I love all four alien movies and think you should finish. You can't just stop before the end of the story. If you do decide to watch the last daily and movie do not watch the extended cut or Directors cut. I don't know why people like those versions. They leave in all the cheesy lines
I will die defending the idea that Alien Vs Predator was a perfect concept. One is a fully animalistic wild creature with zero idea of morality, just wants to live and spread, and is the deadliest beast in the universe. The other is a very advanced interplanetary species that kills for fun and seeks out the toughest challenges just to display dominance and pride itself as the greatest warrior. They fit so well!
Yes! The comics and books are quite famous, the PC games are fantastic, both franchises have roots in scifi horror. The tease on Predator 2 that Aliens exist in the same universe was brilliant and after that it was proven many times that they indeed go together like bread and butter. And then they screwed it up by making it a PG13 cheesy action film with even more cheesy slowdown bullet time action scenes... Dear god I hate this movie so much... 🤦♂
@vladyvhv9579 yeah in the original predator movie billy fought the predator on the wooden bridge in hand to hand combat with his machete but it was off screen , the predator respected Billy's courage, and when Dutch was hurting the predator with his traps he set up and using mud camouflage the predator picked him up and scanned his brain wondering if he was actually human he also took his mask off to fight him hand to hand combat too out of respect
In the books she actually joins the Predator society and goes with them and stays for 40 years. Their tech actually extended her life by 300 years. Her final kill count (via melee) of her solo hunts of Xenomorphs is 23 Queens and 5.6 thousand Drones. Note Predator culture doesn't count Plasma Caster and bomb kills.
@@TheConnonedrum There was both, but I believe this is the books. Plus I don't remember if the woman from the comics and the woman in the books are the same character, but I believe they are. It's been a decade or two since I last read either.
@@blackwidow7804 According to the Terminator Wiki, Bill Paxton's character Johnny the Punk Leader was killed when the Terminator pushed him into a gate.
She also gained his respect when she mercy killed Sebastian. You can see in the scene how the Predator stepped back & was watching what she’s gonna do in that situation. Like it was waiting for her to do what NEEDS to be done! Also a warrior-like trait
There's an unexpected deleted scene, Where the predator (I kid you not) pranks (PRANKS!🤣) Lex before arming her. It just sticks the dead Xenomorph with it's weapon, making the alien's mouth shoot out and jumpscare her. It even gauge's her reaction (seemingly amused) to which she just scoffs and says "ha ha..."
I saw a clip of that scene and laughed so hard. I was so ticked when it didn’t make the Final Cut, cause it really shows you the humor side of Predators which is a rare thing to see
Sa’naa Lathan was a great protagonist. She was smart, competent and didn’t fold under pressure. Her being able to visually communicate with the Predator was a great touch as well.
It’s a real shame that a lot of the characters introduced get killed off way too quick. And the sad part was that none of them were badly written. They just lacked depth, but they had some character and charm.
Maybe it’s just cause this was the first alien movie I watched as a kid, but I LOVE this movie. I know objectively it isn’t great but I always have fun watching it.
I love how the Predator eventually saw and marked her as an ally, and the other Predators acknowledged that as well. I just wouldn't wanna feel the sting of that acid blood marking me.
Loved it since the first time I watched it, 20 years ago. It's like Mortal Kombat. Gives à fanboy kid exactly what he wants. Those 2 movies were simply that great.
People were hard on it because it could have been so much more. The PC games that were released just a few years prior were fantastic classics that hold up even to this day and the books and comics where this spin off got started are pretty famous among the geeks. Two famous scifi horror franchises that were already proven to go together like bread and butter and then Hollywood butchered it with this generic shlock of a movie.
This pyramid serves the Yautja as a way to prove themselves. It is an initiation. They have imprisoned a queen down there who ensures a supply of Xenos. The humans, as pretty much always, were completely out of place. As they enter the complex, you can see one of the floor plates sinking. This activates the pyramid's protocol. However, it should actually be a Predator that starts the said protocol. The Yautja enter the complex and make their way through the environment, which regularly changes as the walls move, to get to their shoulder weapons first. Here, too, it is the humans who trigger this next step, without knowing what they are doing. The moment the weapons are removed from their container, the eggs in the sacrificial chamber rise up, ready for the games to begin. The humans have simply messed up the protocol. Not a big surprise in itself. We are good at this kind of thing.
I think the humans were lured there for a reason. The facehugger needs a host for a Xenomorph. If the Yautja show up without any sacrifices, all they’re hunting are the facehuggers. While the possibility of a Predalien is there with Yautja only, they view the Predalien as an abomination, and wouldn’t ever willingly create one.
