    Ok, I know you're all rushing to try and correct me and I know I do a very fast segue but:
    I don't say electrons flow positive to negative, i say *electric current* flows positive to negative, which it does. Models are set up using an old convention which uses the flow of positive charge, not negative charge.
    So, conventional current flows positive to negative.
    Electrons flow negative to positive.

      @ZwergofPhoenix 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Chain Bear F1 very good on explaining this but also you can't use the left hand rule because you need the movement of negative charge (you let the positive current move), you need the right hand rule to get the direction of forces then. Turns out to be the exact opposite.

    • @chainbear
      @chainbear  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      it's not convention

      u envesize the fact that the generator slows the wheels down but not that it stors that energy in the battary.if u can envesize that u store the energy and release it later it will make more sense.so it looks like a brake and not a re-gen system.

      NOPE its important cause its used in an mguk system in a fucking f1 car

      To me it's not that the learning of it is bad, i like learning new stuff, It's more that it counts to exams and you are judged on them even if aren't going to use it in whatever career you want to go to. I always hated how failing something as hard or complicated means you cannot progress with school for that.

      The rote education is the problem, not the knowledge. When you have great teachers that changes. But when a society values it money lenders and spin doctors more than its teachers, you know where it is headed!

    May I ask for part 2? I'm not sure if there's much information about this out there, but I'd like to see a simple explanation of the differences in this system between teams. Or atleast about the rules and restrictions to these kinds of systems; what COULD be done if the rules weren't as strict etc.. Also, how much does a system like this weigh and how much of a benefit does it give when compared to car without this system (that would therefore obviously be lighter)
    Thanks for all the work you do! Back in the day I asked for more in depth videos, and boy have you delivered! Also, love the fact that you are able to put out such great vids so regularly. Definetly my favourite F1 channel ;)

    That's a great explanation of how the MGU-K works, simple enough to easily understand the idea behind it and at the same time quite informative on the basic principles that make this whole system work.
    I have a question, though:
    Since the wheels connected to the crankshaft via transmission, does it mean that MGU-K can't be used to "directly" accelerate the car and only helps to reduce the amount of force/torque required from the engine to spin wheels faster, allowing engine to rev up faster (with the additional benefits of lesser wear and fuel consumption)?
    Thanks in advance!

    You should add that it’s possible to vary how difficult it is to spin the motor by telling it much energy you want it to take to electrical energy. Hence why you can also vary your braking power with electric generators.
    And, a crucial part (especially after what happened to Ricciardo) that if the circuit is not complete (i.e broken mguk/battery/connections) you can’t use the mguk to brake, since there’s no where for the energy to go. Apparently goes the same if your battery is full since there’s nowhere for the electricity to go.

      Well I try and keep it 2D for the most part - partly cause it's an easier visualisation and partly cause I'm still learning the ropes with 3D. I'll use 3D sparingly when it's needed, I think. Here it was necessary because there were 3 dimensions at play but thankfully I could figure out a simple animation!
