Dr. Hook were a great easy rock band. Their best hits include: "Better Love Next Time", "Sexy Eyes", "A Little Bit More", "Sylvia's Mother" "When You're In Love With S Beautiful Woman".
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman", "The Cover of Rolling Stone" and "Sylvia's Mother"!! " edit- Dennis Locorriere on lead vocals.
Dr. Hook had a bunch of great songs. This one was a bit on the "easy listening" end of the spectrum. Try surlechapeau's suggestions or "Only Sixteen", or "I Got Stoned and I Missed It"
So many great Dr. Hook songs. Like others have said "A Little Bit More", When You're In Love With a Beautiful Woman", "Sexy Eyes", "Only Sixteen", "Freakin' At The Freakers Ball", you can't go wrong with any of them and most of their songs were written by Shel Silversteen, the same guy that wrote "A Boy Named Sue", as well as the kid's books "The Giving Tree" and "Where the Sidewalk Ends".
Shel was a trip! He was a poet, children's author, songwriter/performer (he recorded stuff like SARAH CYNTHIA SYLVIA STOUT, among others), pop artist(his adult work often appeared in Playboy), and did occasional TV appearances on late nite TV. (OOPS, JUST SAW 'JUST ME' BEAT ME TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED 'SARAH').
nice only sixteenis great. its a sam cooke cover...and you know a great number of his students at this point. rod stewart, james taylor, and steve perry have all sat at the feet of the master sam cooke. you will want to work your way through his stuff at some point!
I can't believe you've never heard of Dr hook before.. Being Gen X I grew up with Dr hook.. Beautiful vocals & great songs!!! Dennis Locorriere is the lead singer... LOOVVEE DR HOOK!!!!
I know you guys are amazed at how bold and smooth the pick-up lines seemed to be. In this day and age he would have been labeled as a creeper or worse. But coming out of the "Free Love" movement of the 60s and the "Wife-Swapping" movement of the 70s, no this is just how it was. You could go up to a groovy chick and say things like "How about a pizza and a shag?'" and that's what would happen. A very different time, kids. A very different time.
GREAT 70s band!! They had some truly awesome songs like "On the Cover of Rolling Stone", "Only Sixteen", "Sylvia's Mother", "A Little Bit More", "When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman", and "Better Love Next Time". Dennis Lacorriere is the lead vocalist.
Dennis Locorriere is the lead singer, he's awesome. I love this band that started out as nothing more than a bar band. The Cover of the Rolling Stone (at that time was the name of the magazine that all bands and singers wanted to be in) was the very first song I ever heard on the radio
I love the one live video I saw of them doing "Cover"... omg they looked like they were TRASHED... it was hilarious! Really great song, I sure hope Jay and Amber react to it sometime.
First one I remember was SYLVIA'S MOTHER just prior to COVER OF R.S. - and just watched it on Y.T., after half a century SYLVIA's MOTHER still puts tears in my eyes.
It will be hilarious seeing a reaction to 'The Cover of Rolling Stone'...especially having an expectation to the band after seeing this. You may not believe it at first...but yes, it is the same band. Dennis Locorriere always had one of the voices that surprised me the most, as when you saw him, you didn't expect that voice...but his voice was always so soothing. 'When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman' is probably my favorite song by them, a big hit of theirs...but all the songs folks have mentioned are worth listening to.
Yep, right on! 1983 Christmas holiday weekend at the nurse's dorm in Wittlich, Germany, proved the power of this song and Dr. Hooks greatest hits as I brought it along and didn't get back to Spangdahlem, AFB until the next day, great memories ❤
Request "Sexy Eyes", "When You’re In Love With A Beautiful Woman", "Better Love Next Time", and "A Little Bit More." In no particular order. All are good.
If you listen to this group again, you will be shocked when you hear their other lead singer, the guy with the hat and the eye pitch. His voice is one of the most gravelly voices I’ve ever heard. He is right next to Wolfman Jack. Listen to “On the Cover of the Rolling Stone.” It is AMAZING!!!
The extended version of this song is pure gold. That guitar solo in the interlude is such a magnificent piece of work. So powerful and still so smooth and soft. ❤️
Dennis, with that sly grin and bedroom eyes...he was a charmer 😍. Please give "When you're in love with a beautiful woman" a listen! You guys will love it!
" She Was Only Sixteen" another great Dr. Hook cover song. Such a wonderful band with a string of great hits. "Sylvia's Mother" another great song. Don't forget them. More Dr Hook please. Ray Sawyer does the vocals Jordan. 🎶🎶🎶 Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦 🇨🇦
One of my favourite bands. So many brilliant songs, you definitely have to do more. Sylvia’s Mother, A little bit more, cover of the rolling stone are definitely worth checking out 😊👍
Dr. Hook- Medley is incredible! One of their best performances. You also get to hear the vocals better from the drummer and the keyboard player, a must watch!
Dr Hook released 30 singles and of those, 20 were top 100 hits. These guys will take you on a ride. A lot of great love songs and a bunch of crazy, silly songs.
