For this price I assume that there is very little quality control. Some are probably great and some not so much. I am cheap too...
Just bought the "Pebble blue" model from Amazon, coming in next few days. 15% coupon got it for $204. Got tired of waiting for the Epiphone Dave Grohl model which they will probably charge too much for anyway as an Epiphone. Looking forward to playing it and seeing for myself.

The real reason there are cheap guitars are for beginners like me. Not everyone can afford expensive guitars. For me, I like that $200 guitar, nice clean sound, nice color too. And you're right, "not bad at all. You can change the pickups anytime for upgrade.
It reminds me of my FireFly semi-Hollow, its Translucent Green w/Humbuckers, $159. I got it last May, Amazon no longer sells them! The are sweet like this one with a bone nut too.
I still swear by my Firefly ES 335 copy. I paid a bit more than the original Amazon retail price simply because I had been done dirty by Amazon when I had clearly caught one of their yearly runs. But through the power of manifestation, voodoo, and the ever present desire to possess one, I ended up getting mine from a pawn shop without havin' to bend over. The build, set up, and quality of this guitar is not to be believed. I would stack it up against any Epi, Grote, or other copies at any price. And it's all mine.
Nice!! I believe it! I love this West Creek the more I play it. I'll probably change the tuners someday, but they're not that bad, especially for the price. Plus l, I've got a pink West Creek LP Jr copy in my sights. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I have heard so many good things about the Firefly that I really wanted one also. I could never find one available when I had any money to get one (fixed disability income sucks 😡😆). Four years into my quest, I happened to come into some money from an old retirement account that matured and decided to check on availability. Amazon as usual was "out of stock" so I went to the main outlet page. Lo and behold they had just refilled their inventory! I was even able to get the color I wanted. The moral of the story (aka TLDR) is that all of my other guitars have become jealous because my Firefly has become my primary player and I love the sound, feel, and playability for $200. Sometimes patience does work (not often but sometimes).
Nice guitar! Sounds very good. So many well executed guitars today. I have the Firefly 338 that is of course another excellent example. No issues, just plug and grin. 55+ plus years playing for me. Lots of gear. Lost my appetite for brands many years ago. Hey, let's see a video with your doggy hamming it up... Thanks!
🤣 My dog would love that! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment! I have Firefly in my "List". I got the Redid I was talking about. It should be here today. I appreciate you watching!
When I see the front strap button in the middle, I wonder. Will the guitar do a neck dive all the time, like a Gibson SG? Front strap buttons on the top cut away horn do not have this problem of neck diving.
Good presentation, amazing they can make a playable guitar for that little bit of money. I paid almost that much for a pair of aftermarket pickups. I guess those pickups could use a soak in a pan of wax. Thanks for your demo.
Yes, the pickups could use that. It is amazing that a guitar is this nice for $180. I will probably change the tuners, but honestly, they're not that bad. I got that Redid guitar I mentioned in the video coming today for $149. We'll see if that's as good. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate you!
Bought me a Eart "T-style" guitar a month ago on Amazon. Beautiful cherry red. Could use American pickups and wiring...otherwise totally happy with it. Fender is the one that should copy Earts's design !!
I would, yes. I had one guy comment that he does gig with it. The guitar stays in tune well and I was able to correct the intonation with normal saddle adjustments. I like the way it sounds. Whether it will hold up for many years, who knows, but I paid $180.
The real test is Time! I've seen these asian guitars start falling apart and twisting like party balloons in a few months! But, it looks & sounds great! These days they want $200 to ship it across the globe!

