When asked who was the greatest singer of his generation, Bob Dylan replied: “The greatest singer of my generation? Oh, Joe Cocker, I suppose! Here meets the greatest songwriter and the greatest singer of our generation.

Interesting you should say this.... 🤔
Then can you explain to me why Joe Cocker isn't in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame? 😳
      Dolly Parton - Yes
      Joe Cocker.- No
      I don't get it.

Back in my dark stage stumbling through drugs booze and continous depression I was in a pub high and getting higher when I heard Joe Cocker. His voice and his rendition of cry me a river that day changed so much for me in 3 mths I was on the path to a new life 46 years later I still love every song Joe sang. Thanks brother for being my inspiration if there is a god I hope he or she looks after you bless you my main man Mr Joe Cocker.

So true although the 90s had some killer tunes too, I grew up on music from the 60s and started hating what it became in the early 2000s, even worked as a stage tech in the early 2000s up to just before the pandemic and seen it first hand go down hill but still seen some kick ass bands play even groups I grew up hearing made for an amazing experience in life far more than what the public schools have ever done for me.

@@charliern Good correction and I don't mind Cocker here for the most part. I guess other voices I don't like to hear are Geddy (Daffy Duck on Acid) Lee, Freddie Mercury (not hate, just not into it), Tom Waits. Tina Turner (most songs she wrecks). I like many so-called bad singers though.

My brother and I had one thing in common "JOE COCKER". We saw him in concert in Sydney multiple times over the years and met him on some of those occasions. When my brother died last year I was devastated to say the least. We laid his ashes to this song. When Joe died in December it was like a double whammy for me. Rest in peace both of you xx

The first time I saw Joe Cocker I thought he had something like epilepsy or of the like where your movement's are uncontrollable. I am sorry to say this but that's what I thought, I was also about 10 years old. 1971. But his voice is unmistakable and fantastic, You cannot mistake those grainy vocals. I have listened to everything he has done and never have been displeased. How could you be?

It's really amazing the clarity we had through all the haze and confusion back then. Maybe because we had peace and love in our hearts. Somehow we found grace. Too bad it never caught on. The man always has his way it seems of putting an end to anything that might actually be good for people, like not killing each other for starters. Things are far worse now than I could have ever imagined back then. Of course even back then I thought mankind was incapable of living in peace and harmony with each other and the earth.

Another beautiful soul leaves us. Getting older isn't so bad knowing I shared the same time with him. His "Bird on a Wire" has been my mantra.

What a cool version. of course. I feel this song so bad. Depression. All day long I WOULD be shouting so loud, crying out that I was framed...that THIS isn't ME. That I'm trapped in here, suffering for no good reason. So many years now. But the shout is frozen somewhere deep inside, I can't get to it. I can't word it. I would scream but it's like in a dream where you have no voice. Anyway, these songs give me strength. Songs like this and 'Try' by Janis Joplin that I was listening to earlier. and songs like 'How to Disappear Completely' by Radiohead. Thanks for posting this. Cheers to everyone listening.
