Damn you Martin. Just when I thought the temptation of building a War of the Roses was over, you slip in with 2 bat reps (and the possibility of a third) and pull me right back in. Excellent video as usual.
Okay, the young man who is leading that armoured cav in turn 7 needs a god damn promotion! Butchers the light cav attacking the wagon, takes fire off the handgunners and retreats to regroup. Then takes off more fire than D-Day AND THNEN recharges up the hill. Valiant is an understatement. Great video as always mate! Really enjoying the background stories coming out of this, plus I like that you're doing the smaller fueds and quabbles

@@7thson726 am I imagining that handgunners had a rule that would require a breaktest if you took fire from them? Or was that replaced with capping saves at 5?
@@karlmcbride9265 nope your right, if you take hits from them, even if you save you must take a break test, essentially as if the shooting unit had rolled a natural 6. So either way when the heavy cav charged they would have been taking one, and saves capped at 5+, may have forgotten to apply it in couple of places 🤔😁
Fantastic battle report very entertaining swinging both ways and the small men at arms driving off the Calais veterans and Harrington’s unit was something lol
Brilliant game, swinging to and fro with very unpredictable results. Only at the very end of the game was there a clear victory. Loving these series of videos and look forward to the next clash after the Christmas period.
Great series of games by the way. I do like the use of lesser nobility commanders for these smaller games rather than the royal leaders or senior dukes. Greatly looking forward to the next one. Keep up the good work.

I noticed that you force a breaktest when rolling a single 6 on shooting. The HC rules are that if you need a minimum 6 to hit then two rolls of 6 are needed for the breaktest. If you need a 5 or 6 (or 4,5,6) then a single 6 forces the test.
I love those hay stacks. Did you make them or buy them? If you bought them, where from please? If you made them...do share how. :) A great game, it entertained me during yet another painting session.
The haystacks are made from a solid core, polystyrene, or I used offcuts of door mat. Then sprinkle the coir doormat bits over the top. Drizzle with watered down PVA.

Hi Martin ! I love your WOTR stuff 👍🏻. I find the armour and army style in general of the 1450 - 1500 period so cool looking that I'm on the verge to start this in 28 mm. Besides from the WOTR, do you know of other conflicts of this period that are "wargamable" ??!
Early Italian wars , Swabian war and Burgundian wars , though all of these are more reinessance than medieval which means that the pike is the favored weapon of both sides and that the swiss are in some way involved
There’s also the Thirteen Years War (1454-66) in Prussia between the Teutonic Knights and the Poles, and several other wars centred on Hungary/Hussite Bohemia. Lots of hand-gunners and pavisiers with elaborate and/or uniform shield patterns.

Some of the trees are from last valley, others are homemade. Twisted wire with rubberised horse hair makes the substructure, then add flock.
