Years from now really speaks to me. My husband and I were together for over 38 years and I lost him to mongrel cancer last year. Years from now............
Ray Sawyer, eye patch one, is my cousin on my father's side. Always heard good things about him but wasnt close to any family on that side of the family. Always liked the band even before I found out i was related to a member.
Dr Hook went through a bunch of reinventions, but every thing they did was fun and catchy. This was a fun song to dance to, lots of flirting going on, happy memories. ✌️
Dr. Hook was actually a VERY underrated band in my opinion. Over the years they’ve done rock, pop, country, and this one even had a disco vibe. This, along with “Sharing The Night Together” (which I think you’ve already reacted to previously) are my favorites, but next, you guys need to delve more into their mellow and sensual side with “A Little Bit More”. “Only Sixteen”, which is a cover of a late 1950’s hit by Sam Cooke, is also a really good one. You really can’t go wrong with anything by Dr. Hook, honestly. Much love as always, Jay and Amber. You guys are awesome and I always look forward every day to your videos. Keep ‘em coming! ❤
"A very underrated band" who sold 2,276,607 albums, not to mention their single sales? TH-cam seems to be awash at the moment with these silly "underrated" comments. 🙄
Walk Right In is an ooooold that my parents used to listen to with neighbors, but I don't know who was the original artist. They also listened to one called, Barefootin'. Take off your shoes and throw 'em away. Come back and get 'em another day. We're barefootin'. We're barefootin'. 😆
Sylvia's Mother is my favorite Dr. Hook song. In my 50's, I see the perspective of all parties now. Puts an interesting spin on things. Also, it tells a story and isn't something you groove too. Just what you haven't heard yet.
I met the band a long time ago at a club. My roommate and I invited them back to our house to keep the party going after the club closed. They were complete gentlemen and a lot of fun to hang out with. Years later, my roommate saw them again and although they didn't remember her, they did me. Probably because my beers were the only alcohol. lol Great Music from great fellows.
When I was about 10, in 4th grade (1981 or so), my classmate, Jessie, brought his dad in for "show and tell"; it was Dennis Locorriere from Dr. Hook. At the time, I was a Queen fan, so I asked Mr. Lacorriere, "are you allowed to like Queen"...my young mind thought there had to be some kind of inter-band loyalty. He patiently answered, "Yes, yes, we're allowed to like Queen". Years later, watching Ozark, there was an actor I felt a great vibe from and really didn't know why I liked this guy so much. Checking IMDB, it was Jessie, my VERY old classmate. It's all a little weird, because from what I remember, we weren't really friends. He was a cool kid but I don't really remember anything else about him.
Dennis, Ray and the band killed this - ah the 70s/80s soundtrack of my life! Oh and Amber's Sexy Eyes!!! Thanks Jay and Amber! Arohanui from New Zealand!
You started out with the 70s party band version of Dr Hook. This song takes you into the 80s soft rock version of the band. The crazy thing is that they are equally great playing each part.
I just love Dr. Hook they were an amazing group with a whole bunch of great hits. I think my favorite is "the cover of the Rolling stone" because they are crazy also.
Songs that you have not reacted to but worth a reaction are "Queen Of The Silver Dollar", "Only Sixteen", "Little Bit More" are all great songs by them to hear. Two great underrated Gems by them also very worth your time would be "Loveline" and "Better Love Next Time". Their smooth! Please do continue with Dr. Hook. "What Do You Want?" is such a cool track off their Sometimes You Win album and most underrated but so groovin'. it's Funky Hook.
Ray Sawyer is the one with the eyepatch. He has a song that will tear your hearts out called One More Year of Daddy’s Little Girl. It’s quite a change from his usual antics. The lead singer’s name is Dennis Locorriere.
We played it on the jukebox one night just based on the title and no one ever played the a-side again in the bar. Everyone sang along and just laughed. Thank God others remember it besides me.
