Karen is a Haematologist. She is an expert in blood disorders and vampirism seems to be a virus in the Marvel universe, so she's the perfect person to find a cure. Before Whistler was murdered, she says that she went to the hospital and took some stuff. She spent the night creating a cure for herself. You were sharp-eyed enough to notice that the blue vials weren't Blade's serum (which are red) so kudos to you...! 👍🏻 I like that they used other creatures like Pearl and explained how Curtis became a zombie. I always remember being exposed to stuff that we weren't mature enough to see, but the 90s was the best for films and music. Saw this in the cinema and was blown away by the brilliance of it. Blade & The Matrix are my favourite films and just like Matrix, the second films in both trilogies are superior to the first, so I highly recommend Blade 2. It was fun sharing your first time viewing of this classic, so thanks for the cool video...!
Such a great vampire movie because it combines mythology, science, and Western and Eastern action. And the legendary Kris Kristofferson with the best entrance to a scene.
Blade was a blast when it came out. If it had "sucked" Marvel would have gone under, blade is the reason the MCU exists. Loved your reaction, it made me batty :) 🧛🦇♥
Deacon Frost is one of the great film villains, you really feel the charisma he has to make people follow him even though he's clearly a lunatic... the conversation where he's convincing Quinn that "he needs him" to get him on board with capturing Blade rather than killing, it's top notch writing and acting and completely unexpected for an action movie. You 100% believe that people would follow this guy. Or the little look and "Thanks" to Quinn after the completely unnecessary punch in Blade's face, great character moment.
Great review👏 Having seen Blade several times, just watching your review now, it occurred to me how much it preceded The Matrix in almost every way. It's uncanny how the aesthetics, stylings, choreography, music and tone are damn near identical. Blade started so many trends. Blade really deserves its flowers, given how it stands as the first modern day Marvel movie.
Blade didn't start any trends, it was one film in the middle of a trend of "dark" (in aesthetic as well as tone) action movies in the 90s, it wasn't the first or the last even if it was a VERY good example of one. You arguably can even go back to the Keaton Batman if you wanted the start of the trend, but you had The Crow, Spawn, Dark City, probably others I've forgot by now. Blade was definitely influential, because it was one of the more successful ones before The Matrix really moved the goalposts for everyone.
Wesley Snipes.By the way, is a 50° blackbelt in one martial arts style and he's got a couple.Second and third degree blackbelts in different styles. That's why he's so bad ass doing martial art fight scenes
"Cheesy and charming" .. reminds me of someone lol. Loved this reaction - I needed it after a hard day and you delivered. Thanks for always putting a smile on my face!
The only times I ever saw Blade in a comic not named "Blade" was in a mini-series "Hearts of Darkness" where he teamed up with Ghost Rider and Wolverine to take on Blackheart (son of the devil in Marvel). Then he was one of the rotating members of The Midnight Sons with Ghost Rider (both Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch), The Punisher and Morbius. He was also a playable character in The Midnight Sons game (2022). The Midnight Sons share a universe with The Avengers and The X-Men.
Watching Wesley Snipes mutilate and humiliate Donal Logue for 75 minutes is pretty great 😎 The exchange between Frost and Quinn about Blade's sword is also hilarious. Lotta good humor worked into Blade.
There were a handful of Marvel character movies made by various studios before the MCU and Marvel Studios were formed. Blade (Warner Bros) was one of the first successful ones. Then came the X-Men series (2000-2020) with Fox, then Spider-man (2002-Present) with Sony. Daredevil (2003) and Fantastic Four (2005-2015) also with Fox, a little Punisher (1989-2008), Hulk (2003), Ghost Rider (2007, 2011) and a few others sprinkles in too. Mixed reviews on most of them, I personally liked most, even with the campiness and questionable production of many of them.
First The Crow, now Blade. Wonderful to see you spreading your wings Kat. Love your reactions. These films were made for you. For only one season, there was a Blade TV series. The cast of characters were good, especially the evil vampire nation. Looking forward to your reaction to Blade 2, a rare gem, a great sequel.
