    Good tip would be. Carpet the cabinet before adding your last baffle and aslo wrapping that one before glueing. Just rabbit the back of it to compensate for the vinyl material. Itll save you around the port so you want have pieces come up later in time. Wither way it still looks nice . As a learning box builder myself youre getting better n better!

    I really like these subs. I had 2 of the 10s on about 700 watts, I had to lower the volume a little, but I think they were very musical. I put them it a prefab box with the correct airspace. Very nice.

    Here's some things I usually try to do when building subwoofer boxes...
    1. When hollowing out cross / window braces, use circles and curved cuts, not square cuts (e.g. square and rectangular cutouts). And for the box itself, design the panel layout so you never have to slide a panel into place during glue-up time, as this can result in the glue joint not being as strong as it is between panels that are pressed into place.

    My first experience with nvx Subs was with the nsw 104. I quickly discovered that they used to be overrated. Shortly after making a whole bunch of noise about it they dropped the rating on the subs from 350 w, down to 250 Watts. When pushing for this magic 350-watt number, I was experiencing heat-related failures. Not a mechanical failure, or electrical failure. The subs were getting so hot that the glue was melting, but never once did these subwoofers stop playing. Even in full meltdown these Subs were blasting their little hearts out. It wasn't until the spider completely detached from the speaker basket that it finally experienced a mechanical failure. I went through three sets of these before I gave up and accepted that these Subs were overrated. But I would like to make one thing clear. The voice coil on these subs is absolutely capable of withstanding 350w. However the other components that make up the speaker cannot handle the heat generated at this power level. It has a pole vent for cooling, but perhaps another vent added on the basket just below the spider might rectify the heat problem.
    With that being said, these Subs are now rated at 250 Watts today. And I can tell you from personal experience, that these Subs will soak up 250 W all day no problems.
    Running the VS Series from nvx today. These things are badass

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have them hooked up to a 700w amp, will let you know if they cant' handle it.

    • @nighttow8780
      @nighttow8780 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DIYAudioGuy that would be great. I remember the specs used to be 300 watts in a ported enclosure, and 350w in a sealed enclosure. My testing (which, full disclosure, was done in vehicle in my driveway) involved .75 sealed enclosure. I also noticed the website is the only thing with the updated specs. I have yet to see a user's manual, a box, or a sticker on a magnet with these updated specs.
      I would also just like to make sure that it's clear that my comment above wasn't negative about nvx. Even though I experienced failure because I was trying to push it to the subs printed spec, I must admit to all that I was thoroughly impressed with these Subs. I am nearly confident that the nsw 104s will outperform any other sub in the $50 range.
      I may have had a couple of negative experiences with the subs, but my overall experience was definitely impressive. And that's the reason I purchased six of these. I burnt them out two at a time and kept going back for more precisely because I was impressed with them.
      There is no way the Big Brand companies can compete with NVX on a dollar per unit of performance basis.

    I’m jealous of your routers and your skills…😅😂 I gotta get a nail gun. I’ve got the Ridgid power tools. I love em…🤤😍 So far I’ve got a drill, 1/4 inch impact, 3/8 impact, sawzall, jigsaw, angle grinder, and the battery powered air pump. Next is gonna be a nail gun and router.

    • @DIYAudioGuy
      @DIYAudioGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started collecting tools about 8 years ago. Give yourself some time, patience, and dedication and you will have them.
      I went with the Ryobi because it was the only tool platform at the time that had an affordable cordless brad nail gun and router. I'm really happy with the Brad nailer. The cordless router is gutless and a complete waste of money. When I hit 100,000 subscribers I'm going to treat myself by switching to Milwaukee.

    • @A6Legit
      @A6Legit ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYAudioGuyI recommend Ryobi often, but I did have an issue with my P320 nail gun. Barely even used it and had to take it for a warranty repair. Can't beat it for the price, but that put a dent in my enthusiasm lol.
      I have the P601 router and it seems alright to me. It's lacking useful features like speed control and accessories of the Milwaukee, but it's also 1/3 the price or less considering battery prices. I don't "need" cordless so I just stick to my corded porter cable most of the time.
      I have both Milwaukee and Ryobi tools, if its something that gets used all the time id go for the Milwaukee. But I also only buy them when there's a sale 😅

    A couple years ago I help my buddy to pick out a subwoofer, we decided to go with a single NVX VSW-104V2 (500RMS). Before, I can set gain to match the sub, he was driving around clipping the heck out of it but, at the time not knowing he damage the subwoofer (voice coil sounds like it's still in good condition ) causing the spider to separate from the cone and wondering why it was not performing. Later on taking the sub out of the box is when I notice the damage, I was able to fix the problem using flexible E6000 adhesive which I use on another subwoofer. With that said, I compare it to my JBL GT5-12 275RMS in a prefab ported box and it is just as loud as the NVX VSW-104V2 500RMS in a prefab sealed box. (???????)

    • @DIYAudioGuy

      No experience, with them. But your instincts sound correct. The problem is you're trying to squeeze subwoofers into a tight space, so you really can't build the optimal box. You're stuck with what fits.

      Tuning Frequency of 38 Hz
