I've tried 3 of the palettes and they were amazing, so don't take one review as a deal breaker. They were pigmented, creamy, Reflective and blended beautifully.
It was the 5 Pan Palettes that I tried and loved though.
ohhh no!!! How can these brands come out with such a great formula and then change it 😭

Why oh why did Wet n wild change their formulas?! Back in the day, they had those 6 pan palettes that were better than high end! Then they came out with the trios (like comfort zone) that were also fabulous. They then changed the formula on the trios to a more stiff, dry consistency, and discontinued all the amazing 6 pan palettes! I don't understand why a brand would replace something of such amazing quality with something mediocre!
So I started buying WnW after I kept hearing how great it was and people raved about it on TH-cam but I found them to be trash (this was 5ish years ago) and I was so confused as to why I hated something that everyone loved and if people were just lying because the shadows were so dry, powdery, and would blend off my face so then I learned a couple years later that I had purchased them right after they had done their awful formula change. WnW is so inconsistent, I have a blush from them that I purchased right as it got on the shelves in 2015 that is stunning and when I hit pan (never done that to any other blush in my life) I went to replace it and noticed that the color was totally different and the texture was different yet it was the same package and name, apparently the original one I got was the one off random wrong color because I never saw it from them again and I always checked anytime I was at a store that has WnW until they discontinued those blushes this year. They need to fix themselves fast or else this launch will be hard to come back from for awhile.

Probably to make margins better. I think wet n wild had a way better formula then elf and now I’m certain the formula is extremely similar.
@@gsd715 The 2010 era (IMO) was the best as far as blush and shadows from Wet n Wild. They had a beautiful 6 pan palette with charcoal, and berry/purple shades that made for a gorgeous smoky eye, as well as a blue one and a neutral one...The original blushers at that time also rivalled high end! I almost cried when I realized Wet n Wild discontinued all the fabulous products...that being said, it's not only wet n wild that discontinues fabulous products...I loved the Maybelline Color tattoos, which are now only available online, as well as many, many, other great quality products from the drugstore that were discontinued and replaced by mediocre products. Wet n Wild has a lot of potential...I agree...they need to step up their game to get back to where they were 10 years ago...

I picked up two of these at my local Walgreens the other day and was so excited to try them until I looked on the back and realized several "EYEshadows" are labeled as "not intended for use on the eyes"???? W&W never did that in the older ICON palettes and the quality was SO much better....why oh why did they mess with a good thing?!

That was awesome! Here’s why: I love that you present not only videos with products you like, but also you dare to say it honestly when it’s not good. I don’t follow that many makeup artists on TH-cam, probably three, but you’re the only one who does that. Please don’t change that style!! We love seeing that it’s not always a good product that is “sooo pretty”, whether it’s high-end or drugstore. We also want the dirt on them and to know when it’s not a good buy! Thanks Risa! The packaging reminds me of those Elf bite sizes palettes. I don't think it's a coincidence.

I used the heart and sol palette with no problems what so ever great pigmentation on both mattes and shimmers easily blended and created several eye looks that lasted 12 plus hours through a work shift love that palette and just ordered the others

Wet n wild used to have the best shadows...like the comfort zone palette, walking on eggshells, and the 6 pan palettes (back in 2010 I think). The colors were beautiful. They then discontinued the fabulous shadows and replaced it with something mediocre! Doesn't make sense :(

I’m sorry to hear that this pallet didn’t work out. I appreciate lower price point make up items being profiled and reviewed. I hope wet and wild steps up their game. They seem to be putting out some good products for a while, namely those awesome

Ok... I just bought the gold palette and the blue green one. I'm surprised you had so much trouble. I absolutely love these 2 palettes. I found them very pigmented and blended like a dream. The shimmers are gorgeous too. I used a good primer too so I'm not sure what happened with yours.
I used the heart and sol and no issues blended great with great color payoff
You should try the "Nude Awakening" on the 10 palette. It's one of my favorites from wet'n wild.

I just purchased one of the Color Icon 5 pan pallette and it was bad! I hear ya about how the shimmers disappear and become patchy. I'm taking mine back! The Elf bite size are sooooo much better! Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes things just don"t work. I like the old Color Icon palettes a lot. At least you tried! Lol.
This makes me so sad. I love the 32-pan color icon palette I got from them at the beginning of the year. I have even hit pan on the aqua shade in the top row. Brands should not mess with a good thing. Thank you for saving me money. Appreciate your honest reviews. Happy New Year!!

I have never had a good experience with anything from Wet n Wild! Or Profusion Cosmetics. But we share a love for BH Cosmetics 🥰
Same but with the exception of a lip kit I bought from Profusion however that was the only thing I bought from the brand. W&W? Never. But I'm right there with you when it comes to BH Cosmetics. I don't have a lot from them but the 1 25 pan palette I do have I love. I'll pull that out just to use the baked glitters because they're that good...