One of my all time favorite bands. It’s about time guys. I’ve seen them live several times. Dennis’ voice is so smooth and he does such sexy love songs. Ray (eye patch) does lead vocals too. The bands styles of songs can be quite different and you will be surprised. Sexy, funny, raunchy lol. I love them all. People have suggested some really good ones. Not sure if Years From Now has been suggested yet. It is quite touching and was even used as a wedding song by people I know. Please give them more air time. As always. Love you guys.
KIDSSSSSS!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOUUUUUUUUUU!!! I've been asking for this for a while and you delivered. They also have "Sexy Eyes" and "When you're inlove with a beautiful woman" all great songs.
I saw Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show many times in concert, on occasion they'd invite the audience back to the hotel bar after the concert & the music would continue.... Dennis Locorriere is the lead here. Ray Sawyer (cowboy hat & patch) sang mainly backing vocals but sang lead on their hit "The Cover of the Rolling Stone". My favorite is "Sylvia's Mother". Children's author, Shel Silverstein, who wrote "Where the Sidewalk Ends" & "The Giving Tree", wrote many of their hits. He also wrote "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash.
Don’t mistake this band as loving song writers. They are true hippies. You have to check out “Cover of the Rolling Sone, Queen of the silver Dollar, and most importantly, Sylvia’ Mother”.
I was a fan of Dr. HOOK back in the Day . They had alot of hits you would be surprised. They performed at my father's school he taught at in the 80's or 90's . That was nice of them to do . Thanks for covering this group they deserve the attention.
Dennis Locorriere sings lead most of the time. Ray Sawyer (eye patch guy) sang lead on Cover of the Rolling Stone. I love this band - talented and just plain good music.
Dr. Hook's whole catalogue is worth listening to. Two songs that show each end of their spectrum are the soft and sensitive "A little bit more" and the 'Party on!' vibe of "Freakin' at the freakers ball". Both amazing in their own ways. And everything in the middle is just as good! My personal favorite though has got to be 'Sylvia's Mother'. They are one of the few bands where you can pick a song at random and be totally happy with your choice!
I remember they used to be called Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show. Dr. Hook’s voice is so smooth in this song and his pickup lines are polite and gentle
Great band from the mid 70s to the early 80s. They were really something live. They had a blast on stage and connected so well to everyone in the audience.
Omg!! this group were part of my early years.Favourite song has to be "A little bit more" ,but there are so many wonderful ,easy listening tunes.Great choice guys.
These guys were so good live! They brought the Capital Centre to their feet!! Ahh the memories. I have been blessed to see some of the best at their peak!!
“Levitate” and “Millionaire” are 2 of my favourites from them. I also love “Cover of the Rolling Stone.” All bangers that are worth a look. Great reaction, thx guys.
This one was so so, you’ll get a better feel for them listening to “On the cover of the rolling stone”, “Sylvia’s Mother” and “ When you’re in love with a beautiful Woman”
I was wondering when you would get to Dr Hook! Now... 'Love You a Little Bit More' the end with 'Cover of the Rolling Stone'. You'll love the variety and the great music (and the fun!). 😏😁
I love your reaction to this song, which I have loved for years, probably longer that you've been alive!. The lead singer on this one is Dennis Locorriere and the guy with the eye patch is Ray Sawyer. This band is truly a great rabbit hole for you to dive into! They have so many great songs I won't even attempt to list them. But they have "easy listening" songs like this, and "rock" songs and many songs with a touch of humor. Keep reacting to them!
When I was a kid they would play this on the radio and at the skating rink for couples only skate .Imagine how cool it was skate dancing around the rink to this song .. Hearing and feeling the flow along with the breeze in your face is a feeling that you would/could never forget .. Or being out cruising around just as the sun is setting with your girl/woman sitting next to you in the car with the windows down feeling the evening breeze .. You have to put this on a thumb drive or blue tooth it in your car .. and go for a drive around sunset , roll your windows down and turn the tunes way up .. You will see what I mean .. This is one reason why the 70's and 80's were magical times .. We made it magical even without drugs or drinks .. Music , mood and memories ... Most all of the music from that time was made for 4 things dancing , driving and chilling ... hooking up/making babies .....
These Guys are so awesome to see in Concert, I have been fortunate to have seen them 3 times and once was on my Honeymoon back in 1981 and they had my Husband and I on Stage and sang when you're in Love with a Beautiful Woman and Sexy Eyes and after the Concert they gave Us a Night at A Hotel as a Wedding Gift, we had only been Married for 3 Days and The Concert was part of Our Wedding Gift From Our Bosses....
@Don't Hate Me - I'm Just A Messenger Thank You, We were very Blessed, Unfortunately My Husband Passed Away in 2015 but I have so many wonderful memories... You're right Great Music never goes out of Style.. Even though he is gone I still Dance ... Blessings to you... 🌹🤗🙏

