I was blessed to go on tour with Father, Peter Velasco (the president of the Franciscan society in the holy land). We had mass at 5 o’clock in the morning in the tomb. I was Methodist at the time I came back home and joined the Catholic church. That’s how much it changed me.

Thank you for interesting show. Very entertaining, interesting, teaching about our Catholic religion. I've been longing to go out to the Holy land. I just learned from someone in my church about the journey coming up in May 2024. I am a retired USA citizen & will try to get more information from my church group attending this journey next year. I would love to visit, find a way to join if it'd still available to start packing like Father Richard. I hope to meet anyone of you God willing. I would invite my 43 yr old Son to join for conversion. He's been a practicing Catholic in need for suffering to get closer to Jesus's footstep. We both need this journey as we are suffering & impoverished. Prayers may this pilgrimage happen for us. I'd appreciate your assistance & information as it seems Longshot to make it out there a I'm on retirement & disability limited income & my unmarried Son suffers from mental issues,he does odd jobs as shrimping for self-sustaining & expenses. 🙇 🙏 📿 ❤. Wow. great channel. Im in process of making a complete 360. Raised catholic > agnostic atheist > researched faith/atheist dialogue>spirtual experience>christian>catholic over the course of 53 years.
Grace be to God, brother. Been there, done that for a decade. Our faith becomes so much fuller when you get back into it, as I'm sure you know. From one prodigal son to another, God bless!
Seen a lot of these. I still think Fatima Shrine in Portugal is the best place to go if you're thinking of a place for meditation. One reason is, the place is not known for tourists but purely a pilgrims' destination.
Lourdes is equally good. Say a decade of Rosary at the Grotto where Mary appeared to St. Bernadette. Her uncorrupted body is kept in a glass cage in one of the cities of France, but not in Lourdes.
Very interesting video. I was blessed to visit all the places in Holy Land with my wife. Now I started praying that both of us will travel to Lourdes, Garabandal and Fatima. I hope to make a twenty day trip soon once this pandemic ceases. God never fails His child who ask Him for anything. Greetings from Bangalore. India
If you're young enough and strong enough, I want to suggest that you volunteer in Lourdes. This will make your visit there more meaningful and fulfilling. I had the privilege of volunteering there four times, each time brought some really memorable experiences. When you visit as a pilgrim, you receive many graces, but when you go as a volunteer, you not only receive many graces, you also become a conduit for the graces that you will bring to those you serve. Our Lady needs you.
@@jess.e Thank you very much Jess. Very nice of you to inform me about this. But How do I go about volunteering, is there any number of days and what is required It will be a great humbling and blessed experience. Yes you are very blessed to have that experience. Thanks a lot Jess. God bless you.
Thank you guys for being there for me, I feel like things are dramatically changing for me while I am starting in on my return to the church, I continue to glean so much from this good work and camaraderie.
I was fortunate to go to Santiago de Campostela in Spain; amazing Church where St James was buried.. also went to Holy Land last April and touched the Holy Sepulchre.. can’t described the feeling because it is so different from all the pilgrimages I went to-went to places where Jesus walked from Capernaum, the Sea of Galilee, Mt Tabor, Gethsemanee, the Via Dolorosa ending our day at the Holy Sepulchre where we had mass, I have also been/seen the Church made with bones .. In September, my friends and I will go to a pilgrimage in France- Lourdes, Notre Dame, Mont St Michel, etc
Am saddened to hear of your loss. Praying for you and your family to all be healthy and blessed by God, through His Son Jesus Christ. In Jesus name. Amen God bless
So happy to visit there on2017. We had a pilgrimage from the Caribbean, St Lucia. Also went to Fatima and Lourdes. It was fantastic. An experience to behold.
One of the most peaceful churches and beautiful that I’ve been to is in Montreal, Canada - the Cathedral- the wooden carpentry, etc. We went back and attended mass there. It was celebrated in French and the priest translated some parts into English, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese - it was beautiful
Camino SDQ!! :) Met pilgrims in 2011 as a side trip before the World Youth Day in Madrid. Found myself drawn to go with hiking buddies to celebrate our birthdays. Dream came true in 2019. What a blessing!
@@jnbrasileira Thank you Dr Jeannie. Im praying this pandemic will dissappear and things will be normal soon. Then maybe we could visit the various shrines. Bye and God bless
If you go to France, I highly recommend Lourdes, Chartres Cathedral, Notre Dame (From the outside in the meantime), and St. Bernadette’s tomb. I haven’t checked out Mont St. Michel in Normandy on the island yet but it seems magnificent.

Father your experience was very different from mine at the Holy Sepulchre. We were one of the first groups into the tomb in the morning, having said the first Mass with the Franciscans there. They rushed us in and out, there was no time to meditate or contemplate. Same with Church of the Nativity, we felt like cattle being herded
It is very sad to go on a pilgrimage and be rushed around like cattle.. I went not actually understanding what a blessing the pilgrimage could be.. a serious explorer should look into who is promoting the pilgrimage and make a serious study of different organizations.