I hear everyone here on utube rave about those wet n wild, color icon eyeshadow palettes, the older ones that she showed at the start of the video. Tons of other influencers on here use and love them. I have bought and tried all of those, none of them have worked for me either! I always try n tell myself "I got a bad palette" so I would see them in another video, go buy another one, and same thing. The shimmers would ALWAYS get hard pan on me after the first swatch or use. The mattes were all chalky and powdery and patchy. They would stick in places, not go on at all in other places. I've had terrible experiences with those palettes. Ive not had good experiences with the profusion eyeshadow palettes either, not as bad as wet n wild, but not good. Profusion face products work great for me! Blushes, bronzers, highlights. But not eyeshadows. And I'm NOT a makeup snob! Most of the makeup in my collection is affordable, very affordable makeup!
@@heathermullins3620 Yeah, I've seen many rave reviews about those older W&W palettes on other chs as well. I was surprised to see that because of my experience. I experienced the same issues you did. I also use a good eye primer (UD primer potion. The one for oily lids) so I know my experience had nothing to do with that. Like you the 1st one I bought I thought I got a dud so I bought another. Still had the same problems. After that I knew it was the product. Again like you. I'm not even close to being a makeup snob. I don't own any high end makeup (I do own a Marc Jacob's gel liner but I'm not sure what range he fits in, lol) and the amount of mid range products I own I can count on 1 hand. When I got the notification for Risa's video I got excited because of the colors but mainly my hope was that they worked on the formula. As we all saw that was so not the case... 🤦♀️
@@tammiemartinez6485 I do like the colors in the older palettes, wish they had worked. And these new ones, colors look so pretty too. But I'm not even gonna bother with buying and trying these...... I also used a good eyeshadow primer when I tried those shadows, I actually tried several different primers...... a good affordable brand, I think anyway, is makeup revolution! I love their shadows! The reloaded palettes, the chocolate bar palettes, any that I've tried really, I love them all. That's not to say i havent got a dud here n there, I have. But I own a TON of makeup revolution palettes, and only a couple duds I've found. And not a couple palettes, but a couple, maybe a few shadows out of all my palettes.
Wow so glad you did this review. I was curious about these. I have Nude Awakenings in the old formula and I quite like it. How disappointing.

Thanks for reviewing these. I saw these on the wnw website, but haven’t seen many reviews on them yet on YT. I was hoping the change in formula would be similar to the formula prior to the black packaging. I wonder if their 5 pans are any better?

Aww I got Call Me Sunshine and I got pigmented shades and only one was hard pan. But other than that it wasn't too bad but I only used it once. I'm going to play with it again tomorrow and see.

I wonder if their 5 pans are supposed to be their attempt at the e.l.f. Bite Size 4 pans. So curious id the quality of the WnW 5 pans are different.
Did you try any of the five pan ones too? I assume they're the same type of quality as the bigger ones but I was just curious though lol what a bummer for sure to hear! I seen them being sold at my local Walgreens the other night but haven't seen them in any other stores yet anyways

They had such a good formula (like the formula in the palette you showed to compare) Why would they change it?
I was excited for these and bought some and was highly disappointed there wasn't any pigmentation in some the only color I like was a gold glitter in one of the smaller palettes.
I really hope they don't discontinue the OG Color Icon eyeshadow formula. If YOU are struggling... that's saying something.

Hi Jody! I used something different on my brows here- the UD Brow Blade in taupe. I’m glad to hear you think they look good because I was thinking the front of my brows looks a bit too warm on camera.

I got the nude one and I enjoyed the mattes but holy fallout on the shimmer! I still have a few shades to try in the palette but I think I am going to be gifting it to my 10 year old to play with lol. Now....the tinted moisturizer they just came out with....it is FANTASTIC! Like, as good as Missha BB Cream fantastic in how evenly it went on and how long it lasted.

Hmm. I got the lights out and the nude awakening palettes. Mine came out way more pigmented. Maybe just a bad batch.

Ive tried tho go comando palette and love it it also blended lime a dream wasnt patchy and the glitter in the palette was beautiful it also lasted through a 12 hour shift i picked up the lucky charm palette its so pretty it only has 1 matte but i combined my other wet n wild palettes and the shimmers in the lucky charm were beautiful i was able to sheer out the shimmers to just get pigment and created a nice eye look so ive not had any issues with these palettes some fallout but i do eyes first i had no blending issues took my time built up the color of choice slowly and blended out well they are good palettes for the price and work just as well as some more higher priced affordable palettes like bh and color pop so id say they are worth it

Hi Risa! I received my palettes also and had the SAME issues!!! I bought the Sunshne and the Heart & Sol palettes and were so so so disappointed. I also bought the smaller 5-pan Commando palette and same disappointing quality. I'm really bummed out.

I’m sad I just got this palette and looked it up to see if it was any good but to me it blends fine but still a little worried
Mine are on the way....EEEEeeeee! I hope using a better brush will help. Also, I pat on rather than windshield wiper application. Fingers crossed!!!!!
As a former pro makeup artist I use top quality brushes and tried both patting and swiping, but I do hope you have better luck!

It’s the P.Louise eyeshadow base and you can get it on the Morphe website or in their stores.

@@RisaDoesMakeup So disappointing! I can't believe they released these. They don't even come close to either of the two previous formulas. The ONLY improvement is the packaging.
What a bummer; wet n wild is normally fantastic. I did like the golds from the second look and the third look, but I guess it took effort to look good. I’m watching in my phone so I couldn’t see the patchiness 😋 Thanks for the honesty.

I have had at least one product from WNW in my collection steadily for probably over 25 years, but just not a fan anymore. They are no longer cruelty free which is really disappointing, and based on the looks of this, sounds like the quality of some of the products are going to pot too. I still have an old Walking on Eggshells trio, I don't use it on my eyes anymore because it's old but I still hang on to, reminds me of the good old days I guess.
