They need a ❤ button here. I absolutely LOVE these guys. They actually had two lead singers, but everyone in the band took their turn. Please check out "Last Morning" and THEIR version of "The Ballad of Lucy Jordon". Then if you want something a bit funnier, "Everybody's Making it Big But Me" "The Cover of the Rolling Stone". For an absolute make-you-cry-for-days tear jerker, there's"Daddy's Little Girl"
@@TonyM1961 I mentioned"Queen of the Silver Dollar" in another comment and I think they already did"Sylvia's Mother". I was just trying not to list every song. They'd never get through it all. Lol
I took sign language in college and had to sign a song as my final one quarter. I chose "Last Morning" . It was well over 30 years ago but I still listen to them all the time. "Carry Me Carrie" is still a favorite.
I was fortunate enough to see Dr Hook recording a show at the BBC in London around 1980. The group chatted with the audience in between songs, a great bunch of lads. ❤
Love Dr Hook!! "Baby makes her blue jeans talk" and "The Millionaire" are great songs to react to. Also "The cover of the Rolling Stone" will crack you up
Dr. Hook had two major phases - a hard-rocking, uproarious, occasionally drunk band in the first half of the 70s and a mellower soft rock band in the late 70s/early 80s. I genuinely like both of them!
I was fortunate to see them 4 times in the 70's and early 80's. They never disappointed. The live version of "Sylvia's Mother",recorded on Shel Silverstein's boat, is amazing. "Carry Me, Carrie" is another one that pulls onmy heart.
The one and only ... One of the best live bands I have ever seen, so much fun at their shows. You can do any of their song.Theya rea ll great. Love you to do "Carry Me Carrie" ..a real banger.
What a coincidence, I just added another Dr. Hook album "A Little Bit More" into my collection today. My mother had a great collecton of their albums so I grew up with them. It is sign of a fantastic group when 40-years after listening to the album, you find you can still sing along with all the songs. A good song from this album to checkout is the title song "A Little Bit More."
This song was up there in top ten and Doctor Hook had his hits songs for a good while long thanks Jay and Amber love you guys bless you thanks for the memories
The happiest band of all time. Smiling, laughing, dancing, mugging for the cameras. Ton of personality. It was a no-brainer to have them host the Midnight Special.
You guys should check out "Freakin at the Freakers Ball"...When I was about 12yrs old my mom took me kicking and screaming to see them and Commander Cody at the Circle star Theater, I sat with my arms folded at the beginning of the show totally pissed because I didn't want to go, and by then end I was standing on my seat cheering, they were great and I still dig their music today, also check out "I got stoned and I missed it", and definitely "Sharing the night together".
Classic sounds of the 70's. They had a lot of great songs, "The Cover Of The Rolling Stone", "A Couple More Years", "Sweetest Of All" are right up Amber's alley, especially the last two.
Hello from Brooklyn. As soon as Rob said "you know they're looking" the music gods in my head started "BACK STABBERS" by The Spinners. This subject is presented perfectly and so groovilicious with Soul Train Style. Trust your friend ~Red
I used to tell my first wife she was the most beautiful woman in the room (she was) , It was exactly like the song goes, always looking over my shoulder.. took its toll on both of us.
"I got stoned and missed it" is one of my favorites by them. The band is just having so much fun on this song. And you can see the talent of everyone in the band. Their stage presence was amazing. Check it out. A song I would not have listened to years ago is one of my favorites now.
When I was in fourth grade, my classmate, Jessie, brought in his dad for show and tell. It was DennIs Locorriere from Dr. Hook. We all had the opportunity to ask him questions. At the time I had never heard of Dr. Hook, but I was a huge queen fan. So my brilliant question to this rock star was, “are you allowed to like queen “ Dennis graciously replied, “yes, yes we’re allowed to like Queen”
Jay does have a beautiful woman, but he's pretty adorable himself. A great match. And the relationship appears to be solid enough that they'll still be a great match when they're old a neither looks like they did when they were young. ❤
Great song!! Love to see the reactions to the things I grew up on I wished that music was still around as far as being able to go to some of those concerts!! But the awesome work!! Love the channel!! Keep rockin!!🤟✌️
The funny thing is that 'Eye-Patch' Ray was always seen as Dr Hook's singer, but the bearded Dennis guy was the one who sang on most of their hits. Ray sang on some very memorable songs, but Dennis Locorriere was the main singer of the group. I love both, ofc.
"Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show" started as a "Stoner Rock" band (My term) and made their way through light disco to easy listening. I was a huge fan of the first album. Especially "Four Years Older than Me". Such a kick a$$ jam. Also a very sweet "Mama, I'll Sing One Song for You"
So this band were "partay" people. One of their biggest hits was "The Cover Of Rolling Stone". That song, as well as many others was written by the same person that wrote Johnny Cash's hit "A Boy named Sue". The reason I mention that is he also wrote some of the best children's books ever. Have you ever read, "Where The Sidewalk Ends?", or "The Giving Tree"? You won't find a bunch of video on this guy but he was amazing in how he saw life. His name was Shel Silverstein.
Those are actually the guys singing high pitch female backing vocals. Ray also was contemplating leaving the band before the car accident he lost his eye to in 1975. All songs after may not have been created if he didn't lose his eye!
A couple of their hits were written by Shel Silverstein. Shel Silverstein also wrote hit songs for Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, He wrote songs for movies and was a playwright wrote books and had cartoons published in Playboy. He was nominated for an Oscar and Golden Globe for a song he wrote for "Postcards from the Edge"
I lived in Germany from 2011 to 2017, and this song is still hugely popular there, and anything by CCR. Shout out to all my fellow one-eyed pirates out there! ☠
I saw them open for the Stones as a kid. I am still listening to them today. Here is a group of other songs in order of success. 1. A LITTLE BIT MORE. 2. SEXY EYES. 3. I DONT WANT TO BE ALONE TONITE. 4. COVER OF THE ROLLING STONE. 5. SWEETEST OF ALL. 6. ROCK ROLL MEDLEY IS HILARIOUS. 7. IF NOT YOU. You guys are the Mod Squad.
Dr. Hook started out as a rock band and become a disco group. But they kept on cranking out jam after jam. Two more from them in this era: “Sexy Eyes” and “Better Love Next Time”.
There are several amazing videos of them early on with Shel Silverstein the poet. Dr Hook and the Medicine Show made quite a few of Silverstein's poems into songs. In the videos they are just kinda jamming out on Shel's houseboat and having an absolute blast. The best versions in my opinion of Carry Me Carey and Sylvia's Mother. Also, I grew up in the small town that Ray Sawyer, the gentleman with eye patch, is from. I met him a few times as a kid and a teenager, and he was a really nice guy.
Dr. Hook was a great band. I never get tired of hearing them.
More great songs by Dr Hook. "Sexy Eyes" "Love You A Little Bit More" "Sylvia's Mother" "If Not You"........ Take ya pick. ❤
Don't forget "Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk." 😊
They did Sylvia's morher and Sexy Eyes,Ibthink ,as well
Sexy Eyes is pure 70s.
@@jossetteking4967 Love that video. LOL
@@bigb6046 I think alot of people do, but for some reason it's seldom mentioned. The song itself is very catchy. The video is great --- and cute. 😊
Amber is a beautiful woman! Such a great song from the 70s.
Indeed. Jay is a lucky man. 🙂
Always loved this song! It's a fun one. 😁
Now you’ve got to react to the video of them doing the song:
“The Cover Of The Rolling Stone”!!
You’ll get a kick out of it!!
They will love it 🥰
I had it on 45. It was clear plastic, red I think 🤔
"Millionaire" is another great funny one
And that song got them on the cover of the Rolling Stone!
My favorite of theirs. It was actually written by Shel Silverstein, who is better known as a children's book author.
Yes!!!! Cover of the Rolling Stone!!! Please???
Cover of the rolling stones is a great song from them too, honestly every song from Dr. Hook is a hit! Live is always better.

He really was the voice of Dr Hook
I was fortunate enough to see Dr Hook recording a show at the BBC in London around 1980. The group chatted with the audience in between songs, a great bunch of lads. ❤
We partied with them at the hot pool in Fairmont BC circa 1980.
I love you two .. you are listening to the music of my youth this song came out when i was in high school ...
Love Dr Hook!! "Baby makes her blue jeans talk" and "The Millionaire" are great songs to react to. Also "The cover of the Rolling Stone" will crack you up