I'm picky about semi-Hollows, but good deal! I recently bought another cheap guitar- my favorite SX model- It's a Liquid- kinda like a Jazzmaster meets a Thunderbird. For about the same price as yours, they're worth checking out. ( this is my second one, so you know I really do like 'em.) Oh, for my semi-Hollow, I've got a Puresalem Gordo ( looks like an old Kent 820) But I have been eyeing the Grote "335" copy, so maybe....
Thanks for the comment! I have some Grote's saved in my List. Amazon also has these ivy's I just saw pop-up; they look pretty cool and cheap. It's amazing how far cheap guitars have come.
I've played several Epiphones and believe me, I'm not a Gibson/Epiphone basher, but if an Epiphone ES-335 was the same price, I'd buy the West Creek. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
They're sold out right now. Redid has a semi-hollow I bought for $159, 19 in stock right now. I haven't played it yet, saving it for a video coming up. Thank you for the comment and for watching!
I already have 2 green Firefly 338's, but if this one ever shows up again, I would get it even for the frets alone. Stainless steel jumbo frets with polished round ends is a game changer for me! This beats Firefly hands down.
This has a bone nut and rounded fret ends. It says stainless steel on "string type". I don't if they meant to put it there, thinking it was for the frets OR they were being a but tricksy. I mention the bone nut because I mention it in the video and it is unusual at this price point.
Same, you can not beat it for the price. I've never been so happy with a sub two hundred dollar guitar that plays and feels like a whole lot more. Great guitars for modifying too. If they keep putting out quality products, those prices may end up moving upwards.
That guitar sounds really good to me, I'd definitely go for one. Nice honest review too, give us a good idea of what to expect if we buy one, and for $200 how can it be knocked?
Thanks so much. Yes, I try to make it as close to what people can expect. I don't MIX the sound in post recording. It's guitar to amp to mics. I use Audacity free DAW, believe it or not. I have other DAW's, but I'm just capturing the sound direct from the amp and no mix, so why bother with anything fancy. Too many reviews mix,EQ the snot out of their recording and you can't possibly recreate that. Thanks for your comment and for watching!!
I see they sold 9 of these on Amazon before somebody said, 'ARE YOU CRAZY'! good score. I have collected many guitar/uke style (about 30 inch size) from Amazon. I enjoy that scale and also found the tool to sand down the bridge for better intonation. Caramel makes my favorite mini 6 string which they claim is ebony wood. One thing I noticed about my mini bass (made of bamboo) -it's only plays in tune during high humidity.
I like your review of the West Creek, have you had a chance to review the Donner DJP-1000? I was impressed by the reviews of the Donner as I was of your review of the West Creek the only thing I didn't like was the "Mic effect" of the pickups when amp was cooking. So yes the Donner is more but with my discount that I can use were only talking 10.00 difference. This is the part I hate after seeing both reviews what I wouldn't give to have 2 minutes playing each of them then there would be no doubt. Thanks for your review you covered what players need to know!
Love that guitar! Sounds great, too! I've got a green Epiphone ES-335 on my wish list. Just goes to show it's not necessarily what you have; if you know how to play it, it'll sound awesome. An expensive guitar can sound like crap or a cheapy can sound like a rock star. And you made it sound like a rock star! Rock on right back at ya! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hey Brother, it's seems like a pretty good ax there. Thanks for the review. If you ever want to get rid of it, I would gladly take it. It's a shame that I am just a poor old musician 😔 But I would take good care of it and definitely appreciate it!!! I have a dream ✨️
Got a Telya I just spent $800 cash for a nice hollow body here in the guitar shop in town and when I saw this ad I couldn’t believe it so I spent $200 and got this guitar is $200 guitar beats my $800 guitar by a long shot it is a nice guitar from the pearl in lays to the great sound it’s just a good guitar $200 amazing price
I got one of these. It's buzzy and needed a setup. The truss rod relief was very finicky and I still can't say I've got it right! I'll probably change the tuners and get a new roller bridge and maybe a vibrola tailpiece. So, a $200 guitar will become about a $450 guitar. Finish has some boo-boos, but it's still very attractive. Not a great guitar, but fun to have an ES-335 type that didn't break the bank.
Looking forward to the video. The neck "Looks" really nice except for the poly, love too see the spec. Remember the 335, Gibson wasn’t Gibson overnight, and neither was the 335, if the guitar & it’s company hold up; Well then.
Thanks for the review. I've got solid bodies coming out my ears so this semi-hollow is the ticket for me because of those beautiful overtones... the feedback can be a benefit if used like Uncle Ted, just at the right time
@@gearmeister 😃 Thank you! I try to keep the demos as closed to a room sound as can be done when uploading to TH-cam. And, my words are my own, especially since it's my money.
They are very similar. The Redid has a slightly beefier neck, but not baseball-bat-like. It's more like a U shaped Telecaster. The frets on the Westcreek are better. Other than that I like them equally. They are great guitars for the money. Thanks so much for watching and commenting on the videos!
Oh jeez. I just bought a Redid RD-100 for $159. It's coming tomorrow. There were 19 red ones, I think I got the last orange one. Firefly and Grote are ones that look similar as well. Thanks so much for watching and your comment! I appreciate you taking the time to do so!

