    Didn’t lube slide pins or bolts, replace old hardware included in most brake kits, clean new rotors to remove rust prevention compound installed during manufacturing, or removing the cap from master cylinder to prevent blowing out brake seals in line and master cylinder. Always remove cap from master cylinder when compressing brake caliper pistons, this is ESPECIALLY important in an OLDER vehicle. Other then that, this video was spot on! I’m all about details and less squeaking! These brakes will definitely SQUEAK!

      Thank you for your feedback! The brakes replacement complicacy and sequence are particular depending on car technical features and status. We make car parts replacement following the recommendations by the car manufacturers, however , our videos are just informative, rather then tutorial. We always recommend to contact Car Specialized Centers for correct maintenance. Best regards, Autodoc.

    Thanks for a nice, clear, video. I'd suggest that the tightening torques are added. Also I note those pads come with shims but do you find it totally unnecessary to add a few smears of anti-seize/anti-squeal grease in the usual places?

      Thank you for the feedback! You are right, it should be done while the actual repair.This video is considered to be an informative one, and it shows the sequence of repairs,so some stages of the repairs might have been excluded. Best regards, Autodoc.

      Thanks, I did the same job last weekend on my wife's Jazz/Fit, and used thin smears of copper grease in all the usual places. The pads I bought also came with new shims already fitted, but I removed those to smear a little copper grease on the rear of the pads before refitting the shims. Last time I did the job I removed both caliper pins but that was necessary as I also replaced the discs (US=rotors); this time it was just the pads so only removed the bottom pins and rotated the calipers upwards on the upper pins.
      BTW, the torque settings are as follows: Front caliper guide pin bolts, 22Nm/16 ibf/ft (front), calliper mounting bracket bolts, 108Nm/80 lbf/ft, and rear caliper guide pin bolts, 23Nm/17lbf/ft, mounting bracket bolts, 55Nm/41 lbf/ft. All wheel nuts should be tightened to 108Nm/ 80lbf/ft.
      Not really needed, as just "hand tight" is sufficient, but the retaining screws for the front and rear discs are specified to 10Nm/7 lbf/ft and the same settings are used for the ABS wheel sensor retaining bolts.

    My brakes were squealing. I've just (June 2022) paid the Honda garage £90 (113 US Dollars) to take off one front wheel and tell me that the brake pads are fine but the squealing that I hear is a bit of a build up of metal dust, (off the disc,) on the pads, they just want resurfacing, (cleaning.) So it begs the question, if I had my life again should I come back as a dentist or a mechanic??££$$!!

    Good video but diy'ers loosen brake fluid reservoir under bonnet/hoodelse hard winding piston back also check fluid level so it doesn't go above max or spill . I use large cheep g clamp and wood shim to push caliper back which forces piston. I always undo bleed nipple to drain off and then top-up fluid. Get to see state of fluid and replace. Should bleed after.

    Don't bother replacing the 2 screws that hold the discs on there only function was during vehicle assembly as it moved down the production line until the wheels were fitted

    And unless you want your tire to be bent do not screw in all the bolts on the wheels one by one, do them little by little and in an X motion

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, if you look closely at the moment 5.53, you can see that the mechanic tightened all the bolts by hand, then began to tighten them from the pistol in an X-shaped pattern.

    Don't use a philips, use a correct Japanese industry standard screwdriver or bit, preferably in an impact screwdriver. Youll just destroy the screws otherwise.
