Against the unit on the ford? They only needed a 5+ to hit so the 6 caused a break test (the result of which was disorder) you only need a further 6 if the orginal target number was 6 👍

Hi Martin, was just musing on light cavalry WofR rules for Hail Caesar (I'm slowly building up an army) I thought about lowering light cavalry attack dice but giving them a special rule that they get an extra dice per casualty the enemy unit has sustained, incentivising players to use them to hunt down weakened units. What do you think? Great report, I really thought you had it in the bag!
Thats not a bad idea at all, i did toy around with the idea of them getting a bonus when they pursue units as well. It can be tricky coming up with little rules as you want to add flavour but also not make something game breaking 👍😁

Great battle but I think you should of had the +2 for being in defensive buildings. If your opponent can flank you by just going over the wall the buildings would be full of men and hard to shift. It’s like there is no point to defending and easy to assault.
Question: If you are moving up a road in what I presume to be column, how are you charging as units in column cannot charge? Secondly if they are in column on a bridge how do they get 7 attacks?
Basically we overlooked the charging in a column, so they would need an order to change formatuon, then one to charge. As for the combat on the bridge, we decided it would be rather uninteresting to just be throwing one dice each. The units also represent the the men climbing round the sides, wading in the water and generally getting stuck in, was just more fun. This evolved into how we played our town battle using zones, essentially the bridge is a zone, for our games anyway 👍
Love the campaign idea...Great report but I think you have got a couple of fundamental rules wrong...when you test for breaks after a melee the dice are only modified by excess casualties NOT the number lost in that round. Secondly when a unit is routed any troops in sight/supporting said unit also test.

In Hail Caesar you test if you are defeated on combat, you deduct the difference in casualties caused (page 75) there are no other modifiers, in Black Powder its excess casualties, took me a while to remember they play different. You're spot on about testing for supporting units, just overlooked that one 👍 but will remember for the next 😁
Martin- great reports. I am looking at doing units from Jasper and Owen tudors forces at mortimers cross. Do you have any suggestions for sources for orders of battle and in particular sources for heraldry for the forces involved? Any help much appreciated
Hi, thanks very much im glad you enjoyed them. The Freezywater book about towton also covers Mortimers cross, it mentions that the Earls of Pembrooke and Wiltshire had about 7 - 8000 men which was a mix of welsh, Irish, french and bretons so there is scope to have some fun with them. I always imagine Jasper having more units of bow and bill and mercenaries than fully armoured men at arms as he spent alot of time in exile amd would drum up support when he came back, inhope that helps a little 👍

I think i addressed this in a video afterwards but basically my opponent and i simply couldn't get the dates to match, i became very busy running my business and unfortunately it just didn't happen. We have every intention of carrying on but there will be another one starting once the current feud linked games we are playing are done 👍