Top 5 favorite artists of all time. Way before my time but I've always loved them. "A couple more years" "cover of the rolling stones" "freakin at the freakers ball" "silvia's mother"
Great song. People were definitely more upfront in the 70's and 80's. People met in person then, and were able to relate to each other as people, not just profiles on an iphone. The lead singer is Dennis Loccoriere, and you're right...he has a beautiful voice. I think he's still performing.
Great band that a lot of people sadly have not heard of 😢. And ! They were fantastic to see in person, lots of fun and great energy. This rabbit hole will be lots of fun , thanks 🙏
Dr Hook is a great rabbit hole to go down...Some fantastic songs...A little bit more... Millionaire...Only 16...Cover of the Rollingstone...Storms never last ..just to name a few
I’ve never seen your guys content before but I could tell after the first few lines that the dude was thinking that this was pretty smooth lyrics and then his grin got me when it hit the parts about the lights being low. Now I think he might like to use Dr. Hook content in the future. You got bit 😊 Great band, love many of their songs but this one for sure tops the charts
Fun fact, Rolling Stone Magazine was the epitome of making it in the music world. To be on the cover meant you had made it! Their song Cover of the Rolling Stone did it for them. They are the ONLY band in history to get on the cover simply by singing about it! This band had a lot of fun songs (One Step from the Jungke to the zoo and be sure to check out the yodel song! Lol) as well as many beautiful songs (Carry me Carrie, Sylvia's mother). I've seen them perform 6 times. Sadly Ray Sawyer has passed on (the eye patch guy) and he did sing lead quite often as well
Just thought I'd mention, the background whispering vocals, were The Cherry Sisters... who did a lot of backing vocals in the 70s. Always loved them. I don't usually watch reaction videos, but I like you guys, gonna keep checking you out! And, I've always loved Dr. Hook. I'm a big music fan, and used to be a DJ... Lead singer is Dennis Lacorriere. Thanks for this video!
Does my heart good to see y'all enjoyed your first taste of Dr. Hook (and the Medicine Show). Like so many have already posted, there are so many. Among those mentioned, Baby Makes Her Blue Jeans Talk and The Cover of Rolling Stone are iconic, and of course, "I Got Stoned and I Missed It". 😉♥
Dr. Hook was one of my fave bands in the 70's, the lead singer Dennis Locorriere is from NJ (where I live now) and he now lives in the UK (where I am from)! There have been about 8 or more in the band over the years, their first hit in the UK was "Sylvia's Mother", lots of other great hits too including my favourite "A Little Bit More" which is my favourite, you will love them.
Some other great songs of Dr Hook are "Sexy Eyes", "When you're in love with a beautiful woman", "Sylvia's Mother" and "A Little Bit More" They were big in the 70's
This was their later stuff. You want to see some craziness watch their earlier live stuff. They were INSANE! A good time band for sure. You need to see "Sylvia's Mother" from Shel's Houseboat. Live, raw, and near perfect
Dr. Hook were a great easy rock band. Their best hits include:
"Better Love Next Time", "Sexy Eyes", "A Little Bit More", "Sylvia's Mother" "When You're In Love With S Beautiful Woman".
Cover of the Rolling Stone
@Brian
Oh yeah! Can’t forget that one!