Loved your reaction to this, such a fun film. I don't know if people have suggested "REC" before as a possible future watch but that is my favourite horror and highly recommended.
When this came out it prompted me to buy a big leather trenchcoat to look like a super cool vampire. That was a mistake. It was boiling. And heavy. I looked like gollum in a bin bag.
It was my birthday yesterday and I LITERALLY watched all three of Blade's films. Guess I'm watching it again haha. Between Blade and Buffy, we vamp lovers ate well in the 90s-00s.
So good. Wesley is beyond awesome as Blade. Just the BOSS! Blade was originally a supporting character in the Marvel comic Tomb of Dracula which was part of their horror series back in the 70s along with the likes of Werewolf by Night and Man-Thing. Marvel are currently working on a new Blade movie starring Mahershala Ali and due out sometime in 2025. He already had a voice only cameo as Blade in a post credit sequence of 2021's Eternals. But it is hard to imagine anyone coming close to the uber cool badassery of Wesley in the role.
I read another reactor's comment section and going to pass it along. Back then, this was simply a "vampire movie" not a "Marvel movie." Also in the same year we had John Carpenter's Vampires, another excellent vampire movie. It was a trend following From Dusk Till Dawn a couple years before as well as Tales from the Crypt: Bordello Of Blood, and Interview With A Vampire another couple years before that. It was quite a time when Horror films were the thing blending with other genres of course. It still seems to bounce between Zombies and Vampires today.
Yea I would agree. Im absolutely sure that not many people realised this was anything to do with marvel when it came out. It was just a great vampire movie with plenty of gore and action. With an awesome opening track!
i knew of blade from Foxs Spider-Man, i was hoping there would eventually be a crossover when Spiderman came out and was successful, but corssovers werent a thing until Iron Man and The Increedible Hulk... you dont realize how stoked i was when I saw Stark show up in the mid credits of Inc Hulk...im like "these movies all mean something!"... now crossovers are so common it kind of lost its appeal, but im not against them.
Zombies vs. Vampires: The (Economic) Battle Continues Bruce Watson "Over the past few years, popular culture has become a veritable undead battleground, with armies of zombies and vampires fighting for the top spots in literature, film and television. A year ago, I analyzed this struggle and discovered that there appears to be a loose connection between recession cycles and monster movies: zombie films tend to be more popular during boom times, while vampire flicks are ascendant when the economy is bad."
This is blade the original Marvel movie before it became the MCU but they are intending to bring him into the MCU universe now thhough a different actor will be playing him. I am glad you saw this one and yes Blade 2 is also good and directed by Del-Torro but this one will forever be my favorite even though most people like the second one best and yes Ryan is in the third one with Jessica Biel as well. another good comic based movie is Hellboy from 2004 and it's sequal in 2008 they are both really good and fun movies as well. Glad you enjoyed this one Kat.
That was a mean thing to do. She's way too gorgeous to kill off so quickly. She should have been Deacon's girl. Way better than the one they got to play her.
Every time I see this movie or one's like it I think of the show "what we do in the shadows" .. so many people who played vampires in movies were in the show like Wesley, Donal Logue (crispy vampire), peewee, Tilda Swinton, Danny Trejo.. it's so great to showcase these awesome actors.. and what they did for cinema! I love u all!
Blade is indeed a Marvel hero. However he operates at street level and only concerns himself with hunting vampires (and indirectly other supernatural night-time evil doer's) There has been crossovers with other Marvel hero's, but nothing really of note. He would join The Defenders (with Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Iron Claw) but their vampire hunting priority doesn't 'cut' it for Blade.
This movie is WHY we have comic book movies, specifically Marvel movies. It's one of my most favorite and I watch it once a year. This year, thanks to you, it'll be twice-ish. ^_^ Love your reactions to everything!
I remember seeing this as a teenager at the cinema and loved it!Look at it this way, it was the first movie released by Marvel Studios, it predates the MCU and the X Men franchise, making it the first truly successful comic book movie that started it all. It was the first Marvel movie to feature a person of colour in a starring role, and the first R rated Marvel movie! Winner all round! Great reaction Kat! 👍

I wouldn't inflict the third movie on an IRS agent.. but the second one is my favorite for the trilogy.
