Another beautiful film, Dan. Love the sepia toned black and white. Both you and Josh gave wonderful, grounded performances. Also love to see a Dan Lotz film in 4:3! I'm a sucker for 4:3, it's such a intimate aspect ratio and seeing you compose in it was lovely.
Thanks it took a lot of heart making it :) consider leaving a review on letterboxd if you have an account. letterboxd.com/film/picking-up-the-pieces-2/
Glad you enjoyed the movie. Yeah the weed scene I felt very real to me. Consider leaving a letterboxd rating or review if you get the chance to help support our little indie film :).
I’ve got a final due midnight, so I’m not sure I’ll be able to watch tonight, but leaving a like and comment for the algorithm! Can’t wait to check this out!
Awesome brother. I feel like this was therapy through storytelling. I love how the color grade and ratio choice reflects the mood and pace. Keep creating because at times it's all we have!
This was really good. I like the color pallette used, feels a bit vintage a tiny bit. Simplistic and nice. The story was told really good too The two brothers feel like brothers I think. Idk if what I'm saying is comprehensible due to having trouble typing usually but I liked this movie
Excellent work in this beautiful film. Love the shots and the sheer top tier effort you put in this. Wonderful performances in here just like in Sheep Theater. Keep making films. This whole entire movement is what inspired me to want to go out and make movies with no money whatsoever. Amazing job all around. Keep succeeding!
This is your best film yet! Really believable and relatable dynamic. Feels like a film that just fell right out of you, in the best way possible. The plant watering scene had me laughing hard. Sorry I ruined your 69 thumbs up by making it 70!
All master shots mostly...is there a creative reason or was it to dwindle down editing and post? I like it. Gives it a fly on the wall or nosey neighbor vibe.
Definitely to make you feel like your eavesdropping. The improv come off more naturally I think when you can watch Both actors fully giving to the performance. Also giving a greater sense of space since the house is a big character in the film.
I made a feature film. To process my feelings. Watch it. Share it. Leave a comment/review. Thanks for all your help!

Thanks Joel for the lovely comment. The Sepia Tone and 4:3 was fun to work with to compose a very unique cinematic space.
Brothers in arms. Love this.

Nicely done, very intriguing between the color, pace, and story.
Glad you enjoyed the film :)
My brother was also disappointed when he found out I smoke weed. Too relatable. Lovely film, y’all.

Incredible performances. The growth over time in acting ability alone is astonishing. Keep up the incredible work, Dan.

The gardening scene has some of the best physical comedy Dan's ever done.
Glad you love that scene!

I'm proud of you, Dan. For picking yourself up, it's a difficult thing to do. Also for cleaning! 🤣I really do enjoy this movie and the sepia tone.

@@The5DollarFilmSchool Probably harder for you than making films! 😂