"Sylvia's Mother" is something special...!

Yes these three are signature Dr. Hook, must listens!
So many great Dr. Hook songs. another vote for "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman".
"When you're in love with a beautiful woman" is such a great song. Dr. Hook is a really underrated band. I loved them!!!

I've said the exact same thing. Way underrated in their performances!

Yes!!
Yes I agree
Please do the live version. They are fun to watch too.
Yes!!
The song was written by famous children's poet Shel Silverstein as well.

My personal favorite 2 songs by Dr Hook and the Medicine Show are
Freakers Ball - just a funny song
From the Jungle to the Zoo.
Dr. Hook had lots of good songs, already listed below by others. A really cool soft rock group that always had something playing on the radio.
Dennis, with that sly grin and bedroom eyes...he was a charmer 😍. Please give "When you're in love with a beautiful woman" a listen! You guys will love it!
Dr Hook - Sylvia'a Mother! Great Song

Only sixteen, Walk Right In, Years from Now... they do have a great selection

Now you need to react to "Sylvia's Mother" and "Cover Of The Rolling Stone(true story) both by Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show.
Finally!!!! Glad to see you finally got round to Dr. Hook.. as they are so much fun! 😁
"You're looking kind of lonely girl." Yes! One of my absolute favorites!
Wow guys taking me back in time! Thank you! One of my favorite songs from that time!
Wonderful choice guy’s easy listening makes your soul smile 😃
Dr Hook is a great rabbit hole to go down...Some fantastic songs...A little bit more... Millionaire...Only 16...Cover of the Rollingstone...Storms never last ..just to name a few
Love them. One of my favorite songs by them is A Little Bit More. ❤️
I’ve never seen your guys content before but I could tell after the first few lines that the dude was thinking that this was pretty smooth lyrics and then his grin got me when it hit the parts about the lights being low. Now I think he might like to use Dr. Hook content in the future. You got bit 😊
Great band, love many of their songs but this one for sure tops the charts
I have always enjoyed Dr. Hook. They have many different types of songs, but they always seemed to be enjoying themselves in the videos.
Always loved them there is more!
SUPER BIG 70s coolness
This was their later stuff. You want to see some craziness watch their earlier live stuff. They were INSANE! A good time band for sure. You need to see "Sylvia's Mother" from Shel's Houseboat. Live, raw, and near perfect
Can never go wrong with Dr. Hook
Another great Dr. Hook song is Baby Makes her Blue Jeans Talk.
This one took me back to my teenage years thanks so much love y'all 💟
It is so full of hope to see young people paying attention to great music whenever it was made.
Dennis' voice is sooooo unique
Carrie me Carry, is one of their many great songs!
Cover of the Rolling Stone is a must
