  • The guys on the wall deserve our honor regardless of the jerks that sent them there.
The soundtrack is .............. a 40 year remembrance of emotion.

Tom Selleck was one of my favorite actors as a youth. Magnum PI was a top show. It mixed campy antics with serious themes and was enjoyable to watch.

My stepfather was boots on the ground in Vietnam. Sadly, he passed from a combination of cancer and Agent Orange. I was lucky enough to be his guardian on the Star and Stripes Honor Flight #50 in 2018. He was and will always be my biggest hero

So MANY GREAT episodes from this show. This one. The Home from the Sea one and of course the Did you see the sunrise? episode. Just to name a few.
This one was so powerful to me this scene stuck with me for DECADES before I looked it up on you tube several years ago. I HAD to know who sang the song in it and once I found out I watched the whole thing on You tube. It's Joe Cocker at Woodstock (I think it Might be Janis Joplin in the background vocals but I don't know). The song Touches me SO deeply with HIS emotional voice that I immediately decided to ask to have it used when I die (morbid maybe but none of us gets out alive).

I have “I’m so glad I’m standing here today” on my funeral set-list thanks to Magnum PI. It’s the only TV show that’s ever made me cry. I think “Limbo” was the best episode and really should have been the series finale but season 8 was still excellent. I Just preferred Magnum walking off to Heaven after helping all his friends one last time a better ending than him returning to the NIA.

@@J.R.in_WV Personally, I think "Unfinished Business" is the best single episode in the entire series, and that was from season eight. Having said that, "Don't Eat the Snow in Hawaii" (the pilot movie) set the bar pretty damn high and I'll never forget watching it as an 11 year old.

I have the complete Magnum PI collection. Many have sad scenes in them, but this one scene always has, and always will make me tear up with sadness.

Still remember seeing this episode as a kid and so glad I found this ending here. Probably my favorite episode of what was a great show overall.

This is one of the few TV scenes that made me bawl uncontrollably. I never really 100% knew throughout the first time I watched the episode that Joey was dead from the war.

Some of the endings could be heartbreaking. This, Home from the Sea, the one where Rick watched the woman being thrown from the cliff, the Frank Sinatra episode…..

He never put down the President or the Vietnam war, Our own U.S.A. government. wouldn't pay for the whole wall. Threee vets had to pay for the rest of it, literary Out of pocket! God bless our VETS!!!

I always got the impression that Thomas’s stepfather was always angry that his son died and not Thomas.

Please don’t say that, they’ll try it and ruin it like they have everything else. I really wish they’d ended the series with “Limbo” and retired the character by having him walk off into heaven to rejoin his lost friends. That would have retired the character very nicely and possibly avoided the dumpster fire that is the New “Magnum”. But then again those bastards probably would have come up with “zombie Magnum the undead PI who eats people and then covers it up with his “super rad” skills.

...to of served by 1965- you would of been 18. Today, in 2022- you're around 75.
the average lifespan isn't much longer than that.
even those who would serve at the age of 18, by for example 1972, is around 65. ...men who served in that war with little to no point at least can reunite with their brothers in arms- some LITERALLY in some cases- can meet them in the clouds now. GOD BLESS! ☝🥲
