Thank you for this. My therapist started talking about spirituality after diagnosing me with PTSD. Despite being raised in a strict secular militant atheist household.
You gave me alot of inspiration for an ideal practice: Not just a routine meditation / prayer / ritual, but a time to do all of those plus reflect philosophically and to have a conversation with god / cosmos and self (and both as one). I heard a rabbi say once: You should have every day an equally long conversation with god AND satan (which in jewish sense would mean your evil inclinations). I like that, an altar or temple of meditation (mental gymnastics), reflection and conversation (therapy) and contemplation (philosophy and perspective). Inner / Outer Sanctum
Thank you. This came at a great time, and helps me explore my own spirituality a tiny bit better. It is so easy to get lost in specifics while researching different paths than those I already know, and to lose sight of what drew me towards them in the first place. I love your positive and including take on spirituality and religion that goes farther than mere tolerance, and it calms me down, and takes some of the fears away that keep me from DOING something, instead of just learning about it.
I couldn't agree more with your thoughts of the importance of spirituality. Meaning...and sometimes wonder and awe...is the main benefit of spirituality. Personally, I fear drudgery and meaninglessness much more that I fear death. Feeling connected with all things is what makes life, in the moment, beautiful.
Áine, thank you so much for making this video. Spending my first 22 years with abusive fundamentalist Christians, while also developing a personal connection to spirit/cosmos, my feelings around my spiritual practice can be confusing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings around all this. It felt like you took a few years of my hazy ideas and laid them out with warm words. I hope you have a beautiful day 💛
Spot on! I hope to resonate with spirit greater than I did yesterday, on a daily basis. I'm an artist myself . I resonate with what you say here, thanks for your insights
For me, when I experience a connection with something other than the self, that lets me know I'm still under the delusion that the self actually exists, so I know I'm not there yet. I need to set that aside and keep meditating. 😊
Without spirituality, it's a very mechanical universe. It may be fine for some but I could never look into a person's (or animal's) eyes and think that living beings had a mechanical aspect. Though my own views are largely shaped through science and philosophy, to really understand spirituality, I had to gain a better sense of the human condition and our need for myth or religious experience. I became a big fan of Joseph Campbell's writings for this reason.
Great video! Like you, I am exploring for the sake of finding the unknown. I am not that concerned about finding spirituality, but I am interested in seeing what is out there. I am fascinated by demons/daemons and monsters. I am not that interested in interacting with anything, but that could change if I find something. I sculpt dinosaurs, monsters, and demons, I originally began studying the occult to see if there was anything (demon, spirit, shadow people, angels, djinn etc.) out there. By the way I recommend Llewellyn's Ceremonial Magick to get you started on various belief systems. This book also has excellent references to explore. I actually found a manageable 3 volume text of an interpretation of the Sefer Zohar, the core of Qaballah.
I came here to figure out if I am spiritual person or not- I needed a definition of spirituality because people use the term in a nebulous way all the time. Your idea of alchemetizing experience or emotional states is an interesting take on spiritual PRACTICE, but I'm still left wondering if I am capable of spirituality. You speak about cosmos, existence, and whatever is out there as the focus of this alchemy, but I don't think there's anything "out there" to communicate with or be a part of. Am I therefore not spiritual by definition? I'm fine with it if that's the case, I just need to understand what people mean when they say they are "spiritual" or when they say they have a "spiritual practice."

It's so important in a modern world that's too focused on materialism.

Love to you ❤
I'm so sorry to hear that ❤️❤️ but it's wonderful to hear that my words have been able to have an impact
I love your blending of/appreciation for the pragmatic with the philosophical and mystical elements... all are valid paths.
Thank you! I feel the balancing act is an ongoing journey but so worth it!

I'm so glad it resonated! ❤️

You referred to a TH-cam playlist on creating your own path. I don't see it on your channel, but I may be missing it. Can you direct me to it?
