@@dsesuk Oddly, I found the manor house series some of the most interesting, most videos from sparkies on here are just doing the same old same old in regular houses/flats or fitting bloody EV chargers, the different stuff you have had going on on this job has been something new and different. Sunday morning with a nice cuppa and this very entertaining video. Thoroughly enjoyed and entertained and appreciative of the work done on this magnificent house. In Australia, we do not use ring circuits, everything is a radial and they are all 16/20Amp circuits, even for kitchens, and we don't have issues. My kitchen has a single 16Amp and I've never had issues with it tripping out. I don't really understand the British obsession with 32Amp ring circuits. They just seem to be more trouble than they are worth with very little benefit.
i dont understand why the IET class a hand basin as outside of prescribed zones, they pose the same, if not higher risk of water splashing than a bath.
I’ve recently done a job where they had that dirty look splash back, I actually thought it was dirty from the fitters and was cursing them for not wiping it down 😂 not sure if I do or don’t like it
Could you put the kitchenette on a 25A? I know it’s nearing the CCC of the cable and obviously subject to derating factors, kindly tell me to piss off and mind my own but didn’t know if it was an option…
Warm white lights! Try Green mini bezel recessed lights which i found recently installed in a housing association kitchen in the plinths and under the wall units all plugged into a socket which was spurred off in 1.0mm flex from a nearby existing socket.
Love your videos.. That socket over the draining board of the sink is a bit naughty. Must be a right pain though to be running cables in such an old place...
I suppose that one is a bit misplaced with hindsight. Still, there's nothing in BS7671 about sockets and sinks (although the Electrician's Guide to the Building Regulations might raise an eyebrow).
As far as toilet/bathroom pull switches are concerned - I evades my why there is not a low very low voltage standard size switch that could energise a device up in the ceiling that carrier the 230 or LV voltage to the lights. Are you aware of any such device. Did you re-measure 3mts from the new bath as it now seems to project further into the room that the shower used to ? Did I see Nige "get the horn" when he was messing with the pendant light. There is something strangely magical about watching an old place being brought up-to-date over an elapsed period of time.
