'm grateful for being young when all the Great's made the greatest music. 🇬🇧❤️
There _are_ great artists out these days who have exceptional talent and passion, not just in performing but in songwriting... but you have to look beyond the mainstream for a lot of them (although sometimes a real artist manages to get onto even the most mainstream of charts).
This song is awesome among many other songs by Queen. Nobody can match Freddie Mercury‘s voice or his performances. The thing I really loved about this song aside from his voice and the musical instruments, is at the very end you could hear all three or four of the harmonies “ go on on on on”- it was a beautiful sound piece of the family singing in unison and harmony.
I love this song!!! I love it more because to help Freddie through the end of his life, the band just scribbled down lyrics for him to sing, just to help keep him going. Brian May wrote most of the lyrics for Freddie but was unsure if Freddie could sing it. Brian said 'he lacerated it'. He just killed it. It was released I believe in October, a month before Freddie's death. I don't really know if he saw the video as he was having issues with blindness. I also know he had had most of his right foot removed by that time. Help me out Queen fans, anyone know the dates of when he lost his foot? Anyway, a great tribute with beautiful lyrics for the the greatest singer and frontman of all time!
And what’s even more amazing about his voice is that he was so sick at this time. Rogers Taylor said that you could hear Freddie’s voice was thinner by this point but he was still hitting the notes. Incredible.
He was so I'll by the time he sang this, just makes it more incredible to me 💖 I agree with what you are saying , concerts were much better back the, I used to get completely wrapped up in a show. Now I find I am distracted by blue screens getting shoved between me and the stage and makes me so angry. Can these people not just watch and remember, they don't know what they are missing. And yes, Queen practically needed help when the came off stage, the put everything into it, heart and soul. It often seems to just be about image now, the actual content is so watered down, not all artists but too too many. Great reaction as always, I have a few to catch up on but I'm back!! Thank you 😁💖
Another big group that a few times warmed up Queen events were Status Quo, for the most part a far heavier British rock group, they have fewer big hits than Queen but a few of their records have been world wide hits, Rocking all over the world, likely their biggest hit. Nothing beats Queen but certainly some are nearly as close.
Please react to Princes of the Universe by Queen, and also Everybody Hurts by R.E.M. I asked before but I keep getting buried in the comments. love your reactions. My fave channel
I just came acrossed a Queen video I think you might like called Headlong. Freddie was obviously ill when they did the video as he was very thin. But he and the guys gave a great performance and seemed to be having a great time. I greatly enjoyed it.
Freddie recorded this song in two takes. By this time he could barely walk and according to Brian May who was worried he wouldn't be able to sing it, Freddie down a shot of vodka before the take and said fuck it I'll do it. Legend
This was Freddy goodbye song really. It was the last song he recorded. As Sick as he was he did the vocals in 1 take. That’s very impressive. There will never be anyone who could come close to his talent.
You're right, the passion in music is gone now. No passion no soul and meaningles. But great music is timeles... people will still be listening to Queen after 200 years 😉
Freddie could barely walk while recording this song. Brian was concerned and suggested Freddie not record. Freddie took a shot of vodka, slammed down the glass and said "I'll fucking do it darling". Brian said he went in the booth and absolutely killed it!
Good to see you back. Hope all is well. Thanks for your reaction, miss your reaction to Queen. Have you reacted to Cool Cat by Queen? If you haven"t, Please check it out and There must be more to life than this by MJ AND FM. Thanks!
Hmm. This looks like maybe a fan made video. The official video does have clips, since they weren't able to film one....but this one has ones that aren't in the official video. In the official video, the clips flow better with the music.
I can't speak for JB obviously but I think it's because he's reacted to the official vid before and it was taken down for copyright reasons. And i think that to keep his reaction authentic he hasn't repeated a video he's already seen. (Sorry if I'm wrong James)

It's said that Brian May was genuinely uncertain Freddie would be able to record this song, due to how ill he was at the time. In response, Freddie said "I'll fucking do it, darling", downed his vodka, and recorded what you just listened to. Unfortunately, he died before the song was released, and he has never sung it live.