I wish I could like this song more than once just because the groove on this song and the lyrics are just so fine. You know what I mean? That guitar solo is just so smooth?
Love that y’all seem to really enjoy the music from my generation. Dr. Hook (& the Medicine Show) is a great novelty band that actually was a serious music group as well. Y’all should check out “Freakin’ At the Freakers Ball”. It’s so funny and fun too. It’s even funnier than “Cover Of The Rolling Stone”. They also have a great song called, “You Make My Pants Want to Get Up and Dance” that’s both funny and great. Thanks for covering the music I’ve loved my entire life. 💜
I remember hearing this song at the Atlanta Limelight dance club when they had a disco night in 1980. Of course disco was on the way out by then, but people still had fun dressing up in their 70s disco outfits and just having a good time. I remember every time he would sing "Sexy Eyes" everybody would whisper sing along with the backup singers. :)
Ten years of great songs from a really great band of the 70's. Beautiful voice Dennis Locorriere and funny Ray Sawyer (RIP)...thanks for such sweet music!
For more Dennis listen to "I Light Up", "I Don't Wanna Know" and "Underneath The Moon" from his 2005 solo album "One Of The Lucky Ones". If your not familiar with this solo album. Just giving you more wonderful music by Dennis. If you are familiar with this album 👍👍👍. The entire album is great.
Would love to have you guys give a listen to "More Like the Movies" it really showcases just how good Dennis's voice really was , and a beautiful song. Also I know you did Sylvia's Mother but it was with Ray singing it, you really need to hear it by Dennis his was the original version that was a radio hit for the band, Ray started singing it when Dennis left the band.
Check out Ray Sawyers (the one with the eye patch) song Daddys Little Girl. It's a true story and will bring a tear to your eyes. The saddest song I've ever heard.
If i was ever granted one wish in life I would take Jordan and Amber back to the Junior High gym in the 70's when these songs were new and were spending that friday or saturday night holding up the walls with our friends abd occasionally going out on the dance floor. But....those days are gone and will never come back.
🇬🇧For both my 50th and 60th birthday I had a 70's disco, just FANTASTIC, everyone from teenagers to grandparents strutting their stuff, literally all night, GREAT music, everybody dancing, just brilliant. The youth of today don't know what they are missing!!!😊
On TH-cam there is a "song" Medley that is a medley of 50's songs and each person in the band gets to sing. You will like it. I love "Carry Me, Carrie", "Freakers Ball" and "Millionaire" that you haven't done yet
I would LOVE to see you try some Renaissance Northern Lights and check out the vocals on this one. One of the bands I'd forgotten about but loved back in the late 70's. Her voice is AMAZING...
During the early 80s ( I was high school age) my mum heard Dr Hock hits All those classic tunes, from her friend, Mum came across the album Dr Hock Medicine Roadshow album, She was embarrassed when she put it on, freakers ball, Doing it naturally, about hash speed and LSD 😂😂 my mother nearly died on the spot and hurried to stop the record polluting her childrens ears 😂😂 I was a fan since then 😂😂🫡🏴
I love them all, but, A Little Bit More, and Sharing the Night Together are my favorites in that order!!!. Nothing like shouting out Sylvia's Mother though. That's a classic!!! Cover of the Rolling Stone is absolute gold too!!! It's a fun one!! EDIT: Sadly, Ray Sawyer, your guy with the patch on his eye, died in 2018. I thought it was a bit more recent than that. Time flies!!
Dr. Hook was such a great band! When my kids were little I often had a Dr. Hook album on cassette tape playing in the car as the kids and I went about our daily errands, so they learned all those songs at a very young age. Sometimes they didn't get all the words right, like when my daughter was about 4 or 5 and she would sing along at the top of her lungs about "sexy eyes ROLLING across the floor" (instead of moving across the floor). Of course a few years later she would sing it that way just to aggravate me! Anyway, thanks for reacting to Dr.Hook as it brings back a lot of great memories!
