He's in one pf the Twilight movies (which bums me out cuz I hate that whole series) & there is a scene where he giggles & it's the only reason to watch the movie. That giggle. It kills me. I love him. He is great in everything. I think Lucian was my introduction to him. Quite the first impression! 😍

Underworld movies is one of my top 5 movies of all time for many many reasons.
1. It's a vampire movie
2. It's a Lycan movie
3. Kate Beckinsale is in it.

7. Vampires and Lycans
Can I add an 8? Vampires and Lycans at war!
9. Still a better love story than Twilight.

Remember, to be a hybrid you need to have the blood of Corvinus, and what did Viktor say about Markus? he is a decendant of Corvinus. At the end he is being awoken by Lycan blood, his eyes were changing like Michaels were. I remember being so hyped at that ending back in the day. 😄
Bearing in mind Michael was bitten by Lucian first and then Selene, hence his hybrid traits are more lycan than vampiric, unlike Markus.

In case anyone is interested, Shane Brolly, the actor who played Kraven, whose accent Kat found funny when he pronounced "food", is from Northern Ireland. And the tall, Black guy who plays the werewolf with the crazy deep voice is American actor, Kevin Grevioux.
Kevin also co-wrote this screenplay along with the comic book. He also had a minor role in the film CONGO as one of the soldiers who commandeers their truck.

This movie was my first introduction of Bill Nighy, Michael Sheen, Kate Beckinsale, and Sophia Myles... all of whom are some of my favorite actors ever!

Another movie similar to this that's light on the horror but heavy on the action is Van Helsing. It stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale

It's basically a pre-shark jump MCU movie before the MCU hijacked and popularized the formula.
There's even an animated prequel! Still Hugh Jackman!
I see Van Helsing less as a Universal Monster crossover, and more a proto Castlevania movie. It makes sense when you watch the series and then parallel compare it with Van Helsing.
There's also Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, which has Gemma Arterton seriously rivalling Selene.

Kate Beckinsale as Selene... Good Lord!! 🔥🔥🔥 😍 Yup, the Underworld flicks are a lot of fun especially the first three.

The werewolf transformation was achieved through a combination of practical and digital effects.
Several practical werewolf heads were created depicting different stages of the transformation, they were then scanned and digitally morphed together to create a seamless transition - at this time they were most likely using the Elastic Reality software for the effect.
The gravelly deep voiced werewolf character… is also the writer if I remember correctly.
He has a masters in genetic engineering which is where he formed the science of the plot
I gotta say, it really cracks me up how you almost ignore all the violent parts and really home in on "smoochy" scenes as you put it. I laugh in every single reaction.
Most people will say an Interview With the Vampire, Lost Boys or Bram Stoker’s Dracula is their favorite vampire movie, for me it is Underworld.
Saw this movie when I was a kid and instantly fell in love. 10/10 💖

The first movie is good so long as one is OK with the fact that it is more inspired by the games than an adaptation of one. The second one is ok, and good it one likes crazy action. Then, they get...weird.

Might I suggest Ultraviolet 1998 a six part min series co starring a very early Idris Elba…Penny Dreadful 2014-2016 co starring Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Billie Piper and a comedy adjacent vamp flick by the name of Razor Blade Smile 1998. Ultraviolet isn't known well enough. Hasn't aged that well, but only because most of the ideas have been done elsewhere since then by more successful films/shows, so they don't have the same impact as they did at the time it came out.
I saw a really cute blooper where Kate was being super serious, then she broke and started laughing because she forgot her teeth.
The best part is it's when the Lycan scientist is trying to give his monologue about their plan, but he kept forgetting/fumbling the lines, and then one time he gets it right, she's the one to break character and ruin the take.
I can't hear Selene's line "There could be dozens of Lycans down there" without hearing Kate flub the line once as "There could be dozens of dycans down there - dycans? Dycans?"
There was also funny blooper when Selene is shooting at Lycans in hallway (after visiting Michael for the first time) and she accidentally forgot to pull out one of the guns but still goes through motion like she's shooting with both, dead serious.

I’ve already commented once but I need to say after finishing the entire review that you are so much fun to watch and listen to from your comments to your facial expressions to your reactions. Everything about it is exciting and adventurous and fun and hilarious. You are a great reactorand I watch a lot of reactors movies music videos etc. Keep up the great work.
It's fun when a reactor's personality matches up perfectly with a movie, and this was perfect. I usually aren't a fan of your reactions but it just fit so well with this epic movie. It's a unique genre and this is a very unique interpretation of it and it's so well written and acted. Kate's Selene should be regarded as the most badass female lead of all-time, but the genre pushes it to obscurity. A GREAT franchise that is WAY underreacted to.

Watch her earlier roles as a young adult: her face was cute from a lot of angles, but not gorgeous from any, and very meh from some... and then she got a lot of work done and was STUNNING from every angle. Her beauty was an illusion created by surgeons, and she kept that beauty through regular routine maintenance surgeries ever since. Only recently has time begun to show that she had work done... but every second that you thought she was hot back in the day, even before Underworld, she had already had insane amounts of work done already.

12:03 - The other doctor guy in this scene talking to Michael is actor Wentworth Miller from the TV series, Prison Break. He also stars in one installment in another great horror movie series, Resident Evil. The installment is "Resident Evil: Afterlife", which I believe is either the fourth or fifth installment.