@@mikemead7417 It is true that the humans were deliberately lured in. However, the pyramid follows a set sequence once the "trigger" is pulled. In this case, the floor plate at the entrance. The humans play a role in the protocol of the facility, but as you can see in the flashback, their use is limited solely to the sacrificial chamber. It was certainly never intended that they would simply stroll in through the front door, take their time looking around and collecting everything they find. I think the humans are supposed to be in the sacrificial chamber on their altars as soon as the Yautja team leader, presumably the one with the most experience, presses the start button.
42:55 All Xenomorphs are hybrids. They all take DNA from their host. So in the expanded universe, there are many different versions of Xenomorph depending on what species they inpregnate. This becomes more clear if you guys ever watch Prometheus
I have a core memory watching this movie in theaters with my parents, aunt, and uncle. I remember rolling down toward the auditorium in heelies, carrying popcorn and looking at all the cool movie posters. such a throwback to see you guys react to it
The tag line for this movie was "Whoever wins... we lose."😂 I'm gonna say, I'm rooting for the predators because they don't kill everyone... at least I hope not.😮
Predators only kill if they see you as a threat, especially if you try to kill them. We saw in Predator 2 they didn't kill the woman, the pregnant woman, the child. So... yeah. Don't try to kill him and you are save
@@elsacristina9 pretty sure that badbloods were introduced was before Predators from 2010, also it was definetly not a bad movie, you are just one of thos who say that AvP were bad as well yet anyone who watches them enjoys them
I have NEVER been so excited for a TH-cam video in my life. You guys are by far my favourite TH-camrs. You’ve opened my eyes to the beauty of films and as a musician, I love your passion behind soundtracks. Keep doing what you do ❤️
Thank you so much for the massive compliment! It makes our day seeing you guys enjoying these. Music and a good score goes a long long way in movies, it’s another tool for storytelling. When used in tandem with good writing and cinematography it can elevate the film to a whole other level. Shoutout to all those amazing composers out there ❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnights a Xenomorph can lie dormit for centuries, undisturbed. In the first movie of ALIEN... That those Xenomorphs have been hibernating for almost half a millennium before Ripley and her crew found the derelict ship.
Av P Requiem is a terrible dire film so badly made and so nasty and sadistic towards children cannot recommend it at all easily the worse of both franchises.
41:07 - Xenomorphs can function in vacuum of space. I doubt you can drown a Queen. But what will kill her is pressure. Squeeze her like Terminator 1 ending.
Yeah I always thought the queen is probably alive down there actually, laying eggs, I doubt the water pressure would even kill her. and I'm sure she would break loose in not too much time.
@@danielpeckham5520 That depth literally has a pressure of a hydraulic press. No way the xenomorph survives that. It may survive the vacuum of space because it doesnt need oxygen, or maybe its just a temporary survival, but getting crushed by pressure is a guaranteed kill. Especially since we´ve already seen how the xenomorphs look inside, and their structure is certainly not ideal for surviving overpressure.
@@pavelslama5543 Yeah, we already saw Ripley drive over and crush a xeno with that sci-fi tank in Aliens, not to mention there is a kill scene in Requiem where Wolf literally stomps a Xeno head into mush. So the Queen will not survive such pressure.
My biggest complaint with this movie is how quickly and easily the Predators were taken out. The sequel Requiem has one of my favorite predators. He takes on the rising queen and her hive absolutely solo. They credit him as Wolf and he is a total badass.
Gotta remember this was a bunch of human equivalent 17 year olds Predators. This was a test for the young. Wolf in Requiem is a seasoned veteran, from what indicators we are given he may even be one of the best. In a normal Queen scenario he certainly would have won but the Predalien was honestly a completely different beast
@@sakbromely Not only that but "Grid", the xeno that kills both predators and ends up getting turned into weaponry for Lex is the xeno that burst out of Adele Roussou, the blond Frenchwoman who was a mercenary. Xenos get half of their DNA from their host, so tough host leads to tough xeno - according to the lore.
Such an underrated movie tbh. This was my childhood. Having debates about whether alien or predator was cooler. Playing Halo then watching this movie with the homies in the neighborhood. Man oh man. Good times.
@@WheresWaldo05 lmao what an objectively dumbass opinion. It only revolutionized a genre and kicked off one of the biggest and longest lasting trends in modern gaming. Constantly used as the measurement point for value and quality Halo is still one of the best games and most influential of the last 4 decades since 1991. You can have that opinion, but it’s objectively wrong and no one thinks you’re interesting for trying to be different.
