  • Chevrolet introduced the 6th generation in its line of Bel Airs in 1965. It had a different style than its previous generation, with a wheelbase that was increased to 5420 mm (213.3 inches). The general features of the wheelbase were not altered, but the new models came with a new grille having a lower extension under the bumper in a V shape.

I have a 65 2-door Bel Air, sadly in need of total restoration.. It's been in the family since new. My great-grandfather bought it new from Graff Chevrolet, Grand Prairie, Tx.. I got it in 1975, at 15 yrs old and have had it ever since.. Just wished I had the $$$ to restore it to a nice drivable condition.

Thanks for the info. on the 69's; I didn't know that was the last year for the 2 door in a Bel Air trim, & as a wagon. I did own a 65 Bel Air wagon at one time with a 283; With a optional overdrive automatic.

Don't forget that chevrolet made a Belair Sport coupe in 1970. I think in Canada.

In 1970's Canadian Bel Airs, were avalable as a Sport Coupe.

The Bel Air in Canada, was also called a Pontiac Laurentian and wasn't a wide tracking Catalina.

In 1970, you had to order the 400 c.i.d to get a THM 350 three speed automatic.

Were back up lights an option on the Bel Air?