Freddie was the greatest performer and greatest voice of all time.
He once said "I WILL NOT BE A ROCK STAR. I WILL BE A LEGEND."

Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' - vodka down - and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal."
This is my favourite Queen song. Freddie's voice!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was Great, the Greatest and then there was Freddie Mercury. Freddie made the greatest look amateur, he was and still is in a league of his own.
Freddie was beautiful inside and out.
You are on the spot! People should stop using their phones and just experience the concerts again!
Freddie gave us everything he had until he died. I’ve been a Queen fan for 43yrs. He was actually dying during this CD, still killed any frontman.
I love your reactions you seem like a fine young man who has had some hard times .Put your trust in God and like Freddie says keep your smile on.
Its lovely to watch you react coz its like a child at Christmas and its brilliant thank you x
Apparently Freddie was very very ill at this point. He downed a shot of vodka and recorded it in one take...
Not true
It´s true.
@@christianfenner1944 No. He did one line in one take, not the entire song.
@@jacobpaulson23 We're you there, how do you KNOW this?????
@@stormysamuel4666 because brian was there and he told the story? Think for once
And what’s even more amazing about his voice is that he was so sick at this time. Rogers Taylor said that you could hear Freddie’s voice was thinner by this point but he was still hitting the notes. Incredible.
Pass the puffs. Sniff sniff. Freddie was so brave. XO
R.E.M. and Queen are my favorite bands. Loved both of those videos.
DMMP28 Same. Both have some amazing tracks. Night Swimming ..... Shiny Happy People haha
Freddie Mercury - Exercises in love please!!!
I just came acrossed a Queen video I think you might like called Headlong. Freddie was obviously ill when they did the video as he was very thin. But he and the guys gave a great performance and seemed to be having a great time. I greatly enjoyed it.
I love this song!
Freddie recorded this song in two takes. By this time he could barely walk and according to Brian May who was worried he wouldn't be able to sing it, Freddie down a shot of vodka before the take and said fuck it I'll do it. Legend
Well said
This was Freddy goodbye song really. It was the last song he recorded. As Sick as he was he did the vocals in 1 take. That’s very impressive. There will never be anyone who could come close to his talent.
I saw the title of this video and thought you were reacting to the Three Dog Night song. Haha. This Queen song is great, too, so that's okay.
Need to pull the real video off the Queen Webb site. His is fan made. Sorry! Yes, his voice actually improved the sicker he ever got. Thanks!
I love your passion for music. It is real and evident, James.
This is a beautiful song
Be you and just you as long as ppl don't show respect, ur a voice with.......... what ever
You're right, the passion in music is gone now. No passion no soul and meaningles. But great music is timeles... people will still be listening to Queen after 200 years 😉
My favorite song 😍
When I saw the title I thought it was going to be Three Dog Night. But this is well enough.
Freddie,, RIP
Please react to Only The Good Die Young. It's very sad but so good.
Freddie could barely walk while recording this song. Brian was concerned and suggested Freddie not record. Freddie took a shot of vodka, slammed down the glass and said "I'll fucking do it darling". Brian said he went in the booth and absolutely killed it!
Pls react to spread your wings and fly by queen or made in heaven by Freddie Mercury
This was shown at the FM tribute concert.
He controlled audiences like no other
True Queen Fans... Old and New....Get It
JUST KNOW. I too like different genres Artists. From Ray Charles to TLC , AC/DC, Michael Jackson, Eagles. I do LOVE FREDDY & Queen. I love that you get it too.
Please please react to Queen’s Cool Cat. It’s another Freddie you need to hear. Amazing 😉
Hello from Cody Wyoming! I'm4 years late, you're awesome! You help me get through my day...please don't stop😊
Please do In MyDefencebyfreddi. An Back to deLight by Brian may. Thank you. love your feelings about Queen's music.
He was dying when he recorded this in 1 take , fantastic
You should react to "spread your wings" Deacon wrote it and it is really early on in their careers and one of my favorites.
Hi, he's done spread to your wings 🙂
