Metformin delays gastric emptying and reduce appetite. It causes the most common side-effects like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, anorexia and even constipation.
Metformin can also cause heartburn and dyspepsia. It can cause chest discomfort and heartburn.
You may feel dizzy while taking metformin.
Metformin induced hypoglycaemia
Hypoglycemia menas low blood sugar. Metformin doesn’t usually cause hypoglycaemia. However, if you skip your meal during taking metformin then it can lead to low blood sugar level in your blood.
Other signs & symptoms:
weakness
tiredness
nausea
vomiting
stomach pain
dizziness
lightheadedness
Headache
Irritability
Excessive hunger
Excess sweating
Tachycardia
abnormally fast or slow heartbeat
Long term use of metformin can cause vitamin B12 deficiency.
Now the side-effect we need to worry about is lactic acidosis. It more commonly occurs in Renal failure patients as it is excreted unchanged in urine.
Now some other side-effects like weakness can also be seen with metformin use. It is also called asthenia.
There is also an increase association of upper respiratory track infection while using metformin.
Metformin is also associated with taste changes. You can experience metallic tase while using metformin. The tase sensation can also appear to be bland in some patients.
Metformin can cause myalgia. Which means you can have muscle pain and muscle tenderness.
You can also experience diaphoresis or excessive sweating, Rhinitis or inflamed runny nose or congestion.

I take metformin have done for 18.months 74 and so far no adverse reactions take it after a meal blood sugar is fine cholesterol good its like all medication there are risks involved but as they say keep taking the tablets 😊

I've been on Metformin since 2005. I had a heart attack in 2014 and have developed Barrett's Esophagus, along with almost all the side effects described in your video. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in 2021. The muscle pain is constant, and the stomach pain can be excruciating. I also have developed horrible anxiety. I will never take this poison, Metformin, again!
I am Metformin for over 15 years, never had any problems at all, it is a life saver for me
Indeed I am glad I found this symptoms list I do have a few oof them and now I now know it's not allergy and not something like a sore muscle in the middle of doing nothing strenuous so I must say thank you this helps me a lot
I’m so scared to take metformin, two of my family members have taken it for years for maintaining their diabetes. One has pancreatitis and has been horribly sick for years. I grew up constantly hearing them throwing and the other passed shortly after finding out they had pancreatic cancer stage 4. Firmly believe metformin is the cause

Metformin is a proven anti-cancer. Pancreatitis is caused by excess fat or alcohol consumption.
im going to start taking metformin soon for weightloss reasons; your situation is quite contradicting because ive been told metformin reduces the risk of pancreatic cancer 🤔 just a little confused. have u started yet? if so, hows it affecting you?
@@gglocki I never took it except for a few weeks it makes me stomach hurt terribly. They did give me another type that helped but I’m so scared to use it. Because I know for a fact this gave my family members problems with their pancreas. They’re not even related by blood just marriage so it’s not just a familial reaction.
I've been on Metformin since 9/2016. Because I had gained so much weight, my doctor put me on 2 1,000mgs X daily. After my weight dropped below 300#, he dropped it down to 1,000 X1 2x daily. I've been on 500 mgs X1 twice daily since I dropped below 225#. I am now below 185#. The only side effect I've had after all this time is for the first two years-extreme diarrhea. Of course, as the doses lowered, so did the chances of 'accidents'. I refused insulin (yes I am diabetic T2) as I have an irrational fear of needles!!
Your tablets can be changed by a diabetic nurse or doctor , diarrhoea is the side effet of metformin unfortunately,please talk to some one ,as your life could change for the better 😊

After giving a list of all the side effects of metformin, you could have given an alternative to the medicine. Actually, the sufferings because of diabetes is nothing when compared to the side effects of the medicine itself.
The side effect are usually short lived. The first few weeks are like this but they go away once the body is used to it. Controlling diabetes is very important. My sister had her 1st heart attack at 24, from uncontrolled diabetes, she needs a kidney transplant as well an a pancreas and shes now blind and her legs are purple.. shes 37.. take your medicine.

This person used Metformin for 6 months, ended up in a wheelchair lost nearly half his body wait, he looked like a cancer patient, his family convinced him to stop taking this horrific drug, after 12 months of strict diet my friend has turned his type 2 diabetes around he is currently on holiday with his beautiful wife enjoying life again. So you see Metformin isn’t for everyone.
Very good information. But people has to live with drug induced side effects ,,but when we go to a doctor for the side effects ,he will prescribe some more medicines,and that may cause some more side effects we are living with billions of bacteria without knowing and body counter acts with its own defence mechanism.So the best way to keep health is to live near to nature and reduce medication.

Been taking metformin for about 35 years for type 2 diabetes. It works great and helps me keep my blood sugar level normal. Also, I recently turned 79 and think metformin may be a longevity drug, something it is being tested for......I never had any bowel movement problems from metformin.................I am still taking 1000mgs twice daily. I see no reason to change that......

Medication effects are so individual. I checked out the video because my father takes Metformin for diabetes type 2. I suffer from GERD myself and have taken metoclopramide for years for better digestion. They warn that you may get tics from metoclopramide, but I never got it despite taking thousands and thousands of tablets. But for others it might be disastrous. Same with metformin for diabetes.

500 and 100mg makes me go to the rest room but I take it like it’s cleaning me out so I’m okay with it 😂
If you find your sugar is very elevated, take a cinnamon capsule with water, or if you have it, okra. They work!!