@@erikvaid2560 People who act like the third film is the worst thing to exist haven't actually seen bad films. It's really not that bad
@@iAmPimmiCue Yea, some of the action is the best of the trilogy I'd say. It is ofc the worst of the three but still above average for all action movies out there. And it's got Blade.
@@iAmPimmiCue Compared to the first two, it's pretty bad.
@@iAmPimmiCueIt is not the worst movie ever but after the soaring highs of 1 and 2, the third is... well... anticlimatic to say the least. It is such dissapointing end to the serie. Thankfully each Blade movie is self contained story so nobody really misses anything if they skip the third movie.
"He moved" I always LOVED how innocent N'bushe made Karen look there.
Blade 2 is even better than the first, definitely worth a reaction. Blade 3 is a let down, most tend to ignore it.
This woman has perfect reactions to a movie. This is how the writers expects people to act on watching their efforts. Sub added.
5:36 A line delivered so well, Samuel L. Jackson sent flowers.
Been watching movies with you for a while now, Kat, but this being one of my favorite movies, was special.
This is so good. Disney can never do a good blade movie. Weasley Snipes is badass and perfect as blade in this.
Blade being able to do his own stunts as a martial artist is great too
Karen is a Haematologist.
I like that they used other creatures like Pearl and explained how Curtis became a zombie.
It's the coats, innit? lol
Blade 3 Sucked !!!!!!!!!!!
This channel is so much fun!
It really is! ^_^
The genuine excitement when you were watching the head popping scene, was awesome
love your commentary for this!!! so damn funny as usual!
Such a great vampire movie because it combines mythology, science, and Western and Eastern action. And the legendary Kris Kristofferson with the best entrance to a scene.
Rip kris
Blade was a blast when it came out. If it had "sucked" Marvel would have gone under, blade is the reason the MCU exists. Loved your reaction, it made me batty :) 🧛🦇♥
I laughed through this entire reaction. Bravo
"There's not enough of him to go around" I think we learned something about Kat today.
Wow, good call!
The Matrix was in conception for several years and came out a year after Blade. They didn't watch Blade and throw a movie like THAT together.
Ah the days when we could easily have an R-rated Marvel film. Blade walked so that Deadpool could run.
"Cheesy and charming" .. reminds me of someone lol. Loved this reaction - I needed it after a hard day and you delivered. Thanks for always putting a smile on my face!
This was the Marvel movie that put Marvel on the map. They played it as a drama instead of a comic book.
Second reaction I've seen of yours, and it's awesome. Thanks for your horror movie watching sacrifice!
1:30 - Blade is a Marvel Comics character, Kat. 😊
Blade was the first film to set off what we know as the modern day Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Blade started the modern superhero movie trend, but the MCU didn't get started until Iron Man in 2008.
"these vampires can be killed by gunshot bullets, which is convenient" ... nonono, those are SILVER gunshot bullets :)
"Do you have to turn Evil when you become a Vampire...!?"
Ok.... Time to watch INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE now.... Lol
The 90s were peak leather-wearing, dark and broody vampireness. We also had Vampire the masquerade rpg, it was the glory days.
13:04 The slickest, coolest & the FUNNIEST left hook in a movie ever 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fact: The woman who brought the poor bastard to the rave is “legendary” adult actress Traci Lords
Fun fact, I have the Deacon Frost familiar symbol tattooed on my head 😅 (this movie was a very big part of my childhood)
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Ryan Reynolds appearance in Blade Trinity is his video resume for Deadpool.
BAHAHAHA
Sshhhhhh!! Don't spoil it. I wanted to see her reaction when she finds out. I'll have to settle for where she sees how ripped he is
as a big fan of Van Wilder, i was a Reynolds fan ever since, glad he made it as the real Deadpool after Wolverine Origins
Loved your reaction to this, such a fun film. I don't know if people have suggested "REC" before as a possible future watch but that is my favourite horror and highly recommended.
