I found this video super useful as someone with the 3+ (where I experience nearly unplayable bluetooth input latency.) I've been put off using the 3+ in docked mode for anything other than media consumption - but I'm feeling really motivated by the results you shared here. Would even like to see more testing done with regards to bluetooth lag, if you have any videos in the works! Preorder is in, so I'm along for the ride no matter the results :) Thanks!
The crashing when disconnecting may be due to the pre-production status of the software at the moment. I expect the retail software will be more stable.
Great video, would love to see how the Retroid dock performs. Appreciate the time in covering topics that aren't always discussed in other videos! 🤘🏼🍻🔥
What a flex to use the Raccoon Landlord Debt Simulator game as a prop in this video lol. I'd been wondering whether it would play on this system as I adore that game.
Did you run into any problems with animal crossing? I saw another TH-camr say it constantly crashed on his retroid pocket 5. Maybe just different emulator
Could you tell me if you can assign where the audio output will go when you have a usb monitor plugged in? Certain devices seem to want to just force the audio through the USB connection to whatever (monitor) is connected on the other end but there are times I'd want to use headphones connected to the the audio jack while using an external display.
Interesting that it doesn’t just mirror the internal 1080p. I’m wondering now what would happen if a screen with an aspect ratio other than 16:9 were connected
They also sell a RP docking station. I wonder how well that works of you either use a wired controller on the USB port or a USB dongle and wireless controller..maybe the latency is a lot better then. I can't see myself play action playformers on a TV with input lag. Rather just play the portable handheld then.
@RyanRetro1 so you think that if the controller signal goed through the usb of docking station to send a signal to the RP and then a signal on the TV there won't be input lag? Bluetooth is the sole cause of lag.
Waiting for extended Windows Emulation. And for an option you can try Exagear as a Winlator alternative (for example 5 in 1 build, which comes with a lot of options) and I found a lot of games plays there better than on winlator 7/8. And for winlator you could try different builds as well (7 glibc, 8 etc). Thanks.
Just today I've heard about Exagear, Box64 and Armbian. Emulating desktop operating systems is a deep rabbit hole. I'm going to have to do a lot of research. I'd love to be able to get a Steam game or two running.
Yeah, even when I plugged it in with a charger later in the day, it wouldn't charge at all until I rebooted the device. That's happened twice now. The battery issues are one of the main reasons the product has been delayed by 2 weeks. After turning it off and on again, it charges fine.
Sorry about that. It's quite an uncommon video type where I have to keep putting controllers in front of the screen all the time. It shouldn't be an issue in other videos so much.
Input latency is always a thing with wireless controllers, it's usually pretty minor. Bluetooth audio latency is usually more problematic. Have you tried any ear buds?
Android device is just too much trouble using as a TV console, you still need the touch screen to do most things (settings, change apps etc). It is just not a pleasant couch experience.
Depends on the individual of course but I have a 'home theatre PC' for TV, streaming and gaming and I control a lot of it (especially tedious game settings) with a wireless USB remote that is basically an Air Mouse/Keyboard rolled into one package. It also happens to have the Android system buttons (Back, Home, Multitask) as prominent buttons. It makes everything a lot more couch friendly. @Ryan, have you already tested any sort of mouse with the Retroid Pocket 5?
You are a RP5 rockstar. You're the only one making all these great videos. I really appreciate this!
Thank you so much! I'll keep going.
I've been looking for a video like this EVERYWHERE thank you so much for making this!
You're welcome!
Automatic like. I’ve been searching for a video like this and finally here it is. I want to test these out with XR glasses.

What i love is using AR glasses and the major benefit is that you dont need to change any controller profiles at all. Its great.

Yes! I was eager to see the TV out feature. Thanks for making this video!
You're welcome!
Your tv has a USB c input or you using a hub
excellent videos man.
what portable monitor is that
Would be great if there was a “docked mode” to switch to external controllers when docked using the official dock
Nice you are in Seoul too. I'm in Jamsil
Yep! Nice I love Jamsil
Hey Ryan, might it work with the steam deck dock or something similar?
Thanks for the vid!❤
You're welcome!
Are there resolution options?
I wonder if we can output 16:9 1080p.. 4:3 480 etc instead of it being the max the device supports.
Show us some of your favourite controller supported android games

I chose it because I think it's one of the most perfect games to relax with on a big TV
@@RyanRetro1 that is true, but you should lookout for nintendos lawyers!
@@RyanRetro1 beware of plumber guy company

What Emulator did you use?
gonna play this on my projector.
Sounds awesome
Does the fan kick on loud?

Only one wireless controller seems like a pretty big limitation 😞
2:00 you just can toggle the "show overlay" option off ;)
Does it have a desktop mode?
Great video! I would take this camping with me. What portable monitor did you use by the way?
Thank you! It's one I picked up here in Korea by a company called Crossover.

I don't think there's any magic in the docking station, it's just a USB hub in a convenient package as far as I can tell.

Alright I'll buy one lol
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How to play Switch game using this handheld?

Does Animal crossing work perfectly on this device?
Yes it does!
@@RyanRetro1 wow thanks
Ryan you put " I test how the Retroid Pocket 3 looks" in the description, but we know it's the RP5 XD
Did I? Oops.
ssd might not working because the file system not ExFAT or FAT32
That's a good point
I don't think it's charging. It went from 79 to 71 in that video

New horizons works on it? Does stalker work on it?
New Horizons is working great! Haven't tried Stalker
@ I wonder if stalker even exists yet since it just came out a few days ago.
Ooof that autofocus is messing with me.

Not yet. I could try my Airpods to see how the latency is.
1st😊

So far, I agree. Maybe an all-in-one launcher like ES-DE could remedy that.
