    I resigned on my 2nd day because the post office manager criticized the way I was driving on a busy main road. I wasn't even given my 2 weeks training. I passed my driving course, and I was sent out on my own on a route with no map. I was hired as an RCA, and promised my own route, and when I arrived at the location in a small town, they said I would only be working a weekend shift, not a full time job. I felt I was discriminated due to my age, and I noticed right after I resigned that another girl was hired younger than me, and given a nice route in the suburbs, not the main street that I was given having to deal with mail delivery with clustered mailboxes for apartments, schools, businesses and post office boxes, etc., and right after I resigned, she was given a full-time route as an RCA, working Monday-Saturday. I don't feel I got a fair hand-shake.
    By the way I have an very good driving history record all my life. Go figure. I didn't find it hard to drive, and was shouted at a mailbox.
    My brother in California, was fired on the 90th day, when he was dedicated, and a hard worker, and had an excellent driving record also.
    We both found better jobs.

    “Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!”
    I get this and realize that this is how I’ve carried myself my whole life. I beat everyone. Not because I’m fast. But, efficient.
    Just did my shadow day. They thought I could be intimidated. Actually, the career accused me of being an undercover boss as, granted, I don’t really fit in to what most would expect a CCA to be.
    Taking the driving test tomorrow. Let’s hit it!

    Another way to get free uniforms is to ask your union steward. Some CCAs simply don't have time to go to the union hall. He/she may have something or can pick things up from the union hall if necessary. Call the union hall and see if you can reserve some items, and let them know you don't have time to drive down there during business hours (they'll certainly believe that). Or the steward can point you to carriers who have extra stuff. I have Li-ion headlamps, shirts, shorts, bomber jackets and sweaters, and even a new pair of postal shoes that I found at Goodwill. They're a little too small for me. That pair of shoes would cost about $150 through allotment.

      No I was let go cause I wasn’t fast enough. These routes were 7 hrs long and you have to deliver every parcel package, it’s insane. I did it in NY for 14 years and the routes are 3 hrs long and the packages over 3 lbs were delivered by a separate parcel post driver. They doing it all wrong here and they don’t realize it. Union needs to step up seriously, these carriers are going to break down in no time. Good luck

      It’s a very demanding job and a stressful one… if you get to pick an area where to work… pick and area you are familiar with … I got to choose two areas that I was unfamiliar with.. I picked the one closer to home and I didn’t knew and kept using my phone to navigate my way around… they say follow the mail but not everyone gets mail and the addresses jump… and the next home might not have an address number or you need to drive down a broken path… pass some trees … yeah there are hidden homes out there… You make your own judgement. There are some crazy looking places lol. I wish you luck… let me know how it goes. Take care out there.

    I know you resigned and everything, but could you please explain your game plan for learning a whole new route? Did you have to ask for maps or turn-by-turn directions? Did you end up using your GPS for the first address and just glance at Google Maps every so often after? How do you do it??? EDIT: Also, how do you make sure you don't bring back some mail???

    • @eddiew2325
      @eddiew2325 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could just toss the leftover mail in a ditch and burn the evidence. Jk

    • @FranticPandaTTv
      @FranticPandaTTv  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For walking routes, just park at the first address and grab a big stack of mail and follow the addresses. You can rubber band a 2nd stack just in case and put into your bag. You just have to follow the mail and do your best ♡♡
      There is supposed to be a sort of manifesto in the case that kind of walks through everything. I wish there were markers when you case that show where each split ends, but that would make too much sense lol

    Southern Indiana? I’m a CCA in Terre Haute. You know the trick about flipping a piece of DPS to remember your SPRs, right?

    • @FranticPandaTTv
      @FranticPandaTTv  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmmm???

    • @woodchuckmarmalade7878
      @woodchuckmarmalade7878 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, if I have SPRs in a relay, I put them in my satchel after fingering through the DPS and flipping the first piece of mail for that address. Then, when I’m walking it, I’ll think, “Why is this backwards?” then I’ll remember to check my bag for the SPR. Even if the SPR address isn’t getting mail, flip the next one in line and as soon as you see it, you’ll remember to check your satchel.

    • @woodchuckmarmalade7878
      @woodchuckmarmalade7878 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn’t sound like a game-changer until you do it.

    • @jeffw1267
      @jeffw1267 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Another good thing to do is to keep all your parcels and SPRs in a single line. I load my parcels into the truck, then I case up the SPRs and tray them, and collate everything when I'm loading up the truck. Flipping the DPS to mark SPRs is in one of the postal handbooks somewhere, but it's not something I do. After six years my memory has improved a lot.