Been taking for 11 years. Had bowel problems for 11 years!! Sometimes you have to take a dump instantly out of nowhere. HORRIBLE!
I no longer take this med as I've found a plant-based alternative that works for me. Sounds like a commercial, but it's true for me. I have the lab numbers to prove my results.

I have been taking metformin since January 2024. The first dose only caused diarrhea, but the side effects got worse after the second dose. I experienced extreme nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, muscle pains, diarrhea, headache, fatigue and chills i feel cold all the time, I also felt bloated and experienced stomach pain every time I ate, but it settled after about an hour. I started with a dosage of 2000mg, but my doctor reduced it to 1000mg per day, which helped reduce the side effects but did not make them go away completely.

If you can get your a1c below 6.5 and keep it there, you may be able to get off Metformin. I'm trying, I HATE taking Metformin; it makes me get too sick!!
Ive been taking it for a few years now... I basically feel sick most of the time. I need to run to the toilet the whole time... They don't have an alternative medication but I'm so sick and tired of this medication that I called the doctor today and told them I want to stop. But I do get my period every month! Which is something I didn't get due to PCOS... It has positive effects but the negative side effects are so bad now that I don't have a life anymore because I need to stay close to a toilet at all times... Seriously wtf...

Day two of metformin 500mg and I’m contemplating stoping. I’m not diabetic but pre diabetic so my doc put me on this to help keep insulin regulated however omg the diarrhea? !… this is horrible. I’m on toilet now as i type 😂

You shouldn't flush Metformin or any other drug down the toilet, it kills aquatic life (fish, manatees, plankton, etc.)

Sometimes I barely make it home… this stuff is nasty.
I had the gastric problems at first but it went away, especially if I ate less carbs. What affected me worse was the tingly red dry pimply unsightly rash I got on my face, where previously, I always had clear skin. That never went away so I stopped the medication and the rash cleared up in about a week or so.
If you have IBS due to a sensitive digestive tract, metformin will make it much worse. What a nightmare.

I took it twice in my life. Nearly ended up in hospital. This stuff is dangerous. Just eat right, exercise.......I am at gym for over 30 years, fit, healthy. This was the first product that nearly made me feel that I am dying!!!
I've been taking metformin for 12 years and never had any of these side effects except for the occasional diarrhea when I eat soup or any other watery meals Stews, porridge.

Years of suffering with Metformin, always used to pass through my system, undigested and like nuclear level laxative, always needed to run to the toilet 😢 ruined my life for 7 years but Dr's insisted I continue it

I’ve been on it a year and thank God I’ve had no side effects. I’m down from an A1C of 7.2 to 5.9 and glucose reading of 200 to 81. I’ve also losed 24 pounds. Once I finish this bottle, I’m hoping to come off altogether and be 10 pounds lighter than I am now.!

I had stopped taking metformin per my doctor; however I now take 1/2 dose to keep my bowel movement regularity; it works well for me.
All it does is cause an excess of bile to be released. Lemon or something sour will trigger the same
Since my dose was dropped to 1 500mgs X 2 daily it works fine for me too.
I don't think metformin is for me, I found out that I have adrenal insufficiency and maybe a bad idea.

I think you should take meth with meals its really helpfull for me.. But yeah i still go to bathroom after 30-45 minutes of lunch

The same with me. Diarrhea, difficulty in breathing, uncomfortable feeling. Thought this medicine is for uric acid.
What about severe shortness of breath. This happened to me came off it . Breathing now returned to normal
I don't leave my house, very little, anymore.
Overall all medicines are poisonous!

13 years on it. Hated it from day one. Doctors said diet and metformin is all i could do.
Solid on diet, a1c at 5.8 doc says to stay on 1000mg 2x a day. 2 months ago, I called bullshit. I cut my metformin to 1000mg a day and excersize to build muscle 2x a day 7 days a week. I feel way better, poop better, muscle mass coming back and lost 10 lbs.
So, doctors don't know everything.
metformin did not sleep. Went to sleep around 6am and woke up to night mares

Only diarrhea when I skip a meal
I started my metformin now have head stabbing pains in my head and headaches. Recently developed occular auras. Which means visual disturbances which are terrifying. You can Google that if you don't know what that is. I have no proof but I think it's the metformin.

Cathy i do get a little constipation now and again I suggest not eating to much veg and fibre if you have only been taking metformin recently things will settle down

Because swallowing VT B12 pill is destroyed in the stomach, but not when digesting meats in stomach. Best absorbing VT B12 options are mouth drops, wafer under tongue, chew tablets and nose gels.
I have made myself take a lot of vitamins since COVID-19, I already take B12.

It does. You should gradually increase the dosage from 500mg to 1000mg to 2000mg. Take it only after the meal, that helped me.

Very impressive, making the excess sweating stop within 2 days was so much more than I expected, I went with what I talked about last week and after the first day or so I was very surprised to start feeling much more comfortable and dry! I went ahead and go'ogled the latest by Cynthia Yulesin and after 72 hours I now sweat like a “normal” person lol

I tried metformin for 2 months - it was horrible as f.. I told my doc no way jose!! They put me on mounjaro and slow acting insulin in the morning. I have been dieting and walking 30-40 minutes x week. I am down 20 pounds and my A1C is down to 6. Mounjaro also has its side effects but not as bad as the synjardy pill I was taking ..

Don't stop without first discussing with your doctor. There are side effects but still Metformin saves you from worse problems due to diabetes .