Yes! The more I play this, the more I love it! It's hard to believe what can be had these days for the money. I know not all cheap guitars are good, there are some bad ones, but I really feel the good outweigh the bad. I ordered that Redid one I talked about on the video. I'm going to compare them. The redid was $159, stay tuned! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@MotorRoseMusicThe Sam Ash near me has a used one of these, so I will go over and play it. Won't buy it, because they're asking more than the price for a new on on Amazon.

Mostly I was just kidding. I watch Darrell Braun, Rhett Schull and a few others and they let one fly now and again. I'm in South America, so I don't have much else to do.
And, they are pretty good for the price. They stay in tune fairly well. You need to work on them such as filing frets. I actually cut my fingers! You need to lower the bridge too, but that's about it.
Yes! I saw those too. They look pretty good. I got a Redid the other day and will do a video on it. The frets are sharp on it as well. The West Creek frets are very well done.
Yes! I had a Firefly in my view. I just ordered the Redid for $159 I talked about in the video. It should be here Friday. I will probably do a separate video and then A/B them in another. The more I play West Creek, the more I love it. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate you!
Yes, it does. Great guitar. The orange Redid I have does too. Hard to believe I paid what I did. Not all the cheap guitars I've tried were winners, but this one is. Thanks for the question and for watching! I appreciate it!
Where these cheap guitars fail, is setup and intonation. You have to check if it can be intonated properly up the neck AND that the truss rod can be adjusted, and if so, both directions.
@@MotorRoseMusic No question, but specially these uber budget guitars. I mention it because you didn't in video. Might want to add that, checking truss rod, whether it can be intonated in future renditions. Seen too many cheapest guitars with the bridge placed wrong so that guitar can't be intonated properly.
Check out firefly. Purchased a Les paul black beauty triple gold pickups. With shipping and handling I spent a total of 226 dollars. The guitar was 189. It came within a week. Pleasantly surprised to say the least. The way it plays and feels is not that of a sub two hundred dollar guitar. You got to try one or a 338.
I think you should reevaluate your camera angles my friend... Back away so we can see you playing the guitars... Great review... And good information.. thanks sir
Thanks for watching and commenting! I appreciate you saying something. Yes, I am working on the camera angles. It's a new camera, Nikon Z30. I am experimenting with different lenses I have. Again, thank you for your input and watching!!
Well, there was limited information on Amazon. I did see the fingerboard radius is 14", according to the seller. The neck is a medium "C" profile. Not chunky or thin. 24 3/4" scale. Weight is light. I would say mine is 7 lbs, give or take an oz. Thanks for your question and for watching the video! I appreciate you!
I love your TH-cam handle! Truer words have never been spoken! Are you referring to my guitar face? 🤣 Something like this? 🤢 or this 😳 It's a look of "damn, I should've rehearsed something!"
No problem. I'm not for everyone. Search for a demo that says, "No talking. All playing." Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! It helps my channel. Comments really boost the TH-cam algorithm! Thank you, sincerely.
I think if I got a hold of a cheap guitar the first thing I would do is check the fret level, the tuning pegs, verify the fret ends, and on stainless steel guitars check with the frets are out of the sockets. I have things to do, So unfortunately I can't just waste my time on this review.
Trying not to look like a hater (even maybe the clickbait of the thumbnail offended me xDD) You can't compare this guitar to a real Gibson 335. Yes, they are +2000$ (even +3000$) more expensive because they use nitro laquer, wood are first class one, fretwork is perfectly done, feeling and even what the guitar feedbacks to you... It's just perfect. Said that, i see even the stoptail is angled to the neck so it will never stay fine in tune, will break strings and the vibrations will never gonna be optimal. There are many other options, maybe less visual, but more playable :/. Sorry.
