Un inoubliable chef d'orchestre dont l'allure de rugbyman cachait une grande sensibilité à fleur de peau. Un géant de la musique mal apprécié dans son pays mais adoré des viennois et de la Divine avec qui il a beaucoup travaillé. Merci à vous Maestro !

Well, as much as I love this piece, this was incidental music, during thr break or intermezzo, from an entire opera that no one listens to or sees the entirety of. Pietro Mascagni is what we call a one hit wonder.

Cette sensibilité, cette maîtrise et économie du geste qui parvenait à insuffler à l'orchestre cette tension sur le fil du rasoir ...Ce n'est pas par hasard si Pretre était le chef favorit de Callas qui lui portait une grande amitié. Not only the beauty of the music andrendition but the breeze we can see from his few hairs blowing (no disrespect), it adds the sense of actually being there. I could never get tired of this rendition.. Although I might not watch this everyday, it will bring me here as it has for at least the next 50years and I’m being humble

Ogni tanto ritorno ad ascoltare questa esecuzione che sempre mi incanta, il movimento delle mani del Maestro Pretre rendono ancora più sublime ed emozionante il brano già di per sé meraviglioso.
E' un'invocazione alla preghiera e per chi non crede alla riflessione dei propri atteggiamenti nel migliorarli con il prossimo. Una Lirica comunque di amore.

J'étais dans le théâtre en 2009, je peux vous dire qu'au moment de l'intermezzo, les spectateurs étaient transformés en statues, bouche ouverte tant l'émotion était forte. De mes 15 années de Chorégies, une des soirées si ce n'est la soirée la plus intense grâce au magicien George PRETRE et bien sûr à l'ensemble de la distribution à commencer par notre merveilleux Roberto, Béatrice Uria Monzon et tous les autres.

@@sigridmiller6009 The conductor is NOTHING next to a great composer. And they are rarely geniuses, although people love to think so and worship them. Many are merely arm wavers. Even ones leading great orchestras. I give all credit to the master composers.

My father died this week and I decided that this outstanding piece of music will be the final rendition of his funeral ceremony next week. I know he loved it and so do I. Pretre's overflowing emotion while conducting is driving me to tears.

Una esecuzione magistrale, con ritmo che concilia l'Armonia con il mondo che ci circonda estraniandoci come una barriera placentare dai "rumori profani e dalle passioni che ci tormentano". Diversamente dalla esecuzione del Grande Maestro Muti, che la conduce in modo più energico e rapido, questa esecuzione mi comunica una atmosfera crepuscolare di un meraviglioso tramonto!
E' la musica che mi emoziona al massimo. Provo sensazioni di elevata felicità.. Meraviglioso vorrei averlo come solonna sonora al mio matrimonio se mai ci sarà.