I'm glad to see that there's people who root for the Yautja (Predators). They are basically supposed to be the universe's prime hunters. Their technology makes them a breed above the rest, and their culture teaches them that there is no room for error. You either sink or you swim in this jungle.
Yup. I remembered that were there was the eager young one to prove himself and was reckless and then the big brawler. Both were reckless and not clever from age or just being the brawn, and both died pretty quickly. Such a great movie working with that physicallity you can see in each of the predators.
This movie is defenitely more on the cheesy side, but if you watch it more times and more closely, and you can see all kinds of awesome quirks! Like Scar (main Predator) being the smallest, and always flexing his fingers. The Xenomorph with the criss cross pattern on it's head (curtesy of killing the buff Predator) is the smartest and strongest of all the Xenos shown. It's also alluded that it was born from the blond woman, who was shown to be equally strong and capable. Like host, like Xeno. An allusion that the Xenos really "inherit" some of their host's traits.
I loved the tag line from the original movie poster for this film: “Whoever wins, we lose” I really don’t care what folks say about “canon” or not…this flick was one helluva good time! It’s great to see you both thought the same. What a FUN reaction to watch!!!!
I can't remember if it's confirmed or just a theory but the Xenomorph "Grid" (the one with the green grid on it's skin) is believed to be the chestburster from Adele Rousseau, the blonde badass girl that (I think everyone) liked. Hence why Grid is a badass. When Facehuggers plant the embryos in their prey the embryo actually absorbs some of it's prays DNA which is why every Xenomorph has it's own personality and why they look differently depending on what species the chestburster bursts from. Xenomorphs were designed to essentially be the universes ideal predator. The absolute of killing machines. And a part of that perfection is their ability to evolve the more they Facehugger different species.
@@thisbubblygoodness7611 it's a shame the movies haven't explored that too much apart from the dog (or ox) in Aliens 3 and the hybrid in AVP. Requiem set up the perfect chance to see different kinds of Xenos, but didn't.
42:12 "how do you go back to your regular life after this" well funny story, in the source material, she doesn’t! Machiko Noguchi, I think the character is named, joins another hunting party a year or two after being marked by her erstwhile mentor.
AVP 2 has the Predalien. It's a Queen. Did you two catch the fact that the abandoned outpost was abandoned 100 years before? The population of the abandoned outpost fueled the last hunt. Every 100 years.
@@OfficialMediaKnightsI dare you guys to watch Aliens vs Predator:Requiem 😂 Not because of the movie itself, but because the predator in this one is the most badass of them all !
To those who may not know the old predator at the end was at the rank of an Ancient. This is a rank of a predator who managed to reach 1000 years of age. They can often be mistaken for a regular elder rank. And the ancients are more like advisors rather than being the leader of their specific clan
Just FYI, In the first several minutes when Waylan is in his office on the boat, in the movie Waylan uses a pen to tap between the fingers of his hand. This is an easter egg going to the 2nd Aliens movie when he played Bishop the android and did the knife trick on the marine Hudson.
The director's cut does have a scene that takes in the whaling station which explains its abandonment. Does this mean you two will also be watching AvP: Requiem? Lex is not the first human to team up with a Yautja (Predator). In a series by Dark Horse Comics, the character of Machiko Noguchi fought alongside a Yautja, Broken Tusk, and actually accepted into his clan. She traveled with them and hunted with them, until she chose to leave the clan as she would not take part in a hunt for other humans. Also, it's funny you called the Predalien an abomination. As that is execatly what the Yautja call them, and it is a cultural imperative amongst all clans that they be exterminated on sight.
@rhysjarrand5112 Lathan's character was based on Machiko, and the background lore about the Yautja using and developing the Xenomorphs for their coming of age rituals is also from that story. Lance Hendrickson was brought on as this story predates Ripley, and they wanted a connection to the earlier films. Sadly, Lathan chose not to stay with the series. But, timeline wise, Lex would be the 1st human to team up with a Yautja.
Love those books! "Ice Queen Machiko" The first one reads like an Alien film, whereas Hunter's Planet is like this movie plus Predators on steroids, and War was just a mess, but fun none the less
You guys are amazing for watching this the week leading up Romulus! I grew up on this movie and it’ll always have a place in my heart because it’s what gave me the courage to go back and finish Alien. Fast forward 20 years and now I couldn’t be a bigger fan. As far as the sequel lol it’s funny that you say you want to “see” the Predalien. Best of luck!