First, thank you for watching and taking the time to write a long comment. I appreciate you taking that time. Sorry about the thumbnail, but that's the way it goes. All of the things you listed for the Gibsons do not make it $2-3000 better than this budget guitar. What does is the name. The name has tremendous value. Believe me I LOVE Gibson. I have 2! A Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Gibson G-00 acoustic. However, my video is pointing out that you can get a real, quality semi-hollow electric guitar for around $200. Does it have the appointments of the Gibson? No. But, it does have quality wood - yes maple is quality- and good build quality. The fret work on the West Creek is amazing! The guitar stay in tune as good as any I have. I have the Gibsons and 2 American Strats, a Martin Dreadnought, and a few Squires. I don't think I'll have an issue with string breakage. I play pretty hard and it's not been an issue yet. With all this said, I know this guitar will not be worth much in 20 years, that's not the point. The point is, for $200 I got a really good guitar delivered to my door in 2 days! We got it pretty good as far as guitars right now.
@@MotorRoseMusic Good morning mate! well, things have the price you give to them... And since I'm not quite a Gibson defender (i tryed A LOT of Gibson LPs and finally bought a Japanese Tokai) I'm looking for a guitar that in 20 years is a better guitar... I'm a player, not a collector or a dealer. This being said, i don't have too much faith in those guitars because maybe yours is ok, but mine maybe is a mess. It happens with big trademarks, imagine with that one, that is trying to earn costs to make it cheap. As a novice, i would go for Squire, Epiphone, even Harley Benton... (this one is also risky, but make really great guitars.) And as an extra advice, i would try it to have fixed bridge to keep better in tune. cheers!
Exactly! The tuners are OK, at best. I set the intonation, it was pretty off when I tested the guitar. A month later and I still love it. I play the crap out of it and the Redid semi-hollow I did the video on last week.
I searched Amazon and can't seem to find this brand. Is there a link? I recently got two really nice Redid 335's which together cost a fraction of what a Gibson would cost.
They are currently unavailable. They come and go. Here is a link you can save to a list and check back on it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! a.co/d/gDfZy6F
@@MotorRoseMusic Thank you kindly for getting back to me with that link. I seem to be addicted to cheap guitars that are worth much more! Thanks to reviews by Darrell Braun and Guitar Max and others, I now have many more of these 335's than I could ever need lol. But this one you reviewed is not only gorgeous, but those ball-ended frets were what really got me. I could never understand why that isn't a standard feature on all guitars! For a small increase in price from the Fireflys and the Redids, this is more than worth it. I just wish they offered more colors and a cheap gig bag, because I already have these colors. I'll get rid of the green Firefly to make room for this one! I'll also be sure to mention your video! Thanks again!
@@MotorRoseMusic I got an Epiphone Les Paul custom on sale from Sweetwater for around $600. It's the most expensive guitar I own. The Gibson counterpart looks and sounds exactly the same to me, yet it costs $5,500 the last time I checked. That's more than all my guitars combined. I would be constantly worried about bumping or scratching it, so I'd probably never play it. Yet it's the budget guitars that are now featuring rounded fret ends!
Yes, they sold out. I don't think I am fully to blame. 🤷 There's a brand called Redid that I bought. Doing a video soon. I don't know if it's as good. It looks great, I took a quick peek to make sure it wasn't busted, so I can't tell you if I'd recommend it. They currently have 19 left and it's been at that number for days. But I digress. 🤣 I did a video on a distortion pedal and it sold out and then came back in a few days so keep an out, the West Creek is worth it! I love the thing more.
@@Pokyhawk Word!
My FFS338 is supposed to arrive Friday. Anxious to try it. I think it was $189.00
Nice!! I just finished a video on my Redid RD-100 - $159. I will upload it in a day or 2.
Well.... you could have a Gibson 335..... or 12 of these guitars in various colors.
😂
Very Cool Thankyou. Awesome sound. I have an Artist Guitars Cherry 58 335 copy, SO much fun to play.
Nice! I'll have to check those out. I just got a Redid from Amazon, the one I talked about. I will do a video of that soon.

