      I bought a 2007 GTI a couple of weeks ago. It has ~50hp more than stock, and that’s all that a FWD platform should really have for the street 😅 Ballpark same power/weight was Focus ST or Mazdaspeed 3

    I absolutely love my 07 mk5, purchased at 99k I’ve put 22k miles on it, and tons of maintenance. I just ordered a new PCV, diverter, HPFP, valve cover, seals, belt, water pump 😅. But they have been some of the most fun miles I’ve ever driven on 2 wheels or 4.

    My MkV Garrett Turboed DSG 5 door is about as sleeper as one can get. My buddies call it , “ Dr. J, Mr. H”. I have no issues with carrera 4Ss or Vettes. I put an LSD , VOLK Racing 16lb 18”s and no back seat. Painted C/F hood and rear hatch. The fronts are C/F Recaros. The thing runs 2860lbs. with 1/2 tank. Besides being lowered 1” and having 355 mm front rotors , you can’t tell it from most other GTIs, but stomp on the go fast pedal and hang on!

    I had a 2nd owner DC2 GSR and went to the dark side with a 2nd owner Mk5 Gti. Loved the turbo, couldn't go back but wanted AWD for winters. So I picked up a mk6 R new. They all serve a purpose. Unfortunately they're all broken, so picked up a 2018 F-150 5.0 new. It's the ultimate daily...for any season. It's goes through every situation in comfort with plenty of power on tap with ease. But I can't wait to get ALL of my cars above fixed. If I had to pick, It'd be DC2 for weekend warrior duty, Gti for city daily (K03 shines light to light), and R for highway drives (K04, better breathing and higher final gear the R can really stretch it's legs). 👍🏾👍🏾

    I have a 2005 (maybe it's called a 2006 in North America) with a manual and coilovers. I have a ECU tune, should have around 260-270 hp. I absolutely love driving and TBH this is the perfect car. I have a baby daughter and it takes all our luggage without issues, and it's just fun enough, comfortable enough and fast enough to want to be driven every day. I also have 4 series gran coupe and let me tell you what, I take the keys to GTI all the time. Best part? I don't even dream about faster cars anymore. On a twisty road spirited drive it's all I need and when you don't feel like it you'll drive home in comfort. Also, you can park it anywhere without worrying one bit, no one cares about these cars, so it's perfect for road trips too!

    Anytime mine ever makes that turbo flutter it's either with the dv unplugged or its on upshifts and actually jerks/stalls on the upshifts

    • @tomass.3908
      @tomass.3908 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      mine does the same @ 264Hp with stock one, DV is H version, well actually not flutter but, Pshhh. Sometimes it's louder sometime quieter. In this car case it could be turbulence on valve. It's not from turbo it would be dead already if it jerks.

    • @bamdragon25
      @bamdragon25 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @tomass.3908 Mines gotta be turbo related. It bounces the needle on both boost gauge and rpm gauge and you can hear it through the intake which sounds exactly like in this vid, except mine does it while accelerating on upshifts while his is letting off the throttle. For me though, it's a pain to drive with it doing that cause of that "stalling" it does, which I think its similar to a fuel cut but not as violent. Just hiccups with the "beat" of the fluttering. It's weird and hard to explain without experiencing it lol

    Awesome car, I had 2. One was 365hp. But the only way this is objectively better than a MK8 R is the power/ weight on a freeway. In every other aspect (from a stop or basically anything in first, on dirty roads, in inclement weather, tight back roads) the Golf R is a superior drive. Throwing more power @ FWD isn't always better and sometimes it's worse.

    • @robmule4647
      @robmule4647 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The most important way it's 'better' is that it's much less expensive than a Golf R.

    Unfortunately with a simple tune the Mk8R is pushing well over 400hp. Add a down pipe and you’re about 450hp, so the answer is no. This GTI would get destroyed off the line and a roll race.

    • @haroldbutler778
      @haroldbutler778 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well they say the dsg trannys in mk5 gti can handle around 300 ft lbs of torque.. after that you will kill the clutch packs sooner.. they so sell clutch packs that can handle more.. if it was a manual I would say it will start slipping shortly after stage 2 tune and beyond.

    • @rnldmanuel88

    Why do VW people get made when you say Golf GTI? I've have multiple, as have friends. My partners dad is a private VW mechanic, ie dosnt work for VW, and we've never heard of this. Is it just an American thing?

      In America, it was called 'GTI'. It wasn't until the Mark 7 generation for us Americans that the car started getting called 'Golf GTI'. If anything, I get mad when people call our cars "an MK 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8" as opposed to what it's actually called -- "a Mark 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8". Our cars are not Hondas people!