“Only 16” is one of my lifelong favorite songs all genre. It came out when I was only maybe 7 years old, so I was clueless to the meaning, but I loved it anyway
I used to listen to my dad's Dr Hook greatest hits tape when I was bored and we were somewhere hanging with folks his own age. I would go through his tape and cd collection and I still love a lot of that music still. Love it. Thank you.
Jay and Amber I don't know if you have already reacted to "Street Corner Serenade" by one of the original southern rock bands Wet Willie... known for their big hit "Keep on Smiling". It has a great doo wop sound with sax and vocal harmonies that really rock👍
*"DOLLI AND THE LUXE - ROCK VRS OPERA - 1984.VOB"* Female Pop Duo (*Dollie De Luxe*) from Norway debut North America Expo '86 Vancouver BC Canada (16-year-old childhood friends) Benedicte Adrian and Ingrid Bjørnov - *Queen of the Night / Satisfaction*
Ok, young'uns-- Now you hafta do Hot Chocolate's 1976 disco hit "You Sexy Thing"!! Was a big hit with the roller disco crowd all the way into the early 80's!! As always, Blessed Be, & Peace!! 🙏☮
I knew all the DR HOOK the greatest hits by the time I was 5yo lol , my mum had the greatest hits album from the 80s and played it till the 90s lol , my favourite song was millionaire and rolling stone .
Going back to “The Yodel Song”, you should check out Wanda Jackson’s “Cowboy Yodel” for some of the yodeling. Also, remember Bobby Bare’s “Marie LaVeau”; Dr Hook did the original version; fodder for your next ‘day of covers’.
I found 'A Couple More Years ' by Dr. Hook by accident. The '2' button on the jukebox wouldn't stay down until the third time I pushed it. One listen and for the next school year I stopped @ that DQ every time I went home for the weekend and drank a Coke listening to 'A Couple More Years'. This was 46, 47 years(?) ago.
I had the great fortune (as a teen) to go back stage in the 70's and witness Dennis Locorriere and Ray Sawyer tying up a music journalist with guitar strings and throwing beer all over him. It seems Dr Hook werent too happy with his review 🙂 One of the most enjoayable gigs I have evr seen.
Love Dr.Hook! Along with this one,I really love “Sharing the Night together” , “ Little bit more.” Also “Sylvia’s mother.” 🤎🤍👍
Would you mind?
When you're in love with a beautiful woman.@@acornsucks2111
All of the above for sure. I was hooked from the very first song I'd heard from them. The cover of the rolling stone.
I agree 100% with all of those. All great songs!
Better love next time, only sixteen, and millionaire!
When You're In Love with a Beautiful Woman is such a good song.
Don't forget " Better luck next time"
I agree
Beautiful Woman was such a great song!! 😊
They have reacted to "When You're In Love with a Beautiful Woman" 11 months ago.
I love Sexy Eyes…..it made the R&B charts.
It sure did! I forgot all about that. “Sharing The Night Together” made the country charts, which just goes to show how musically diverse they were.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Only Sixteen" !!
-cheers !-
Yes, only Sixteen is awesome.
Originally written and recorded by Mr. Sam Cooke, which I personally think is much better than Dr. Hook's cover.
Someone may call the authorities.
Love BOTH Dr. Hook AND Sam Cooke's version(s)!!!
She was only Sixteen, Sylvia's Mother, A Little Bit More, Years From Now, and If Not You, are all great songs of theirs.
Years from now really speaks to me. My husband and I were together for over 38 years and I lost him to mongrel cancer last year. Years from now............
Yes! Only Sixteen! That was THE song when I was in junior high.
They have like 30 or 40 big songs Love your 70s songs Jay n Amber.
Sharing the night together is so good!
That's my favorite by them.
Ray Sawyer, eye patch one, is my cousin on my father's side. Always heard good things about him but wasnt close to any family on that side of the family. Always liked the band even before I found out i was related to a member.
Any relation to a Tom Sawyer? 😂
Dr Hook went through a bunch of reinventions, but every thing they did was fun and catchy. This was a fun song to dance to, lots of flirting going on, happy memories. ✌️
Always loved Dr Hook!!! Still have their album!! Amber I loved watching your reaction for sure on this one. Just too cute!!!

