I just bought a MK5 with 240,000 miles with the goal in mind of building something similar and the video has made me feel much better about my decision 😅😅

Nice, I have a 2009 GTI that I used to autocross in SCCA G-stock on a set of BFG R1s mounted on a set of Rial Bari 18" wheels and Hawk HP+ brake pads with DOT4 fluid (videos on my channel). Playing with tire pressures to try and improve turn in and rotation I found I got excellent, almost drift worthy rotation with 42psi front and 40 psi rear. The bad thing was that the rotation I was getting was enough to trigger the non-defeatable ESP and that just killed my run. I ended up settling on 42psi all the way around. Highest finish was 3rd in the rain.
I haven't autocrossed since 2011 unfortunately. Since then I've in changed the upgraded quite a few parts. The clutch to one from Southbend Clutch and a matching single mass flywheel. At the same time I installed a Peloquin LSD. Installed Goodridge braided stainless steel lines. I've also had the stock springs and dampers changed out with Eibach Pro-kit springs and Koni FSD shocks. The biggest upgrade by far was the LSD though. I can use the throttle to tuck the nose in corners and sometimes you can feel the LSD fighting the ESP. There is no need to turn off the ESP anymore. All turning off ESP ever did was turn off the understeer correction and throttle cut traction control system. Turning off ESP left the oversteer correction on. After installing the LSD I realized the traction control has two levels of throttle cut, a hard cut and a soft cut. With the LSD it never hits the hard cut and the soft cut is like a small throttle lift. The hard cut is equivalent to taking your foot off the gas completely.

Great video! I've also driven a FSI 2.0 KO4, but in an Audi A3. Watching this video helped me pinpoint areas where I can enhance my cornering skills. Thanks for the valuable insights!

did you need any special caliper brackets to retrofit the audi ttrs brake calipers on? and by any chance did you keep the stock master brake cylinder ? been looking around to do the same thing but cant seem to find an answer, thank you! also dope mk5, glad to see people still use this generation gti

Nice build! I like the OEM plus philosophy. Have you run any NASA events with your car? If so what class? Any laptime data from the tracks your race at?

Love the gti setup, I also noticed that you have a light weight battery in ur engine bay. Can you tell me which battery is that and where i can get one?
