Scindapsus treubii 'Moonlight' Houseplant Care - 324 of 365

  • I originally highlighted the dark form of this plant earlier in the "365 Days of Plants" days. Strangely enough, seeing this grow in the wild, it tends to get darker and thinner in form as it climbs up trees. Whatever the case, this different form hails #324 in "365 Days of Plants".
    In this video I'll discuss where it is originally native to, where I'm growing it in my home, and basics like light, watering and fertilizing.
    You can check out more of these videos here and on my IGTV @homesteadbrooklyn.
    Featured plant:

      Lol I’ve just starting doing that😀 I love how she has such a wide variety of plants and gives her own personal experiences. Coincidental I’m actually looking for a plant that I can put near a window during the winter. I’m glad she mentioned that little bit of insight. 🪴 I was actually looking to see if I can get away with this not having too much light (which I actually missed because I’ve been typing lol) but instead it’s going up against my window😀

    Great vid, Summer. When I purchased mine it unfortunately had root rot but wasn't showing any signs on its leaves until a few days later after getting it home. It's been a battle, but I managed to save 4-5 leaves and they've all rooted and have started growing (very, very slowly - lol).

    The moonlight is a bit more silvery when it is mature, as a juvenile it looks almost exactly like a regular scindapsis truebii, I’ve heard the plants leaves get larger if you allow it to climb something, so far i have only one and it’s really enjoying going up its DIY pole I created with coat hangers 😂

    • @rubyrose49
      @rubyrose49 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@xyz-pg3zd The silver coloration on the middle of the plant is like a watercolor painted on. It is satin and not sparkly just like the rest of the entire plant. The leaves are not velvety like the more popular scindapasus like exotica or argyraeus. The leaves are thick and smooth. It's quite stunning. I also have the black or dark form one and that one is really nice too. Both were my on my wishlist for a long time lol

    This is one of my favorite plants here at home. But it is a SUPER SLOW grower. I´ve had mine for almost a year and it´s still the same size 😂 I also have a question for you Summer. I was wondering what the difference between Scindapsus Pictus Exotica and Scindapsus Pictus Trebie is? I got the Trebie yesterday and it looks the same as the Exotica. The only difference is that the leaves are twice as large as the Exotica.

    • @rubyrose49
      @rubyrose49 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the treubii moonlight and dark form and several other scindapsus like the exotica, argyraeus and silvery ann. The leaves are completely different. Your exotica should have leathery leaves whereas the treubii moonlight should have smooth leaves. The exotica will have leaves that sparkle like silver but the moonlight looks like the lighter colour is embedded in the leaves itself and it’s lighter centre does not shine or sparkle.

    • @Dixiwonderlandyoutube

    • @RandomRob3000
      @RandomRob3000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just got mine from Walmart as well. I basically treat WM plants as 'rescues' so I repot immediately into appropriate soil (that stuff Costa Farms uses is far from ideal). And I take the plastic pot out of the non-draining ceramic pot that CF uses for their 'Trending Tropicals' since that also causes overwatering/waterlogging issues.