@@narabdela just my opinion, which you’re more than welcome to disagree with, but there’s no need to be rude.
One of the greatest pop bands of the seventies hands down❤❤👍👍🤘🤘
The late 70s / early 80s was an awesome time for soft rock: Dr Hook, Cliff Richard, Olivia Newton-John, Paul Davis, Dan Fogelberg, Kenny Rogers…
All of my favorites! Also have a soft spot for Ambrosia and Andy Williams! There a few more 70's and 80's bands i could mention!
I wish they'd react to another Cliff Richard song. They loved "We Don't Talk Anymore," but the video got taken down.
Check out “ Sweetest Of All”, “Walk Right In”, “A Couple More Years”, and “Sylvia’s Mother”.
Walk Right In is an ooooold that my parents used to listen to with neighbors, but I don't know who was the original artist. They also listened to one called, Barefootin'.
Take off your shoes and throw 'em away.
Come back and get 'em another day.

😆
Oh, I forgot about, Sweetest of All!!! I agree!!! I just love them all!
YES!! So glad you looked at this classic...these guys were a blast. Vibin" with yall tonight:) Thank so much!

I Got Stoned And I Missed It live with keyboard player Billy Cummings singing are a classic
Get ‘em Amber! 😂❤. One of my favorites I grew up in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s and my mom made me love music! I am so lucky. You guys have a blessed one!
Yes indeed, "A Little Bit More" and "If Not You" are great songs.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. One of the most powerful songs ever recorded is "Kiss it away" by Dr hook and the traveling medicine show.
Sylvia's Mother is my favorite Dr. Hook song. In my 50's, I see the perspective of all parties now. Puts an interesting spin on things. Also, it tells a story and isn't something you groove too. Just what you haven't heard yet.
They already reacted to this beautiful song! th-cam.com/video/I1-5sPThvi0/w-d-xo.html

Haven't heard this in ages! Love it. 👁 👁
Baby makes her blue jeans talk is one of my favourite Dr. Hook songs. I have that one on my workout playlist lol

Thank you for listening 👊🏼👍🏼!!
Great reaction! You two are hilarious!
Ray Sawyer is the one with the eyepatch. He has a song that will tear your hearts out called One More Year of Daddy’s Little Girl. It’s quite a change from his usual antics. The lead singer’s name is Dennis Locorriere.
Wow! This brings me back! 😍🥰
Watch Amber' s eyes when they sing "sexy eyes": Wonderful!
For a really fun song, "You make my pants want to dance"!😂
We played it on the jukebox one night just based on the title and no one ever played the a-side again in the bar. Everyone sang along and just laughed. Thank God others remember it besides me.

Both good suggestions. I would like to add "Roland the Roadie and Gertrude the Groupie" to the list.
Dr. Hook was a very good live band !
Dr Hook had so many great songs. Love listening to them!
The "eye patch" guy is Ray Sawyer. He's quite a talent all on his own.
Great song, I forgot who sang this one! Love it !!❤
Glad you guys did this one !!❤❤❤
😂😂😂 love you guys!! Thanks for the reaction & the entertainment!
This song has Bee Gees/Saturday Night Fever vibes. It was a nice change for them. You should check out A Little Bit More by Dr. Hook.
Dennis Locorriere and "I Don't Wanna Know", "I Light Up" and "The Truth". Great solo songs from his album "One Of The Lucky Ones"' (2005).
I remember hearing this song at the Atlanta Limelight dance club when they had a disco night in 1980. Of course disco was on the way out by then, but people still had fun dressing up in their 70s disco outfits and just having a good time. Two opposite sides of Dr. Hook, Ballad "Sylvia's Mother", Fun "Freakin at the Freaker's Ball". Both are worth your time.
They reacted to "Sylvia's Mother" a year ago.
The soup stone is a great song of theirs.
Love me some Dr. Hook. You might enjoy: Walk Right In - Only Sixteen - A Little Bit More. Thanks for the reaction, guys!!
I forgot Dr Hook did this! I love this song!
👍🏼
"Girls can get it", "Everybody's makin it big" but me and Carry me Carrie" were real good songs too.
Ten years of great songs from a really great band of the 70's. Beautiful voice Dennis Locorriere and funny Ray Sawyer (RIP)...thanks for such sweet music!

Can never go wrong with Dr. Hook !!!!
Who knew Richard Petty was moonlighting with Dr. Hook? Ha ha!
Carry me, Carrie and I can't touch the sun are two of my favorite Dr. Hook songs! You guys should check them out.
On TH-cam there is a "song" Medley that is a medley of 50's songs and each person in the band gets to sing. You will like it. I love "Carry Me, Carrie", "Freakers Ball" and "Millionaire" that you haven't done yet
Love the way Dr hook never take themselves seriously.
Hey Jay and Amber!!! I think the yodel song J was referring to is accurately called Hocus Pocus by the band Focus! Just FYI.
Such a fun song
I would LOVE to see you try some Renaissance Northern Lights and check out the vocals on this one. One of the bands I'd forgotten about but loved back in the late 70's. Her voice is AMAZING...
I've always thought Dr. Hook made the most seamless transition to disco.

Really wish all would do Freaking At The Freakers Ball.
Great Choice! Pretty sure I haven't heard this one since back in the day! Great Reaction You Guys. :)
Best hook song.......Sylvia's mother.
This was a great song from the past!!!
Ray and Dennis doing the "Wild Colonial Boy" is great
Love it. Thank you.
Dr Hook has such a great combination of different types of great music and fun that they so easy to be fans of in the 70s and early 80s.
Listen to Sharing the night together… my favorite..🔥🔥🔥
Jay and Amber I don't know if you have already reacted to "Street Corner Serenade" by one of the original southern rock bands Wet Willie... known for their big hit "Keep on Smiling". It has a great doo wop sound with sax and vocal harmonies that really rock👍

Great Song!, Great Band! Dr. Hook👍 sexy 👀
One of my favorites!
Love Dr. Hook ❤️✌🏻🎶
