This is beyond beautiful, Dan. Exactly what 2023 deserved from you and nothing more. After last year, whatever life throws at you, I'm confident you can handle. Love you, Dan

Glad to see you on the other side of all of a such a terrible year Dan. This movie feels like an extremely personal snapshot of this very specific time in your life, and I am glad you shared it with us.

If your experience is anything like mine, feeling better always takes a lot longer than what's fair. You'll have a good day and think you're finally getting over it and then you start feeling bad again. Just know that it does get better. A lot better. I've been fine for two years now, but it took longer than what was fair. It wasn't fair at all.

I love you man. You are an inspiration for me to make movies. I used to have a dad until i was 17. Since then I have lived in fear. Fear to be judged for doing what i like to do (movies). Your channel has been an inspiration. Thanks for all the films you make

You hit rock bottom in 2023, but now you can only go up from here. You're a stronger person for having been through everything you did, you've learned lessons and experienced the full range of what life contains. Things will feel better with time, keep being you and you'll get to a point where things feel right

Wow, I didn’t expect a surprise feature to start the year with. I hope it was cathartic to make. Last year your movies were one of the biggest inspiration that pushed me to make my own, and I could never thank you enough for that. Have a great 2024 Dan!

Wow, that was pretty darn moving, especially the scene with the Lemon Twigs playing in the background. Sorry you had to go through so much last year - I don't know if many people would have had the strength to come out the other end. Looks like you've got a proper good friend in Joel and I was pleased to see you two together reflecting on what's been a difficult year, but looking more positively to the future at the end. My dad always says to me - we experience the bad times so we know what the good ones feels like, and you say something very similar in this, it's a really important saying and mindset. Tough times don't last, but tough people do. Praying for good things for you this year!

I have no words to describe what I am feeling now, after watching this. I hope that you can fully recover from this and really hope that this year will be great for you and you can do things that you love.
The thought of losing someone you love, that too a parent is scary to me, I love my parents and I don't know what I would do if they pass away. The mere thought makes me... I don't know how to describe it. So again I hope that you'll do well.

I'm sorry to hear about what you went through this year. It kind of explains why you were posting some of the videos you did earlier this year. All I can say to that is I'm glad you're still here with us. And speaking as someone who's lost family, I'm just hoping you get the proper time you need to heal as much as you can. It might be one of those things you deal with until you die. So let yourself grieve while you need to how you need to. It's ok to be sad. You aren't a failure because you're taking this big moment in your life hard. Please be kind to yourself, even if that feels hard.
Love you and here's to a 2024 that sees you living up to who you deserve to be.

Excellently honest, and rushed in the best possible way. I like that lately urgency and speed has been injected into the documentary genre where it traditionally has never been before. Usually a documentary would eat up years of your life. Now someone can make a documentary in a day. There's a punk rock-ness emerging as a result. Documentaries that don't seek to perfectly inform (like something a teacher could throw on in a classroom) but that seek to capture a feeling, a fleeting chapter in life, before it goes away and is just a vague memory. There's always been documentaries like that, here and there, but even those were bogged down by so much work, shooting-wise or editing-wise. Much as we are seeing film itself be freed from its shackles, we are seeing documentaries be freed too. Here's to 2024 and beyond.

To 2024! Glad you dig the speedy documentary style! I loved it in one star just as much!