Just found your show and have shared it with my grown up family. My husband and I were blessed with a priest friend who loved to travel . He took groups to many of the holy places you have mentioned. Thank God we got to go along ! Such wonderful memories at 90 to reflect on!
It’s more important to wear good supportive shoes like Vionic or Asis (spelling?) and socks than to put Vaseline - you’d have to use it the night before or your feet will slip more and cause blisters
The tiny ear bones are the Incus, Malleus, and Stapes (hammer, anvil and stirrup - we visited the Capuchin site in Italy where the monks bones become chandeliers, etc. it is amazing

Haggiah Sofia was originally a Christian Cathedral but made into a mosque when the Muslims conquered Constantinople. Then it was converted into a museum by Mustafa Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. Unfortunately Erdogan converted it back to a mosque a few years ago.
If you are in the Midwest in West Bend Iowa at St Francis there is a grotto made from rocks from every country on earth. It is actually a Stations of the Cross.

@@56pjr These are lies that are regurgitated constantly but are lies that come from Satan himself. Study the history of Christianity and then answer these questions: Who canonized the Bible and when? Who put down the early heresies in the early Church? Who was St. Ignatius of Antioch? What is the Church that Jesus founded? Study its history please. If Catholicism is NOT Christians, then which is the true Church among the thousands all having different doctrines, teachings, all claiming to be led the the Holy Spirit? Yours? Where do you worship and give us the history and see if you can trace it back to Jesus. God Bless.
The Camino calls you. You don't call it. Gentleman I have made this 5 years ago just my call alone will give you goosebumps. The best thing I've ever done
Another great episode gentlemen, and at 23:04 when Ryan Scheel called our Fr. Rich as a "Habitual line stepper" was awesome! Charlie Murphy would be proud!
Enjoying your conversations very. Just one correction re Ireland in case this hasn't been noted before now. Lough Derg is pronounced as Lok Derg. I do appreciate you are covering so many languages you can be forgiven for some mispronunciations! You took up the subject of churches and cemeteries. I notice in Ireland that many or most of the old Irish churches have cemeteries attached.
the Capuchins have a church on the Via Veneto that has a crypt made of bones. My Doctor Mom took me down there when I was 11. The worst part was that she was with a doctor friend and they were identifying the bones, like a game. I was seriously creeped out and Mom finally let me go back upstairs and wait for them but I had nightmares for months. I couldn't even look at a skeleton until recently and I'm 76.
The first apparition of the Virgin was to Santiago Apostol when he was feeling discouraged when teaching in Spain. She was still alive and she appeared on a column... "pilar" ...hence the name la Virgen del Pilar...