I'm going to copy a comment from a video of the final scene that I found very interesting: "Fun fact: that Ancient Predator right there? To get to that position, he had to kill at least 3 xenomorph queens and bring back their skulls. Besides clearing a hive of 300 xenomorphs by himself. I got MAD respect for him."
I honestly think this movie is underrated. Seeing these two iconic monsters fight was great!! I feel like they might be building up to a new AVP movie with the resurgence of Alien and Predator. That would be awesome!
The scene when the baby alien burst out the guys chest, and the predator catches it and breaks it's neck is badass. I enjoyed the sequel. Great reaction both of you
I just now realized that's the second time I've watched Colin Salmon getting diced like vegetables. Here with the razor net and in Resident Evil with the laser grid.
I know you guys are playing Alien Isolation, but I would highly recommend Aliens vs Predator, the 2010 videogame. I love that game so much and it really deserves more recognition
The concept for this movie came from Predator 2, when the hero was on the Predator ship. On the wall, you can see all these skulls, and one of them is a xenomorph skull.
Actually the AvP comic book predates the release of Predator 2 by one year, although Predator 2 likely started production before the comic came out and someone involved with the movie probably just added the xenomorph skull to the ship interior as both an easter egg and a nod to the recently released comic book.
Well the sequel has one of the most badass predator of all time Wolf(the predator). Although people don't like the sequel that much but he carried the whole movie for me
It would be a lot better if there was an edit without the brightness turned so far down. We legit can't see much of Wolf's badassitude. But he is absolutely the John Wick of Yautja. His face was scarred during a time that he killed a Queen. Honestly, I'd like to see some movies dealing with his backstory. He's semi-retired by the time of AvP, and the Yautja are insanely long-lived. There'd be lots of adventure to follow.
@@vladyvhv9579yes me too ✋ I would also like see his own spinoff maybe like a series or something with good amount of lightning this time 😂 . But i can't blame the movie too much because they had very low budget compared to other predator movies so that was unfortunate for them. But still him throwing his armor away and straight up boxing with predalion was just ganster. Like you know he is about that life and who knows how big of a menace he would have been on his prime years might have hunted down a king alien too.
This was a hugely anticipated movie at it's time, not just because of the 2 legendary "creatures" meeting but also because of the 1999 1st person shooter game, "Aliens Vs. Predator", which was highly popular (at least in my own circles). I remember playing that game with my friends for hours and hours, making memories that we still talk about to this day. When we heard about the movie, EVERYONE I knew was going to see it.
Random. But the actor who plays Hugh Hammer (The Blacksmith) in house of dragons is in this movie! He’s the one who stays on the surface while the others descend.
With the way PREY and Alien Romulus are goin, we gotta get an AVP REBOOT!!!!!! Soooon 🙏 Favorite of the aliens and predators movies. I'm a Huge Predator fan and to seem them actually move, fighting, doge, etc was freaking mind blowing. Wasn't expecting a full on fight sequence just a lot of fast cuts and spins and what not. They definitely gave the fans something to drool over. The designs, the practical effects, the cloaking devices.
If we get an avp reboot I hope they do it in the style of the 2010 game. Still one of the best games I've ever gotten to play. 3 separate but interweaving campaigns that show stuff from all three aspects perfect
In the extended edition, it shows the crew of the whaling station get wiped out by Predators 100 years before all this happens. Such a cool scene that should've made the theatrical version.
Duuuude! This one came out when I was in high school and I got to see it with my friends! Overall I love it, and it fits well in the world's of Alien and Predator. When it comes to Weyland, my head canon is that this Weyland is the original CEO and founder, the one from Alien³, is a future descendant and became the man responsible for the android models of which Bishop was made. But that's just me. I like his character in this one, he seems more like he genuinely wants to explore and discover, not just make money. It makes sense that after his death, the company would move away from his original morals, so to speak. Much love from Portland, OR!❤❤❤
The commentary on the DVD the actor says that the synthetic is based on the DNA and that is why there is a scene in the beginning withe a pencil and his hand.
15:13 Mommy is awake and she is not happy. I loved this movie to watch 2 of the scariest badasses go head to head in a fight was awesome. Also the fight with the Queen at the end the Elder and other Predators were watching before showing themselves to her. For the Elder Predator handing her a weapon was him saying you earn out respect.
I don't care what anyone says, I love this movie. Its such a fun ride filled with fan service and I'm all for it. You summed it up perfectly. Is it going to win an oscar? No. Is it awesome? Yes. Its such a fun movie.
