I will note, which we forgot. This holds the FWD lap record at our local track.
I was 1/10th from breaking the record last year :(
@@Risran Crazy, very nice.
@@COMotorsports I’m going to recommend you check out Darkside Developments MK5 track car . Both cars are straight up track tools 😎😎😎
Brian beat me by 0.02 I believe for that! lol.
Love the still pic of the Mk’s 3, 4, & 5 in the chicane
Well, THAT control arm bushing in the opening shot certainly isn’t stock…🔥🔥🔥
Had some fantastic racing with Paul in the #51 last year! So glad to see the car back togather.
Scariest / most thrilling moment in a car I've had yet was passing on the inside of t7....
Nice race car...love the suspension set up.
Thank-you COMotorsports, you guys are amazing!!!
Nice build and a great story behind it 😎👍.
I wouldnt be mad if you posted fabrication videos 💪😏.
Perfect timing. Got an appt coming in 15mins. 👍🏾
im just here to comment on the thumb nail "excuse me sir, you cannot park there!" also good lord i forgot how bumpy and sketch some sections of that track were! i really enjoyed the lap ride along!!
I would have sworn that the thumb was 'shopped, that's just bonkers to see a flying Golf!
Yeah not a good day.
Just as a funny note, Derek had the name cut off that wing support as it is made by BYC... Back Yard Civics in the UK. Great guys and great product. Full kit and it installed super easy.
Very nice. Thanks. 👍
it would be awesome if you guy upload some Fabrication Video’s too!!
Great content as always!!
Yes 1st! New content!
Lovely car!! I own a mk5 with k04 myself, been my daily for years now and pushing 200k kms n may need a refresh/rebuild in the not so far future.. Please do a video on the balance shaft delete, the why n hows. Keep up the cool videos, love how you can explain stuff that I can somehow understood
This pump was swapped to a 1.8t pump. However I just modify the stock FSI pump and prevent the balance shafts from spinning on most.
@@COMotorsports thanks for the info.. hopefully you’ll make a video on the pump mods.. 😁😁 and also one more thing, just watched your video about the stand alone ecumaster for the 1.8t. Is there any option for the mk5 gti?
@@youtubeviewer2919 yes but direct port injected cars are a different animal. ECU about 3xs as much. If you follow the Mk5 AWD swap project series we're doing standalone on that one.
@@COMotorsports great, will check out that video!! 🙏🙏
Great video... what do you guys think is the most usable power for a front drive 24v VR6
Is it worth the trouble to transplant a 4 motion or do you think FWD with a good diff is as competitive?
Are you referring to racing out street car? I'd racing FWD can be very competitive either the right tire, aero and suspension.
Hi loving the content you put out looking forwards to some more 1.8t stuff . Can I ask what parts do you need to put a rs3 5 cylinder engine into a mk5 golf any help would be great 👍
I wouldn't even bother. Why not spend half as much and just build a NA 2.5l and boost it. Same or better results, less money. ;) Exactly what I'm doing with mine, goals will be 5-600whp, low end on pump as it's my daily. All the parts are waiting just no time. :(
One thing I've been curious about - have you ever done a swap on a Golf/GTI to a supercharger in place of the turbo?
The question would be why? Lol
@@COMotorsports just curious if...
I know some people prefer them, even though most modern turbos (especially factory) have almost no lag.
@@jameshaulenbeek5931 No, they're power limiting so it doesn't make sense especially on an already boosted car.
Only other mk5 race car that iv seen is darkside development mk5 tdi with mk6 front end. Love to see it tho. People sleep on these cars
Nothing leaves stock has one also, there's a handful out there for sure.
One off lower control arms and modded bracket for heim joints? Why not use 034 components, not robust enough or another reason?
Passat alloy hubs?
Wider front track width and TT spindles are mentioned. Perhaps a greater degree of steering + suspension geometry to adjust as well. I thought the b-roll clips of those parts were awesome!
Passat hubs will not correct the roll center geometry, they are simply aluminum and lighter than stock GTI ones.
Was an aftermarket master cylinder needed with those brakes? I recall my Mk5 GTI always having a lot of brake pedal travel, even when new. Loved that car.
Not that I remember. There's no reason the stock master shouldn't work.
Stock master works perfectly fine with next to no pedal travel with our brake setup!
@@junkyard91104 Don't forget the BMW CSL ABS unit..
Is the balance shaft delete (free wheel) worth doing on a street driven car ?
They're a known failure point period.
@@COMotorsports I installed the oil pump setup when we did the Golf R motor swap but am drawing a blank right now. Pretty sure its a older 1.8T oil pump. We pulled the factory Pump/balance shafts. We where lucky as the block was already tapped for the pump.
@@MrJoelnelson yes that's a common option same thing done on this one. However I typically just modify the stock pump to keep oil pressure on check.
@@COMotorsports Been thinking of going with a vis balance shaft delete kit. Have you had experience with vis?
@@usahd7745No i just modify the pump
Weight?
2675 lbs with 40L of fuel and no driver
I wanna do shit like this to my mk5 but I am broke as hell lol
AMP opened in 1974
Thanks, somethings finally older than myself.