Just did the 7 church pilgrimage in Rome it was amazing… also Saint Peter’s Basilica … I wish I would have known about the place Saint Paul was dedicated… but did go to the apian way Going back to Rome September 2024 can’t wait to visit all the places I missed
I heard Austria has absolutely Magnificent Churches. IN the true Roman Rite Church that came down the line for almost 1968 years the Sunday Mass was always 1 hour. "Will you not wait one hour with me. " Preaching the Scripture is the key.
By the grace of God, He allowed me to visit Santiago de Compostella, the Vatican, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the apparition sites of Our Blessed Mother. I thank God for these blessings.
My visit to Rome and the Vatican was mixed feelings. The riches and the Hypocrites in the church sadden me. I pray Justice will prevail for the thousands of children killed and Molested through the church🙏
Honorable mentions. Philippines 🇵🇭. 1 Basilica de San Martin de Tours. The largest Catholic church ⛪ in Asia 🌏. It is in the 1st Catholic nation in Asia 2 Basilica Menor de Santo Nino. Shrine of a Catholic artifact which was a gift 🎁 from Ferdinand Magellan to Raja Humbadon. The artifact survived bombings of World War 2.
There is saying in Spain: "El que va a Santiago y no al Salvador, visita al criado y deja al Señor"... it means that when you go to Santiago and not to Oviedo where Christs reliques are, you visit the servant and not the Lord... Oviedo was where the Camino first originated...
I am financially challenged also but when I travel, I travel by myself, I plan everything, and I save a lot of money that way. It is more fun, too. I enjoy getting lost because in finding my way, I come across so many surprises. Italy is perfect for serendipity. My favorites - Venice for its spectacular scenery and Assisi for its connection to my favorite saint, St. Francis of you-know-where. Italy is my most visited European country. Save up for a trip to Italy, you will not regret it.
The Holy Sepulchre is a weird place, definitely. It's surreal and touristy and the monks fight... If you come back to Jerusalem, two places that you might like (for prayer and meditation) are the tomb of the Virgin (at the foot of the Mount of Olives) and the Chapel of the Ascension (on top of the mount). I feel a sense of the holy in those two places, and I don't find Jerusalem to be particularly holy. (I live in Israel, but I'm Hindu.) The Garden Tomb, while it is almost certainly NOT the place where Jesus was buried, is a nice, quiet, meditative spot.
CORRECTION 34:25 The Hagia Sophia was made a museum in 1934 by a secular Turkish government. But in 2020, it was again changed back to a mosque despite much international protest. I understand the tiles depicting the Virgin Mary will remain unchanged, and tours will continue. But a sad turn of events for Christendom.
I am Catholic and trying my best to find holiness. I was interested in seeing these places you spoke about in your intro. The bobble head figures of Christ, and the Saints was very disturbing for me. And as you well know, the references from the line in the movie "Step Brothers" is all about profane language and nudity. I seriously thought (for a few minutes) that this video may be another attack on the Catholic Church. After a couple more minutes of watching, it was clear that you were not going to show any of the places you spoke of...only talk about them. But a sincere thanks, because your podcast has reminded me not to waste much time online searching for inspiring stories. Its best if I just log off, pick up my rosary, Bible, or any other Catholic read, and sit quietly. Or better yet, visit our Lord in our St. Mary Perpetual Adoration Chapel!
I just listen to this episode after 12 months. Its a shame about the Hagia Sofia its especially signigicant to Armenians I would think. We need to Pray for Armenia and Pray for Eastern Christians. Assisi is one of my Favourites along with Medjugorje. I love the Cathdral of St Andrew in Amalfi its wonderful. @@56pjr Nice try Satan, but not today - or ever.
God Bless.
That is a very beautiful cathedral.
Went on Pilgrimage to the Holyland last Christmas , it was wonderful .
Good evening Fr and company. I always enjoy your talk show gives lots of inspiration and information. God bless you all 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌❤️
Happy Valentine,s Day god bless always ✝️❤️🙏🌹🕊️
Please pray for my youngest sister to get a visa to the US. She will have an interview sometime in June this year. Thank you.
The Holy Seplechur was the most amazing place. I so want to go back to Jerusalem and see more. The incense was a lot. ❤❤
I’ve been to Rome 31 times. Love that church
Wow love this Church!
So thankful to our Lord for giving me the opportunity to have visited this very magnificent church .❤
The first apparition of the Virgin was to Santiago Apostol when he was feeling discouraged when teaching in Spain. She was still alive and she appeared on a column... "pilar" ...hence the name la Virgen del Pilar...
Mary Patricia, l too had this prayer to our blessed lady printed up for me. I had it sent to me from a convent in Amsterdam Holland. It is beautiful isn't it. God bless you Mary Patricia, and may jesus face always shine upon you. God bless. From Brenda in england
I was there in Holy Land last November of this year. And I loved to go back. If time permits.❤❤❤❤
Just did the 7 church pilgrimage in Rome it was amazing… also Saint Peter’s Basilica … I wish I would have known about the place Saint Paul was dedicated… but did go to the apian way
Going back to Rome September 2024 can’t wait to visit all the places I missed
My husband and I were planning to do the Camino but Covid happened.
St Anthony of Padua . Padua is on my bucket list for sure . 🙏
I live in a diocese with priests from Africa in Texas. And I vacation in a mission parish in another diocese with African priests.
Okay?
How was experience being with African priests there
I heard Austria has absolutely Magnificent Churches.
IN the true Roman Rite Church that came down the line for almost 1968 years the Sunday Mass was always 1 hour. "Will you not wait one hour with me. " Preaching the Scripture is the key.
It’s Lough (Pronounced Lock) Derg
Thank God for this upload! I never considered a pilgrimage, now I will! Agape'
When you get the call make haste to the Camino
It is not only the loss of the Hagia Sophia that is sad but many of the cathedrals in the UK...😢
I’ve been the church in Ivory Coast, it can be seen for miles as you approach
Salve 🙏🙏🙏

There is saying in Spain: "El que va a Santiago y no al Salvador, visita al criado y deja al Señor"... it means that when you go to Santiago and not to Oviedo where Christs reliques are, you visit the servant and not the Lord... Oviedo was where the Camino first originated...
My wish is to visit Italy oneday but am poor don't have money , greetings from Lesotho 🇱🇸🇱🇸

I love Mather Mary and Jesus
The Holy Sepulchre is a weird place, definitely. It's surreal and touristy and the monks fight...
If you come back to Jerusalem, two places that you might like (for prayer and meditation) are the tomb of the Virgin (at the foot of the Mount of Olives) and the Chapel of the Ascension (on top of the mount). I feel a sense of the holy in those two places, and I don't find Jerusalem to be particularly holy. (I live in Israel, but I'm Hindu.)
The Garden Tomb, while it is almost certainly NOT the place where Jesus was buried, is a nice, quiet, meditative spot.
Watching this in March 2022. Great show!
CORRECTION 34:25 The Hagia Sophia was made a museum in 1934 by a secular Turkish government. But in 2020, it was again changed back to a mosque
despite much international protest. I understand the tiles depicting the Virgin Mary will remain unchanged, and tours will continue. But a sad turn
of events for Christendom.
Mary Perpetual Adoration Chapel!
brothers kidding around,...love this
all three of you are so blessed and so Handsome 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤💕♥
You guys are rock ❤❤❤
Should is a strong word. We can't even afford to go out of state!
Show more images & do spme additional research to inform yr listeners about the places. . Tht would 100% make yr vid interestim g.
One of my favourite Churches was a Small Churvh in Verona Italy it was Amazing and I cant remember the name !
Hate to break the bad news that the Hagia Sophia is now a mosque.