15:30: Yeah. In the comics, Predators would keep captive Alien queens on their ships, have them lay eggs, then send the eggs in drone ships to planets to infest local life forms to breed xenomorphs to hunt. The main conflict in the original AvP comic came about because the Predators screen the eggs to keep "royal facehuggers" from entering the mix, but the Queen, no fan of watching her eggs get burned in front of her, pushes the screening drone off course, so one drone ship that shouldn't have a royal facehugger aboard does. And this ship happens to be going to the planet Ryushi, where the Predators have hunted before, but humans have set up a colony since the last time they were there. These two coincidences snowball into an unmitigated disaster. That's also one of the main flaws of this film, the executive-mandated modern Earth setting. The whole point of the Alien films had been to keep the Alien from getting back to Earth, Ripley even gave her life in Alien 3 to keep the Company from taking it back. No. . . no, there's been an Alien Queen on Earth for thousands of years, everything's fine. And the modern day setting really makes no sense, since the main reason to do that would be to save money on sets, props, and costumes. Well, they still had to build this whole arctic pyramid set, it could have been set on an ice world in the future almost as easily. Some tweaks to existing clothes and props, probably not much more than they had to do to fit them to the actors and make them safe for filming, and you could have set it in the future away from Earth and the budget probably wouldn't change much. 28:44: "He's like 'I gave you a chance, man'." Was it that, or was it "Oh, you wish an honorable death? Very well." 29:43: "Oh, I do NOT want to know what that combination would look like!" 😁 42:26: That's another element that came straight from the original comic. The Predator elder, Broken Tusk, was injured partway through, left for dead by the other Predators, and because a human was at fault and their ship got blown up in the process, declared open season on ALL humans, armed or unarmed, old or young. The humans found Broken Tusk and healed him, and when the Predators and Aliens start duking it out in the middle of the colony, Broken Tusk realizes what the other Predators have been up to in his absence, and washes his hands of them. Instead, he teams up with colony administrator Machiko Noguchi, and the two lead a charge to wipe out Ryushi's Alien infestation. With his dying breaths, Broken Tusk marks Machiko as a Blooded hunter. 55:42: Read the original "Aliens Vs. Predator" comic by Dark Horse. Hands down, the BEST AvP story ever told, with solid themes and excellent mood that really makes it feel like these two fit together perfectly, and always have.
This film is one of my most favorite “comfort food”; something I can watch multiple times for pure enjoyment along with the Blade films, The Mummy, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Underworld and Van Helsing just to name a few 😎

If you ask why they are fighting " Predators 2010 " movie explains alot...
I just put it together that Lance Henriksen is the voice of Admiral Hackett in Mass Effect (lol I never watch video game credits). His delivery in this movie is a lot like that.
To those who don't know, this was loosely adapted from the comics and videogames of the same name. The team up at the end is taken from the comics. This film favors the Xenomorphs, while the sequel favors the predator. This has the same director as the first Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil films. The predators in this are named "Celtic", "Chopper" and "Scar". The "abomination" you're referring to is called a "predalien", which is featured in the videogames
The director to Colin Salmon: "Remember how I chopped your character into cubes with laser beams in Resident Evil? Well I want to do it again in my next film. With a net."
One of the biggest complaints about AVP was the fact that a crossover of two R-rated franchises was PG-13. The sequel fixed that error, but unfortunately made far more egregious mistakes in the process...
@WheresWaldo05 It's a bad movie, but it's fun and cheesy with the tone of a classic slasher meets 3 Days Grace music video action, a good film to MST lol. It's far from unwatchable and actually has a few really fun scenes and ideas
You guys and popcorn in bed are genuinely my favorite movie reaction channels because yalls knowledge with theirs is such a contrast that it gives 2 unique perspectives
The movie that many were waiting at the time. Be it because of the comics, the games (the beat'em up for starter but the first FPS games were awesome too) or simply because there was a Xenomorph skull among the predator trophy in Predator 2, every fan waited for it, and quite frankly, the movie delivered on that front. Sure the movie is B-tier at best, but we got what we wanted.