You're missing the point at the end; Markus, one of the "Children of Corvinus" (bitten by bat) got fed on Werewolf. The implication is that he is at risk of becoming another hybrid
I don't think he is a hybrid anymore, being the original vampire after all. He can recall the blood memories of any creature though

Markus can't become a hybrid. He's already vampire. Which is why they needed the untainted descendant. That's literally the whole point of the movie ffs lol

Raze (played by Kevin Greivoux) WROTE Underworld. He was a genetic engineer and researcher at John Hopkins and a comic book geek. Eventually he decided to write his own comic and created Underworld. It's why the vampires and lycans are based on genetic mutation rather than magic. The guy is big enough to play professional sports, but he is a scientist.
Victor vs Michael is an epic battle. Victor found himself face to face with the very thing he'd condemned Sonya for - a blending of the bloodlines. But Michael wasn't a helpless unborn. Michael was faster and more powerful than Victor, but he had zero battle experience. Michael was going on his Lycan instincts for fighting, and Victor had centuries of experience killing Lycans.
Well, you DID watch one of my recommendations (You're Next) so hopefully you'll watch another great horror movie that I love very soon!

EDIT: Another five movies would be the Final Destination series. To really appreciate its perfection, you should to do a marathon and see all five consecutively! (Maybe as an anniversary special or something.) I really can't recommend it any other way because watching you absorb it piecemeal wouldn't be the same. Seriously, that entire series is perfect and I doubt anything will top it in our lifetime. I usually hate sequels, but I owned the whole Final Destination series as a package and it's perfect to drink in that way.

I’ve enjoyed this channel for quite a while, but suddenly I realized something truly astonishing, game changing, dare I say prolific!!!! Kat is definitely the love child of Pretty Woman era Julia Roberts and Battlestar Gallactica’s Katee Sackoff! I might be imparting to much wisdom upon the virginal TH-cam reaction community, but this is the woman that you bequeath a promise ring to. Yet, when she eventually leaves you for a low ranking police officer who talks too much about his high school football days, you’re not only content but somehow happy for her. 😆 🥰
And btw, I loved her work in Zero Dark Thirty as Jessica Chastain’s stunt double!! I would gladly be tortured in a CIA black site for the opportunity to do a cameo on this reaction channel. 😂 😎
The 2nd film, Underworld: Evolution is a direct sequel to the original here. And opens up with a flashback scene to the Middle Ages where Viktor saves Selene as told by Selene here in this movie.
The 3rd film, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, is a prequel to the whole franchise and goes back and tells the story of how Lucian, his vampire gf, Sonja, came to be, and who was killed by Viktor back in the Middle Ages. The whole movie takes place back then. But it's essentially a full filmed version of those flashbacks you saw here in this movie.
And fun fact: the actress who played Sonja in those flashbacks was replaced by the actress who played her in Rise of the Lycans, Rhona Mitra, on the 4K Blu-ray set...at least. It wasn't that way on the standard blu-rays. I don't know how they did it, but they did. I don't know if they could have AI-ed the replacement or what, but it's pretty cool that they retconned that scene in the original to match with the 3rd film.

Shoutout for A Perfect Circle & Puscifer appearing in the soundtrack thanks to Maynard James Keenan. Beautiful genre and choice in music to accompany this vampire noir classic of the ages.
Damn just hearing the music or seeing the film makes me want to dig out my full leather coat and just feel the part and essance of this movie!

I loved your reaction to this, Kat. All of them are good, the best being the first three, the weakest being the fourth (in my opinion) which is okay and still fun, the fifth is better than the fourth, my personal favourite is the third as it deals with the back story and all the history..
Agree. 3>1>2>5>4 Which is a good order because it means after watching the second you then get to look forward to the best one, then after watching the fourth and wondering what they were trying to do there you know the fifth movie gets back on track somewhat.
The howling (1981) is another good werewolf movie. The fx were done by Rick bakers assistant, Rob Bottin. Oh and Rick baker did the fx for American werewolf in London
The crew doing the stunts are the real behind the scenes MVP. They must have been the Harlem Globetrotters collection of the stunts world.
I found this very creepy... at first i thought it was the content. Then i thought it was the doll in the corner, bathed in red light. Again, wrong... Ducks do not sit on tables, its unnatural

So much to love about the Underworld movies. The first 2 movies were awesome with great world building. The 3rd movie was a prequel of the story you just learned of Lucian and Sonja. The story was in England so the weather was fitting. Loved the reaction

I remember when this movie came out, it was so awesome! From the first scene of Kate jumping off that building!
Lucian is still one of my favorites characters, and reminds me of a character archetype that Guillermo del Toro uses really effectively in *_Hellboy II_* & *_Blade 2_* that are a huge part of why I enjoy those two films. Speaking of which, Guillermo del Toro's *_Crimson Peak_* is a horror film that is particularly gorgeous, and if you end up checking out *_Blade II_* and enjoy what he does with that mythology, *_The Strain_* is a series that's full of vampirey goodness.
When this movie came out they put up a web site filled with hundreds of short stories about vampires and werewolves. I spent days immersed in the stories.

I watched it a second time with the sub titles...then it hit me this movie could have been written by Shakespear...it has a Shakespearean vibe...so cool~
My favorite of the whole series is "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans" (2009), which is the third movie. It shows the whole backstory of Lucian and Sonja, and the root of the Lycan / Vampire war. The second film, "Underworld: Evolution" (2006), is pretty good too, but not as good as the third film.
Well heck, if we're doing 'Underworld' then you should definitely watch the first 'Resident Evil' movie. Just the first one though. And you will need to censor the protagonist's genitals at one point or it'll make TH-cam sad. But still. It's an excellent B-Horror.
I've watched that movie a dozen times and never once seen Milla's minge.

One thing that I heard about this movie - you frequently see people who are shooting wear sunglasses. This is because it is hard for someone who is inexperienced with guns - like most actors - to not blink when the gun goes off. Since this movie was mostly dimly lit, this wasn't really an option. So they took Kate to a firing range and had her shoot. A lot. Until she could fire without blinking at every shot.