That song you said is a banger is Bang Wa Cherry - Chin Chin 😂
I love you explaining what you are thinking.
Yet again, another reaction i loved. Thank you
When this came out it prompted me to buy a big leather trenchcoat to look like a super cool vampire. That was a mistake. It was boiling. And heavy. I looked like gollum in a bin bag.
i had a trenchcoat phase for a few days, i didnt feel cool in it, i felt pretty lame LOL, gave it to my younger brother
Loving this reaction already and am only one minute in 😂 I love how she don’t know anything about it. She’ll love it
It was my birthday yesterday and I LITERALLY watched all three of Blade's films. Guess I'm watching it again haha.
Between Blade and Buffy, we vamp lovers ate well in the 90s-00s.
ya, too bad Twilight kinda ruined it for a sec, despite me actually enjoying the first one
You bring a smile to my face with your squeals of delight during the fight scenes where they explode. 🎉😊
The shotgun shells had silver nitrate in them, that's why they could kill vamps.
Wesley Snipes is a highly decorated martial artist in real life.
Blade is a super fun movie. Thanks for watching it and sharing it. You have some super fun reactions and sense of humor.
I’m gonna go for a walk now,but you should definitely watch Terminator 2 judgment day!😁
I just have SO MUCH FUN watching you watch these movies!!
Vampires were huge in the 90s.
i knew of blade from Foxs Spider-Man, i was hoping there would eventually be a crossover when Spiderman came out and was successful, but corssovers werent a thing until Iron Man and The Increedible Hulk... you dont realize how stoked i was when I saw Stark show up in the mid credits of Inc Hulk...im like "these movies all mean something!"... now crossovers are so common it kind of lost its appeal, but im not against them.
Zombies vs. Vampires: The (Economic) Battle Continues
Bruce Watson
"Over the past few years, popular culture has become a veritable undead battleground, with armies of zombies and vampires fighting for the top spots in literature, film and television.
This will never win a poll, but the 1985 horror/comedy House is right up your alley. Think, Evil Dead 2, but less scary. 🤔
Great reaction and to one of my old favorites I still watch to this day
The real horror of this movie is killing Traci Lords character off within 10 minutes
Thank you for saying it
That was a mean thing to do. She's way too gorgeous to kill off so quickly. She should have been Deacon's girl. Way better than the one they got to play her.
@@SurvivorBri I really thought when this movie came out that she was going to play that role, disappointed
Yeah, I think they even considered making that character have a twin sister so they could bring her back.
There was a big deal about her being in it at the time, then just not used
Every time I see this movie or one's like it I think of the show "what we do in the shadows" .. so many people who played vampires in movies were in the show like Wesley, Donal Logue (crispy vampire), peewee, Tilda Swinton, Danny Trejo.. it's so great to showcase these awesome actors.. and what they did for cinema! I love u all!
You should watch Blade 2. It’s definitely worth watching.
24:16 it’s not that you become evil, but the thirst for blood gets so intense that it overrides your moral compass.
Blade paved the way for Spider-Man, X-men, Fantastic Four etc.
The blonde vampire woman who takes the guy to the rave, is played by Traci Lords. She's infamous for nearly destroying the adult film industry, by using a fake ID, in order to shoot several adult films, while under the age of 18.
"There is a Marvel movie I havent seen?" MY sweet sweet summer child 🤣
Blade is a character in a series of Marvel comics. That's the connection.
I’ve always thought that Stephen Dorff (Frost) gave a very underrated villain performance in this, never hear much about him when Blade is mentioned nowadays
Kat is the queen of the sound effects. The gun fire and punching effects kill me every time.
Kat, you are hilarious!!!! You make me laugh more than any of the others, and I watch quite a lot of these. The timely comments, the facial expressions, and the gestures combine to have me cracking up!! More please!!😂😂😂❤❤❤
"halfsy-vampsy" bright a hugh smile and a laugh to me! This was a great reaction! Definitely watch Blade 2! It's just as good, in a different way.
Classic movie, cool reaction, subbed!