They did the inevitable split of characters pretty smartly in this movie. Instead of the people being dumb as shit, the pyramid was designed to force a split. Also, no wonder Blade's mom is a badass XD
The Yautja. Which is the predators species name. Don't attack anyone unarmed. It's too easy and bad sport. But anyone armed is a target for hunting. In this particular case they weren't hunting. They received a signal from one of their "new blood" hunting pyramids that had been shut down since humans first existed. So they came to check it out. The purpose of the pyramid is to breed xenomorphs for the express purpose of their youngest warriors to hunt as a test to become "full blooded" and a full fledged hunter. If they survived the pyramid maze and the xenomorphs. If not. Then another unworthy weak hunter was weeded out of the gene pool. They weren't waiting for the team to find the weapons. That was an accident. But no human could be allowed to have their technology. A hunt yes. But not what the pyramid was made for. And they weren't here specifically to hunt humans. Only to stop the pyramid from activating. And to keep predator technology out of the hands of any species not Yautja (yowwtjaa). Although they have no problem killing anyone. Humans are just another prey to them. Hunting wasn't the reason they came. They stopped the human sacrifices and using earth as a hunter training ground 10,000 or more years ago. Although occasionally one will pop up and hunt humans. All the predator movies are an example. But in general they've left us alone. No longer pretend to be God's. Or use humans in their hunting rituals. For whatever reason. But their entire culture is based on hunting, honor and a specific hunters code. They try to find the most dangerous and powerful prey to hunt to prove themselves and prove themselves worthy of honor and fame. It's their entire culture. And the xenomorphs are considered the most deadly prey in the galaxy. So they're used as sort of a high school graduation for new predators. A trophy is usually taken from the prey obviously. Sometimes an object. Like the old gun in predator 2. But it's usually the skull and spine of the prey. They live on a hot desert like planet. Some canon says because they nuked it in wars a long time ago. But it's the reason they like it soo hot. Because their home world is. How they came across the xenomorphs it only says in comics. They also clashed with the engineers from Prometheus. Who created the xenomorphs in the first place. In my opinion David only discovered one possible mutation of the black goo. The engineers not only would have known every possible mutation of their own WMD/life starter. But would have known exactly how to create a xenomorph from it. And most likely did create them to "cleanse" unworthy planets of life. A long with a hundred other ways to use it. So David being the first to create them is BS. Plus this film would not be canon. David and Prometheus happens hundreds of years in the future from this movie. Anyway. The mark the predator gave her was to mark her as not only a full hunter. But as one of his own clan. One of the greatest honors a predator can give anyone. Let alone a lowly prey human. They don't see anyone as an equal until to prove yourself in combat and live. The spear is also a great honor. They didn't give her a trophy taken off a hunted human like they did in predator 2. They gave her an actual Yautja spear. THEIR technology and weapon. A true honor from a predator. Although considering this woman killed a xenomorph queen I'd say it's deserved. Predator's are ruthless and imcompationate when they hunt. But they have a very strict code. Unfortunately in this movie. It also means the hundreds of millions of people that were ever sacrificed after the predators left were for nothing. And only happened because the predator species contaminated our culture from the very beginning of our species. For their BS hunting rituals. They are organized into families and clans. Sort of like the Klingons in Star Trek. And they behave almost the same way. Although the predator sense of honor I think is far more strict. A Klingon will kill an unarmed person or women or children depending on the Klingon. It's a complicated society. You can see more about their culture in the Predators movie. But this entire movie was an accident. Humans weren't supposed to find it. And the predators were just there to shut it down and get their weapons back. The queen was never meant to be released or the pyramid ever activated. Which I'm sure they saw as a nuisance since they were God's to us and disrespectful on the humans part. And we're not equals to them. So killing everyone wasn't exactly something they cared much about. But there's still the code. You stay out of their way. You're not a threat or armed in any way. And their code forbids them from hunting or killing you. Period. Their code somehow still allows it to not be a fair fight. Camouflage, claws and superior weapons. The Yautja are ten times a humans strength. Somehow that doesn't break a warrior hunter code to them. But whatever. The only thing that doesn't make sense is the alien gestational period. I can only figure that this particular queen was genetically engineered to specifically lay eggs quickly. And that the face hugger/chest burster incubation period was extremely accelerated. Seconds instead of hours to lay an egg. And minutes instead of days to incubate the chest burster. Which makes sense. Predators can be both very patient and extremely impatient if you look at their behavior in the predator movies.
Even if this movie is hated, I really like watching this for fights between Alien and Predator 😁. And fun fact: the story about the pyramid is based on a theory from Erich von Däniken believing early civilisations constructed pyramids with the help of aliens 🤔. This is enjoyable… until the sequel 😑
Remember in the second one, wolf manhandles 2 in the sewers by crushing their throats with no weaponry. A experienced predator is far stronger, faster and durable than a xenomorph, engineers on the other hand are strong enough to beat Queens to death with bare hands.

