Hey man just wanted to say I absolutely love your videos, I just got civ 6 a little less than a week ago while it was on sale on Xbox, and thanks to yours and others tips and watching y’all I finally managed to pick up my first win via Japan scientific victory
The AI basically ALWAYS takes desert folklore first, even if they aren't on desert. Unless you get the first pantheon, you literally can't ever get it. It's kinda annoying.
They take religious settlements first, most of the time. They can take an adjacency Pantheon, but only if they have the terrain available or right next to them. They do not however go for desert folklore as a first pick regardless of pantheons, if they do you should probably check your mods because this isnt how the AI behaves normally.
@@samuelhakansson6680 I've never download a mod in my life. I just know that if I get the second pantheon, 100% of the time Desert Folklore is gone.
@@jasonremy1627 That's very anecdotal evidence in that case, because I've picked it up several times, and I never get the first pick on Deity. Out of several hundred games though, the one I do struggle with to pick up is Sacred Path, probably because starting on or near jungle terrain is almost guaranteed to happen for at least one of the AI. It does happen (I have it in my current game), but it's very hard to get consistently. Religious Settlements I don't ever consider, because it's so popular with the AI after the changes to AI pantheon priorities a few years ago.

I played a game as Spain on the huge world map True start location. I quickly spread my cities into Africa and the Middle East. The Hacienda turns desert into Paradise.
It is nice having extra religion points for spamming settlers and builders, plus the occasional great person. Nothing like stealing those from the AI.

That loading was very quick. Mine never starts until Sean Bean finished his intro speech.
Having that many flood plains and marshes turned a decent pantheon into an amazing one combined with Nubia into an advantage. Only Nubia, maybe Egypt but that CIV is so weak, can turn desert floodplains into a strong start like Russia and tundra.

I like this challenge it’s pretty cool💯. I’m still not good at the game and I have only gotten 1 win. I usually just give up because I’m not getting enough good yields and have bad agencies. But I will preserve! I’ve gotten a lot better at planning out my cities but I have a hard time figuring out what to produce and when. In time I will be better though so it’s okay. Trust the process lol
That's a super weird desert city with the floodplains and the horses surrounded by desert. Great location.

I know this video is old, but do you like building Petra as Nubia?
You probably know this, but if you've got your prophet, but you realize you're about to be spammed by enemy missionaries, don't use him. When you use him later, after taking out the evil neighboring civ, any city of yours with a holy site immediately flips to you religion without having to be converted.

river goddess was a good option available as well, but it doesnt give yield porn so it always gets overlooked.