That is excellent! I wish you well with it and hope you enjoy it. Such a beautiful looking guitar and a pretty good review

nice color too!
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching!
This guitar didn't have that issue of neck dive, but I do have a strap with grippy material underneath it.
Thanks for your comment and for watching the video!
@Motor Rose Music I had a built in aversion to guitars made overseas but the Eart isn't half bad !! Now looking for an ES339 copy.
Yeah, me too, but it's unavoidable and the "buy only American" ship has sailed long ago.
Thanks for a great demonstration. But, would you show up to a gig with it?
I would, yes. I had one guy comment that he does gig with it. The guitar stays in tune well and I was able to correct the intonation with normal saddle adjustments. I like the way it sounds. Whether it will hold up for many years, who knows, but I paid $180.
The real test is Time! I've seen these asian guitars start falling apart and twisting like party balloons in a few months! But, it looks & sounds great! These days they want $200 to ship it across the globe!
You are correct. Time will tell for sure!
I was fortunate enough to get a red Firefly 338 for $150 and I love it.
Nice! I've heard good things about them.
Suprising! Thanks for the video
Yes, I was shocked! Truly a good guitar. I hope they get more in stock. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@MotorRoseMusic people frequently ask me about quality cheap guitars.. Happy to have this info

I found it under hot new deals
Any idea of comparison between this one and Epiphone ES-335 ?
Thx for the video, it's simple and straightforward !
I've played several Epiphones and believe me, I'm not a Gibson/Epiphone basher, but if an Epiphone ES-335 was the same price, I'd buy the West Creek.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
great vid & great guitar for $200. thanks for demo, sounded really good with the first clean strums. Full tone, nice ! Im looking
Sounds amazing for the price
Yes, amazing what you can get. I got the Redid I spoke of. I will do a video on it soon. $159.

I've had my Firefly 338 for over a year, still think it's great for $140.00
Awesome! Glad to hear it! I'm eyeing up some of those!
Same, you can not beat it for the price. I've never been so happy with a sub two hundred dollar guitar that plays and feels like a whole lot more. Great guitars for modifying too. If they keep putting out quality products, those prices may end up moving upwards.
@@MotorRoseMusic nice find man! And absolutely check out firefly. I dont think you'll be disappointed.

Where on Amazon? Almost $900 LINK PLS!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the info!
I have not tried it. I will search for that one! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave a great comment!

Love that guitar! Sounds great, too! I've got a green Epiphone ES-335 on my wish list. Just goes to show it's not necessarily what you have; if you know how to play it, it'll sound awesome. Glad to hear that! I was shocked too. Truly amazing for the price. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment! I appreciate all who do.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🤘
Looking forward to the video. The neck "Looks" really nice except for the poly, love too see the spec. Remember the 335, Gibson wasn’t Gibson overnight, and neither was the 335, if the guitar & it’s company hold up; Well then.

Do you use a Sure SM 57 mic?
Yes, I do. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Where these cheap guitars fail, is setup and intonation. You have to check if it can be intonated properly up the neck AND that the truss rod can be adjusted, and if so, both directions.
You need to check this on all guitars. I had to pass up on one Fender P Bass for another because of a truss rod problem.
And fret finishing, don't forget fret finishing!

I have things to do, So unfortunately I can't just waste my time on this review.
Uh, ok. Thanks for this insightful comment. 🤘🙄
(this one is also risky, but make really great guitars.) And as an extra advice, i would try it to have fixed bridge to keep better in tune. cheers!
OK.

You are so welcome. When I bought this guitar I had no clue about it. When I saw the frets, I was thinking, shit my Strat doesn't do this!!