There's a deleted scene during the predator making the spear and shield for Lex where he stabs it in its head ejecting the Xenomorphs second mouth. Lex jumps, and the predator has a laugh.

The 1st game was really good. First asymetric FPS of it's kind, though balancing was really off as I remember it. The marine has his detector and weapons (hard), the predator invisibility and cool gadget (easy), but to me the best was the Xenomorph (medium) as for it there is no up or down, all walls and seiling are climbable surface. Moving around as the Xeno was such an alien and fun experience .
I love how they showed the xenomorph skull in the 2nd predator movie when they battled in spaceship and then they decided to do an avp movie. Love it!!!!
I'm glad you guys liked this. It's my fourth favorite "joint franchise" film, after the first two Alien films and rhe first Predator film. My only quibble is that they drastically compressed the alien reproductive cycle. What took quite a long time in the first film, between Kane encountering the eggs until the dinner scene... I interpret it as being a bit more than a day... in this film apparently took a matter of minutes. A minor mental retcon to make the pyramid sequences take maybe a couple of days, and this is a near perfect film. It doesn't impact plot or characterization at all, does it?
To be fair, in my opinion, Alien 3 was a hiccup. I believe the franchise started to redeem itself with Alien 4. Fun fact about this movie: the writer was a fan that storyboarded the entire film and tried for six years to pitch the idea to the studio execs. Love the reactions! ✌️😎💕
3 isn't that bad its the killing off Newt and Hicks that annoyed people. Plus 4 only happens because they clone Ripley from her blood taken in the prison.
As a fan of horror I think Alien3 is fantastic, it is the bleakest and darkest of the movies where for once you actually fear for Ripley, everything about the third movie is hostile, the location, the inhabitants, you're just wondering if Ripley will survive Fury 161 long enough to even face the alien.

If you think of it it reminds of Zerg and Protoss from StarCraft.
I just love how the Predator is like, "Ah good, a competent human, I heard those can happen sometimes."
The Yautja have a degree of respect for Humans. Which is why they sometimes hunt us. We are deemed a worthy adversary.

Two famous scifi horror franchises that were already proven to go together like bread and butter and then Hollywood butchered it with this generic shlock of a movie.
I must admit it looks better than I remember.

When Facehuggers plant the embryos in their prey the embryo actually absorbs some of it's prays DNA which is why every Xenomorph has it's own personality and why they look differently depending on what species the chestburster bursts from.
Potentially!

Actually the AvP comic book predates the release of Predator 2 by one year, although Predator 2 likely started production before the comic came out and someone involved with the movie probably just added the xenomorph skull to the ship interior as both an easter egg and a nod to the recently released comic book.

His face was scarred during a time that he killed a Queen. Honestly, I'd like to see some movies dealing with his backstory. In the extended edition, it shows the crew of the whaling station get wiped out by Predators 100 years before all this happens. Such a cool scene that should've made the theatrical version.
In the unrated version, the story is better told.
@@DarthJedi7783 Agreed!
Much love from Portland, OR!❤❤❤
Ahh! Interesting head canon! That definitely works! Glad to hear you enjoyed this one. Sending all the love to Portland! ❤️
The commentary on the DVD the actor says that the synthetic is based on the DNA and that is why there is a scene in the beginning withe a pencil and his hand.
"If it bleeds...the acid can hurt you"
You were so close!
Please don't miss out on Alien 4 Resurrection, it's one of my favourites!
We won’t ❤️
Me if I survived this entire ordeal "You wanna know how I got this scar?"
28:44: "He's like 'I gave you a chance, man'."
Was it that, or was it "Oh, you wish an honorable death? Very well."
29:43: "Oh, I do NOT want to know what that combination would look like!"
😁
42:26: That's another element that came straight from the original comic.
Shhh too many spoilers, otherwise I agree
This film is one of my most favorite “comfort food”; something I can watch multiple times for pure enjoyment along with the Blade films, The Mummy, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Underworld and Van Helsing just to name a few 😎

Watching from Germany here, ive followed reaction channels for years and really enjoy your videos, you really immerse yourselves in the movies and this is what we want to see 😊

Fun fact these 3 predators Were Brothers, names Scar + Celtic and Chooper ...
The last Predator was Scar the leader and older brother this was their first Initiantion hunting because they were young 100 years old i belive (18 years old in human age ) ...
If you ask why they are fighting " Predators 2010 " movie explains alot...
Pretty sure Celtic was the leader as he was giving out orders
@@Ice-tc5vn You are Rigth celtic was the oldest... I wrote that quickly...
I just put it together that Lance Henriksen is the voice of Admiral Hackett in Mass Effect (lol I never watch video game credits). His delivery in this movie is a lot like that.
So cool to see these talented actors in video games! Yet another fantastic platform for storytelling.
I only ever remember Seth Green as the pilot of the Normandy.
Oh if you thought this was darkly lit, just wait for AvP: Requiem 😅
Same school of thought as Solo.
One of the biggest complaints about AVP was the fact that a crossover of two R-rated franchises was PG-13. The sequel fixed that error, but unfortunately made far more egregious mistakes in the process...
AvP2 is unwatcheable
@WheresWaldo05 It's a bad movie, but it's fun and cheesy with the tone of a classic slasher meets 3 Days Grace music video action, a good film to MST lol. It's far from unwatchable and actually has a few really fun scenes and ideas
@@PBRatLord If i cannot see what is happening, it is unwatcheable. No settings can fix it either.

You guys and popcorn in bed are genuinely my favorite movie reaction channels because yalls knowledge with theirs is such a contrast that it gives 2 unique perspectives
Genuinely. They are more cerebral, and she's more emotional. It gives off two very different perspectives.
"i want to be a predators sidekick"
Chris hansen in the back like "go on...."
Please dont forget Alien Resurrection to complete the OG saga. Is a very underrated film.
Poncho. That is all.
His theories might have been laughed at but in the end he got the last laugh as a founding member of SG-1.
We get so much more fun crossover movies these days which people love...and that makes this movie ahead of it's time.
Xenomorphs for life! If a Yautja can take on a xeno without its tech, I'd respect 'em more. ;)
But no seriously, fun movie.
Remember in the second one, wolf manhandles 2 in the sewers by crushing their throats with no weaponry. A experienced predator is far stronger, faster and durable than a xenomorph, engineers on the other hand are strong enough to beat Queens to death with bare hands.
@@danielmillward9947 Well any Yautja that fights with their hands I respect. ;)
I love this movie, 'Alien vs Predator' and 'Prometheus' are my favorites
You guys should definitely "watch" Alien VS. Predator: Reqiuem and I put watch in quotations there because you genuinely cant see half the movie
Haha! Looks like we’re in for another “The Long Night” situation.
@@OfficialMediaKnightsYou will genuinely wish it's as bright as the Long Night lmao. It might benefit your experience to turn your gamma/brightness up.
@@OfficialMediaKnights I must highly advice against that. Requiem is not a good movie, not really. Because not only is everything dark, but some scenes are dumb, others don't make sense, and some the characters are just bad. Also, in comparison to the first AVP movie, requiem is a huge let down.
@@bostonianfulI mean, overall the human element is absolutely atrocious. But we do get to see one of the most badass Predators on screen, as well as Xenos just causing mayhem.
@@degov5 EXACLY! I LIKED IT AND DEFINETLY HAS A DARK TONE AND I AM NOT REFERING TO THE SCREEN LIGHTING BEING DARK. IT IS GOOD.

So happy and excited that you all reviewing these. There are more than 1 of these. Please watch them all..
25:27 - And the same thing in Anderson's previous movie - Resident Evil, to the same actor...
There's a deleted scene during the predator making the spear and shield for Lex where he stabs it in its head ejecting the Xenomorphs second mouth. Lex jumps, and the predator has a laugh.
I love this. Action, horror, and in the end a buddy cop movie! 😂😂❤ This being 20 years old is crazy!
It’s got it all!
This movie holds up very well. Great effects, lots of great action scenes!
You guys should watch Moonfall(2022) next. Just like you said, it won’t win an Oscar but I found it highly entertaining with action from start to finish.
I enjoyed that movie more than I expected to. I'd watch it again if I can watch with someone else.
That queen at the end of the film is very much alive, you cannot deprive them of Oxygen as they do not need to breath and they require no food. All they are is an unrivaled hive who wants to expand
This movie has its shortcomings, but dammit, it also has quite a few extremely fun moments!
I do prefer the videogames, though.
Absolutely agreed! We definitely gotta check out the videogames too!
Never got to play the games! Sounds like they were fun though.
Love it!!!!
Comics, books, video games, and finally a movie 14 years later.
Always hated how that skull didn't have the human skull element which is intrinsic to every xenomorph
Predators are sentient, Aliens are primal.
The Queen is sentient but not the drones.
@@krashd You make good points. I should give it another try.
One of my favourite movies, cause both aliens and predators present
